Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Not Alone

~ Hentritch ~

Grandfather Gordon sent a maid to remind Jenna and her parents of dinner. It pretty much seemed they had forgotten about it, even though they did not, but they just didn't feel like eating.

Regardless, they wanted their baby, Jenna to eat so they had no other choice.

During dinner, grandfather Gordon only talked to Jenna. It was as if his son and daughter-in-law were both absent. They weren't surprised, nor were they mad at his reaction. It's the least they could endure for the sake of paying for their inertness to their only child over the years.

But grandfather Gordon did not fail to notice the ambiance in the dinning room. How Sampson couldn't stop asking Jenna unnecessary questions while he added a spoon of everything on the table to her plate.

Meanwhile, Evelyn also did the same. But unlike Sampson who was asking questions, Evelyn was chattering endlessly, even scolding Sampson for asking some stupid questions.

Funny how they came to their senses because of the most unlikely event. Who would have thought that 'Elle and Co.' would help Jenna in resetting her parent's approach towards her.

Well, Jenna ended up binge eating for the first time in a long while, all thanks to her parents. Grandfather Gordon said nothing.

There was nothing to talk about, literally. There was no need in asking if they talked or not, it was pretty much as obvious as the sun. Evelyn and Sampson had forgotten to ask about what happened to Mason and his parents after they left, not like the old man was going to tell even if they did ask.

But they would have to ask Bruce later on, if they really did want to know, because at the moment, they were too busy with their daughter.

_

After they were done eating, Jenna informed grandfather Gordon about her decision to resettle in Hentritch.

He was very happy about it, but he still wanted to confirm if that was what she really wanted or if she was just under pressure, so he did well to mask it.

The previous day, she told grandfather Gordon about Morticia and she did very well in explaining her ordeal to him. But just like her parents, he asked if she was bringing Morticia along, which she confirmed she was and the old man didn't really have an issue with that.

So long as she wasn't going to hurt his granddaughter, grandfather Gordon didn't mind. He still intended to keep his eyes on both Jenna and Morticia, but it was useless telling Jenna, atleast to grandfather Gordon it was.

Eventually, after what seemed like forever, Sampson and Evelyn left Jenna alone, for that night at least.

Jenna was all smiles that night and she also couldn't wait to see Morticia's reaction when she breaks the news to her.

And to think it was going to happen so soon, since her parents had decided she stayed in one of their numerous properties, till she was done house hunting.

Jenna was elated.

* Kendrell's *

After Kendrell woke up, he found himself on the sofa. He couldn't remember when or where he slept.

But he felt very hungry and thirsty.

' Damnit' he murmured to himself before getting to his feet. He needed to cook something, but first on the list was slaking his thirst, so he left the living room for the kitchen. Reaching there, he saw a glass of water on the kitchen table.

He was startled at first, but then he vividly remembered what happened a few hours ago. He exhaled deeply before taking the cup from the table and pouring the content out and into the sink.

In no time he filled the glass up again and drank from it more than twice, because he felt very dehydrated.

He remembered Malcolm prepared what was supposed to be breakfast, so he was to heat it up, obviously. Kendrell was thankful because he didn't know if he would've eaten any proper meal throughout the entire day. He was sure for the rest of the day, he was gonna eat whatever was stuffed in the fridge.

But he sort of had Tiana to thank for that, because he made sure he never ran out of at least, major ingredients, titbits and appetizers while she lived with him.

'Enough of Tiana Ken!' a voice in his head rang.

Exhaling deeply, Kendrell brushed his hair backwards before he went on to heat the meal Malcolm had prepared. It was a little extra, which was why Malcolm stepped out to get some extra ingredients.

After Kendrell served it, he didn't know how or why, but his appetite flew out the window.

Groaning, he kept it away, before grabbing a fistful of his hair in frustration. Then he slammed his fist on the table, immediately he got to his feet. Abruptly, he paused when he heard a sound which disappeared as soon as he heard it.

Then it came again, partially sounding like an object was vibrating, but Kendrell wasn't so sure as it seemed to come from the living room.

Carelessly, Kendrell left for the living room. He didn't care if he was going to pay for letting his guard down or not, he couldn't have cared less at this point.

When he got to the living room, he saw that it was his phone which was surprisingly lying beneath the sofa.

Sighing, Kendrell lazily went over to pick it, by the time the call already disconnected. Glancing at the caller ID, Ken saw it was Mario who called. He couldn't escape it this time so Kendrell had no choice but to call back.

After what seemed like forever to Kendrell, Mario finally understood that it wasn't really a good time for him, since the pair weren't close enough to know what was going on in each other's lives. But that didn't stop Mario from informing him about a meeting which might be fixed impromptu, any time or day of the following week. Dropping the call, Kendrell then realized how quiet and lonely he felt.

He needed some music before he lost his mind.

With that, he searched up a break-up playlist and hit the play button before he sat on the sofa and closed his eyes with his elbow over his head. In no time, Kendrell started lip syncing to the few he knew.

But it only led him to feeling heavy as some had moving and relatable lyrics.

After a while, Malcolm's words began ringing sort of, through his ears;

' I need you to be strong. I know it's a lot, the whole thing is too much to process but you just gotta to go easy on yourself'

' You're too good for them. And what they did just goes to show it.'

' We are just too broken to trust the process. But we have to'...

Sighing, Kendrell brushed his hair backwards.

After he picked up his phone again, he decided to play some empowering songs instead.

When he was about to hit play, he noticed that the break-up playlist had more stream numbers than the cheering up songs.

Scoffing, Kendrell decided even before streaming any other song, that he was not alone.
