Fallen Angel
Chapter 4
It was a good morning and the sun was in its prime, radiating into the surface of the earth and there I was standing in front of the resort hoping to see the benefactor whom I was told asked for me.
"Julian, you're sure someone was looking for me?" I asked Julian again to confirm
"Yes, she was standing here a few minutes ago" he replied
I was trying to be cautious to avoid any trouble from Mrs. Becky - because I left the counter empty.
I decided to go back to my station before a familiar face whom I later figured out was the lady from yesterday, alighted from a black car with lots of packages.
"May I help you miss" I insisted
"Oh, don't worry"
"These are for you," she said with a smile I seem not to comprehend at the moment.
"For me?" I asked stupidly
"Yes, you did something very wonderful for me yesterday"
I stood in awe still trying to find out if this was a joke.
"Take them" she insisted
I did take them and was still in shock, I abruptly walked away.
"Uhm, hey can I have your number," she asked making me halt.
I moved towards her took her phone and dialed my number.
"Thanks for the stuff" I appreciated
and she entered her car and drove away.
"Much things to chop from that lady, son!" Julian chided ignorantly.
I strode back to my station with lots of loads given to me by an unknown Samaritan.
I got to the counter just in time and met a buyer.
"What may I offer you, sir?"
"Give me a bottle of beer" he ordered
I was thinking he was going to order something costlier because of his outlook; protruded stomach, gold wristwatch, black hat, and fat cheeks.
I gave him his order and took the bill.
Right after that, I sat down to brood on the event that just passed.
-------------
The evening was already shoving itself into the day and the sun itself seemed to retreat its radiance.
Myself and Mrs Becky had gone home already only to meet two sleeping adults and a dirty living room.
"Naomi!!, Audrey!!" Mrs. Becky yelled furiously
"Mom, why does your yelling stop my sense of thinking," Audrey said with a hoarse voice
"You two must be out of your minds!" Mrs. Becky scolded.
"Get your asses off that couch and tidy up this place!" She instructed
"Alright Mom" Audrey drawled struggling to stand up.
"Uhm, hey Hermit, how are you doing?" Audrey acknowledged my presence.
"I'm great!" I replied with a pretentious smile.
I paced toward the room with urgency, so I can jump out the window, pass through the backyard and take the packages I snuck in moments ago.
I frantically packed all of it and was about to jump back into the window, before I heard a noise inside the room.
I halted abruptly in fear that someone might find me.
"Where's Hermit?" I heard Naomi said
I peeped to see if she was gone before I jumped in finally.
Carefully and at the same time frantically, I kept the packages in the corner of my bed.
It wasn't long after before we had dinner and as usual Audrey never stopped talking, Naomi giving cold comments and Mrs Becky correcting them.
Soon, I got to my bed when I got to the borders of sleep, about to shut my eyes before the sound of my buzzing phone interrupted.
I picked up my phone and checked the caller's identity; it was the lady from the resort.
"Hello," I said from my end of the phone
"Oh hey mister, sorry I'm calling you this late"
"No worries"
"Uhm, thank you for what you did for me the other day, I appreciate" she thanked
"Miss you've thanked me lots of times, I'm supposed to be the one thanking you right now for the gifts" I complained
"Anyways, you never told me your name," she said
I paused for a moment to think of which name I should tell her. Whether my angelic name or earthly name.
I deliberated for seconds still pondering.
"Mister are you still there!"
"Yes, my name is EL'TOREL KAD," I said nervously
"What kind of a name is that?" She asked sounding perplexed
"It's Divine" I answered
"Well, mister - I can't pronounce your name "
"You can call me Hermit"
"Oh, better Hermit how do you fancy us meeting at a place tomorrow?" She suggested
I would love to spend time with her, she just has a striking character that I seem not to fathom, it was beyond human. It's what humans called love but I call it divine lust.
"Yes I'm looking forward to it," I told her
"Okay, see you tomorrow then"
"Goodnight"
I ended the call and took a very deep breath, you know that kind of breath you take because of excess delight.
"Hey Hermit" I heard Audrey's voice call from the door
"What is it ?" I complained
"I just wanted you to come join me to watch a movie" she requested
"No, I'm feeling sleepy right now"
There was silence for a few minutes which made me think she was gone but I was wrong.
"Really Hermit?" She spoke again
I thought of what to do to make her leave.
Eureka!, I should assure her I'll do it tomorrow. That would be better.
"Okay, Audrey tomorrow"
"Alright" she drawled
I knew she didn't like the idea, and she would go on about it later.
That being done, I squeezed myself under the duvet, did my usual prayers, and had a peaceful sleep.
