"Ready…set…give me the support."
Olivier watched the sword master head forward toward the opposite team. Their strategy was simple - kill the other team before they could kill the boss. Since everyone had two lives in this match, Olivier's team was aiming to remove one of the opposite players permanently.
It was a pro-strategy often used in high-level games and it generated a lot of advantage for the attacking side if played right.
"I am not sure if this is alright. We are risking the other team winning this boss from us. Won't the level difference matter later?"
Aqua asked the question a lot of rookies asked.
"It will be alright. Even if the opposite team wins the boss, if we can reduce their team count to a 3-vs-2, we will always have a chance at a comeback. Besides, this is only the first boss."
Allen sounded excited. Olivier maneuvered his avatar behind Allen's sword master in a manner that would hide his presence when he attacked.
Their first target was boss Xiao, the long-ranged attack on the opponent team. He was the only real threat to a sword master like Allen.
[Yo, Boss Xiao. Did you miss me?]
Allen asked in the group chat before his sword master became visible to the mage.
[You brat. So, you think you can kill me so easily? Well, bring it on.]
The mage cast powerful spells and aimed them toward the sword master. But Allen was fast and he dodged them completely.
Thankfully, his moments were not complicated and Olivier was able to keep up with him and hide his presence.
[Not bad old man. You are making it difficult to approach you like this. But, what will you do when I try something more devious?]
Allen asked the mage and boss Xiao's moments got even more eccentric and his casting better aimed.
Suddenly, Allen took a sharp right turn which Olivier did not follow. Olivier was finally exposed to the enemy but it was far too soon according to their plan.
Olivier now had a choice to make. He could either follow the plan even after he was exposed, or he could try and play like he wanted to.
'But do I even have a choice in this matter? This fucker, Allen, majorly screwed me over.'
Because Olivier was exposed now, he had no choice but to fight and win. Olivier decided to throw the plan away and improvise on the situation.
"What the hell are you both doing? This was not what we planned for. Hey, did you both leave your team leader out of the secret plan? Is that what is happening? Reply to me!!!"
Aqua cried over the coms but the other two ignored Aqua's loud voice.
Olivier aimed his gun to attack the mage before he could cast any skills. Allen used this time to attack the opponent as well.
While Allen was reducing the opponent mage's HP, Olivier noticed something weird.
The boss's HP was lowering at a slower than usual rate. Someone had stopped trying to attack the boss and seemed to be heading over to help the mage out.
"Allen, use everything to kill the mage now. I think the summoner is coming here as well."
Olivier' finished speaking in the nick of time before a goblin attacked their side.
One turned into two and two into four and then even more. These low-level grunts were annoying but not difficult to take care of. Heck, even a healer like Aqua could take care of them using the 'holy' skill.
"There are a lot of low-level summonses. Don't you think this is a little weird? What could the other team be planning? Hey, what the hell? Aren't I too far away from you both?"
Aqua's yell made Olivier realize what was happening. But he was not the only one to realize what happened.
"Fuckers. They are going after our healer but I do not think I can make it back in time. Hey kid, you keep the healer safe until I make it back."
Allen took charge of the situation as soon as he realized what was happening. The other team was trying to eliminate their healer first. They had abandoned the boss as well.
[First kill. Player Slushy has killed Player Magecrafter. First kill bonus is initiated.]
The mage was finally killed off but he would be back soon. Everyone had two lives in this game mode after all.
But the problem was the number of goblins summons swarming the field. It would take time for the sword master to clear them out.
At this time, a 2-vs-1 against the healer could very well end up with the healer dying in under a minute.
"Hey, I can take care of myself. I can buff up my defense and…"
"Healer, use all your mana to continuously heal your HP. I will get the enemy off your back."
Olivier promised as he readied his gun. He had yet to use any of his MP and Olivier was at a decent enough level.
"Kid, do not try to take my spotlight…"
Olivier did not listen to the rest. He quickly chose a tree that had a good spot for shooting and aimed his gun toward the summoner on the other team.
A summoner was a strong unit but they had a fatal flaw. They could not defend themselves when they were summoned.
That was why a team usually paired them up with a healer or a tank who could protect the summoner.
But currently, the opposite team did not have any of such things.
[Hahaha, your healer is dead now. Try and hit me, shooter]
Terry taunted in the game chat and Olivier pretended to aim for the berserker.
But Olivier hit the summoner again and again. His attacks were fast and stabbed the summoner's hp down by 30%.
Terry paused for a second as soon as he realized that he was not the intended target for Olivier's attacks.
But then he snapped out of it and attacked the healer. It was a battle of endurance on both sides.
Terry attacked the healer for 5% but the healer healed for 4%. It was a slow-chipping game. But on the other hand, Olivier had already chipped away at the summoner for a solid 50% of the HP.
The summoner would lose his boost soon.
[Time for my ultimate.]
Terry boasted in the game chat and Olivier quickly used his high-mana move to disrupt Terry.
Now, a real pro would not have fallen for such a cheap trick. But Terry was not used to mind games in team matches. So, when his screen suddenly flashed brightly, Terry loses focus and missed his target.
"Oi kid, did you just play dirty?"
Allen asked with a small laugh in his voice. Out of everyone, he was the only one who recognized the play for what it was.
[Please continue playing. The counter has not hit zero yet.]
Olivier chose to type this in the in-game chat rather than saying this out aloud. He needed to concentrate on what to do next.
The game was somehow still even despite what had recently happened. But it was about to tilt in the opposite team's favor.
[Time for the boss raid is up]
The boss finally disappeared and it seemed that both teams had missed the massive bonus. Olivier did a quick job of disposing of the summoner on the other team while Allen finished off the berserker.
There were still 20 minutes left in the match but the screen showed a familiar notice that said 'Surrender'.
[Tsk, you disappointed me, big boss. I thought you would play this game until the end. Things were just getting exciting now.]
Allen typed in the chat. Anyone could see this and tell that Allen was disappointed and annoyed at the canceled match.
[You are late for the team practice and I cannot force the opposite team to play a 2-vs-3 in such a situation. Besides, I saw what I needed to see.]
The big boss did not elaborate on what that meant in the group chat.
Instead, Olivier had quite a few friend requests thrown his way. One was from the big boss, another from Aqua.
But the one that surprised Olivier the most was Allen.
Olivier accept the first two but rejected the last one from Allen. Instead, he sent a message to Allen which made the pro player crack up.
Allen's manager was started when he heard the sudden burst of laughter coming from his player. Allen was not one to laugh a lot or unnecessarily. Something massive must have happened.
"What is wrong? Why are you cracking up like this? What did you do now?"
The manager asked with a worried voice. But Allen just shook his head in delight.
"Oh, I just found a funny kid who is not intimidated by me. Look at the message he sent me after rejecting my gracious actions."
The manager looked at the screen message with conflicting feelings. There was only one line on the screen after all.
'Next time, send the request from your real account and I shall consider it.'
