The grayish-white haired lady knew that lycans are ready to kill their best friend, their family or anyone dear to them if he or she poses a threat to their mate, so when dealing with a lycan's mate, one needs to be careful.
If not for her spell shield, supreme alpha Alexander won't think twice before shredding her apart despite their relationship.
The spell shield is already becoming weak and can break any moment, luckily for her, Alexander was able to shift his attention from her towards his mate. She was relieved. She knew that though she's strong, she can't match up to the alpha's strength. In fact, no one in the pack can.
Alexander quickly drew his attention towards his mate. She's crouching at the end of the bed while her body shook repulsively due to fear. The intensive growl from Alexander made her jump awake as all the weakness suddenly left her body but she's terrified.
After witnessing the spooky death of her parents, she's scared of everything. The growl from Alexander and the way the grayish-white hair lady used her magic aroused a great fear in her.
She quickly crawled to the end of the King size bed and hid her face in her knees which shrugged up to her chin.
Alexander quickly noticed the fear in his mate. He should have controlled his anger rather than scare his mate.
He shut his eyes and was able to calm his wolf before he gently moved to the other side of the bed where his mate was hiding and shivering.
Alexander has never comforted someone or spoken sweetly to someone but now that his mate is involved, he has no option but to try his possible best to make her calm her trembling body and relax.
He slowly stretched out his hand and the moment it landed on Muriel's shoulder, her body stiffen and she quickly moved away. That action of hers caused her to nearly fall off the bed because she didn't notice she was already at the end of the bed and any slight movement from her will make her fall brutally but before she could fall, Alexander was fast to catch her and make her fall into his arms instead.
His heart literally skipped at his mate falling off from the bed. Alexander just can't explain what's going on with him. He's someone that doesn't know what fear or weakness is but right now, he's feeling helpless all because of his mate. She's now his greatest weakness and the thought of anything happening to her is his greatest fear.
This is ridiculous, Alexander had already decided not to accept his mate once the moon goddess decides to give him one after keeping him mateless for years.
He wants to show the moon goddess that he can live without a mate but right now, reverse is the case. He can't even think of a second without this fragile little girl in his arms. He can't believe that his weakness is this frail girl whom he can snap in just a second but the thought of doing so becomes his worst nightmare.
Muriel struggles in his embrace, this was the same man that growled like one of those spooky creatures that killed her parents.
Is he possibly one of those creatures, is he going to kill her just like they killed her parents.
Her body is shocked at that thought and she tries once again to waggle her body out from those large arms that hid her small frame.
"Alexander, you are hugging her tight, you might crush her to death," the grayish-white haired lady said.
She saw how the girl was struggling in Alexander's arms and thought she needed a space to breathe, this overly protective lycan might not give her the privilege.
At the mention of death, Alexander quickly released his mate. He didn't mean to hug her so tight, he just didn't want her to run from him. He wants her close in his arms and he also wants to calm her quivering body but it looks like having her in his arms makes the matter worse.
The moment Muriel was released from Alexander's arm, she tried to run away but Alexander quickly drew her back.
"Please don't run from me, I promise I won't hurt you," his voice sounds more like he's pleading with her. He has never used this calm and polite tone on anyone ever in his entire life. He's known to be cold, brutal and ruthless.
The grayish-white haired lady is not that surprised to see how the supreme alpha spoke to his mate with the most meek tone. That's how most lycans are once they find their mate but she never believed that the supreme alpha will ever bow his head for someone, he's literally pleading with his mate right now.
Hearing Alexander's cooing voice, Muriel slowly raises her head to stare at the beautiful dark green eyes… these eyes seem like they are pleading with her.
He said he won't hurt her, should she trust him?
The moment those hazel brown eyes stared into Alexander's eyes, he felt chill down his spine. His mate has the most beautiful eyes, he could be enchanted by them.
He hasn't seen her eyes as it was closed when he brought her to the pack and she was hiding it from him since she woke up.
Her eyes rhyme beautifully with her pale skin which looks as if she has not been touched by the sun. Her yummy pink lips look so kissable and her long bridge nose perfectly structured her flawless face.
He has been watching his mate's beautiful face since she was sleeping but now that she's awake and stare at him with those resplendent hazel brown eyes, she appears more beautiful than before.
Before he could stare longer at those beautiful eyes, his mate quickly took her face away as she stared down at the bed.
Alexander gently tilted her face up to stare into his eyes but she couldn't maintain eye contact with him, she looked afraid.
Alexander frowns inwardly, he's the great supreme alpha and likes it when others fear him and tremble at his feet but he doesn't want his mate to be afraid of him.
"Please look at me, don't be afraid."
Alexander has never used the word please but he doesn't mind using it right now if it's going to make his mate stare into his eyes without breaking off.
He gently pulled her chin up once again to stare at him, this time she didn't break off her eyes but they were wavering indicating the fear in them.
This hurts Alexander's beast but he knows that his mate is traumatized, very soon she will come around, well, that's what he thought but he wants it to come true. He wants her to stop being scared of him and open up to him, he knows it's too early since she's yet to know who he is to her but he can't help but wish so.
"What's your name?" He asks, his voice calm like never before.
Muriel finds this man different from the people that killed her parents. It looks like he meant his words when he said he won't hurt her but Muriel still finds it hard to believe him. He growled like one of those creatures that killed her parents so he must be one of them.
At the thought of that, Muriel quickly withdrew from him again and hid her face between her crouched knees as she started shaking. The brutal scene of how her parents died keeps on replying in her mind.
"Let me try," the grayish-white haired lady said.
Alexander stared up at her.
"Let me know if she will open up to me," she made sure to clarify herself to avoid the supreme alpha's rage.
Alexander hesitated for a second before giving her a chance.
The grayish-white haired lady draws closer to Muriel. She smiles and touches her but Muriel flinches and withdraws back.
"Don't be scared, we won't hurt you. My name is Madeleine. What's yours?"
Muriel quickly raises her head to stare at Madeleine.
Madeleine's voice sounds so much like her mother's voice. For a second, Muriel thought that was her mother speaking to her but her hopes vanished the moment her eyes fell on the unfamiliar beautiful white face.
But strangely this woman has a slight resemblance to her mother, she has the same emerald green eyes just like her mother.
Because of these interesting features about this woman, Muriel was interested in her.
