"Hic" Tears gushed out of her eyes as she knelt beside the grave that had 'Maria Valois' engraved on the gravestone.
"Mom, I'm sorry, it's all my fault. If only I hadn't left." Jade cried and tugged on her hair.
"I'm back, mom. Please hug me. You, you shouldn't be sleeping for this long, please stand up and tell me that everything would be fine."
"Hic Hic Hic" Jade rubbed her eyes to stop the tears, she had earlier steeled her resolve, pleading to herself not to cry in front of her mother, she wanted to show her mother that she's perfectly fine.
"No, no. I shouldn't cry, right? I should find Francis and destroy that place. Yes, yes. I'll do just that." Jade let out a dry and sad laugh.
She stood up and glanced at the grave one more time.
"I'm sorry I couldn't get you flowers, but I'll bring them to you when I destroy that place, you like rare roses, right? I'll get you black ones." Jade smiled and walked away, out of the cemetery.
Revenge was nigh.
* * * *
"Argh, dammit." Jade cursed and slumped on the floor after completing a hundred push ups.
"Oh dear Francis, I've made you wait for two years, please be safe." Jade closed her eyes.
Its been two years since she left the traffickers den and during those years, plans were made and sometimes she would get so close to giving up on the revenge but every morning when she wakes up in this small empty apartment alone, her thirst for revenge rekindle.
There has been no news on Francis's whereabouts, so the last two years were for intense training.
Jade stood in front of the mirror and flexed her unnoticeable muscles, she picked up the phone from the table. A message notification popped up on the screen, it was a message from Mr Kaden.
Jade sat hurriedly on the bed and quickly tapped on the message. It might be a lead on Francis.
- Happy birthday, Jade dear -
"Haa, wow. I'm twenty five." Jade chuckled, it was her birthday today and she totally forgot about it. Mr and Mrs Kaden had been taking care of her for the past two years. And thankfully Mrs Kaden was mentally stable now.
"Should I get a cake or should I just get on with my plan?....Nah, I think the latter would be fine."
"Ring Ring"
Jade turned to the phone and picked it up.
"Yup?"
-Hey Jade-
"Lyssa?"
-Yes-
"You... I've been trying to reach you. Where the hell have you been?"
-On sea, of course, Where else?-
"..."
-We've been trying to find out about something for a while now-
"What? Is it some kind of treasure?"
-No, not at all-
"What's it then?"
-Haha, nothing really. No need to worry-
"Ookay, but I really need your help though."
-With what?-
"I need a boat."
-Why?-
"..."
-No way, don't tell me you wanna go back to that place-
"Eh, not really." Jade scratched the back of her head.
-"..."-
"Hey, are you there? I just need the boat for..."
"Beep Beep Beep"
"It disconnected?" Jade stared at the screen of the phone.
"Damn, I'll have to do it myself then. I've booked a plane to where all this started. I'll clear everyone of them from the bottom to the top!" Jade hardened her grip on the phone.
* * * *
The ride to the cemetery was short. Jade held a small white box and a bunch of Galanthus flower in her hand.
"Hey mom, how have you been? Its been quite a long time, estimatelly eight hours thirty seven minutes and a few seconds." Jade chuckled.
"It won't be long before I get your black roses."
"I'm leaving today and fortunately today is my birthday, that means I'll be lucky, right? Remember when you said one gets a lot of luck on their birthday?" Jade sat on the grass land and open the white box.
"Mrs Kaden bought a birthday cake for me and I brought a piece for you." Jade took out the small piece of cake from the box.
"See this? It's a snowdrop, it's quite rare but it's the season now." Jade placed the flower and piece of cake near the gravestone.
"Hehehe, worry not, Mother. I'll come back, I won't die. I would live for you and I would look for Francis." Jade's eyes watered as she said promising words, words that the percentage of successful fulfilment were deadly low.
Jade continued to blabber on and on and on without receiving any reply from the person she was talking to, her voice was the only sound that was heard in the cemetery.
After sometime, Jade stared at the time on her wrist watch.
"Hey mom, I'll be leaving now... I really want to say something that I've been keeping to my self for a very long time... I wish I said it before I left seven years ago.
"You've said it to me a million times but now I feel stupid for never saying it to you when you were still alive. Heh, I wanted to keep it and tell you when I get back but I don't want to make the same mistake, I don't want to take that risk." Jade tried to contain the tears that was building up in her eyes.
"I would say it now and I'll keep on saying it all my life even though I know you won't be able to say it back to me."
"I love you, mom" Jade turned her head and hurriedly walked away from the grave. She didn't want to make the mistake of letting her mother see her cry again.
