Chereads / LETHAL HYBRID / Chapter 7 - Cleansing 1

Chapter 7 - Cleansing 1

Jade closed the door gently to avoid drawing attention with the creaking, the hall way was dimly lit and void of life, it felt like she was the only person in the inn.

The deafening silence was beginning to get to Jade, the creep and fear of the unknown was frustrating.

Jade quietly climbed down the wooden stairs, her heartbeat accelerated with every step she took. With the gun held out in front of her, Jade hid behind a wall and peeked at the innkeeper's desk... but it was empty.

"What? Did they evacuate?"

"Damn, this wouldn't be fun if it's too easy."

Jade sighed and brought out the walkie talkie from her pocket.

"Ahem, cough." Jade coughed to clear her throat before deepening her voice.

"Where are you guys? Was there a change of plan?"

-No, we are close by... but damn man, what the hell is wrong with your voice?-

"Well... Ahem, the young girl put on a little fight, so..."

-Yeah yeah, whatever-

"Shit, that was close. Are they that close that they can even notice the voice change through a walkie talkie? I'll be damned if their teamwork is that good." Jade thought.

Jade walked on her tiptoes to the innkeeper's desk, she searched around the desk for an important or useful information but then she felt something cold under the table.

Jade quickly brought the cold metal out an't with her little knowledge about guns it could be said that what she saw was a...

"Oh sweet heavens, it's a rifle... and oh, a bullet box too. Who left such a beautiful gift for me?" Jade chuckled and hung the rifle, she took the box of bullets and marched back upstairs making sure not to make a single sound.

Good thing for Jade, the inn had a door to the roof and Jade got there in no time, she placed the rifle down and laid down on her belly.

"Oh, it's loaded, that's good." Jade placed back the magazine.

"Let's see... muzzle is all good, silencer... check, scope... check. All good then." Jade looked through the scope. She spotted a black mini van a few meters away.

"Oh, there you are... But one car? Seriously are you underestimating me?" Jade lashed out but sighed after a while, she couldn't blame them since she knew that they were used to girls crying and begging.

"Poor souls." Jade faked a look of pity and remorse.

Her lips stretched and her silvery grey eyes twinkled, she watched the mini van come to a stop at the front of the inn.

Jade grinned evily. This wasn't just revenge, it was also cleansing to make sure that people would never pass through hell like she and Chloe did in the hands of these mongrels.

"I should probably go into criminal purging when I'm done with this guys, this feeling is amazing." Jade thought happily and looked through the scope. The men were just getting out of the car. There were five men all dressed in black and with black masks over their faces, one of them held a walkie talkie near his mouth probably trying to contact the cab driver.

Jade locked on her target and immediately took a shot.

Perfectly timed, the man fell.

"Shit, it's an ambush!" The man with the walkie talkie, who seems to be the group leader shouted and hid behind the car door.

Jade grinned but the smile didn't reach her eyes.

"This is for my mom." Jade said and pressed the trigger, killing one of them in a millisecond.

"This is for Francis." Jade muttered and shot another.

No matter how the men tried to hide, the bullets still got to them even Jade was surprised at her sudden expertise in the use of a long range weapon.

"This is for all the years I wasted in that shithole." Jade muttered and pressed the trigger, sending another man to the afterlife."

"This is for Chloe."

Another man fell.

"... And this is for Brad." Jade shot at the last one, she left the rifle at the roof and went back down stairs.

Jade walked to the car after leaving the inn.

"Urghh" A cry of pain came from the other side of the car.

Jade slowly walked to the place where the sound was coming from.

One of the men was laying on the ground, he twitched uncontrollably and pressed his hands against his arm.

"Huh? Still alive?" Jade tilted her head, she crouched down and pulled the man's mask off.

Jade's eyes widened. The face behind the mask was that of a young boy barely eighteen. Her heart lurched in anger and pain.

Jade quickly knelt down besides him and drew him up by his collar.

"You, what are you doing here?"

"I, I am sorry. They said we were coming to take a package and deliver it to them."

"What them?"

"I, I don't know. There never tell us."

"Argh, idiot. At this rate you would die of blood loss."

Jade brought out the little purse from her hand bag.

"I would try removing the bullet but there's no pain reliever, so..."

"What? No, no, no." The kid shivered in fear and the stifling pain of having a bullet in one's body.

"What no? Wanna die?"

The kid shook his head.

"Good." Jade nodded and carried out her unprofessional and amateur treatment.

She removed the bullet first, not without gagging the young kid, who was practically screaming his lungs out.

"Thank God I brought all this with me." Jade sighed, she cleaned her bloody hand with a piece of cloth and took out a bandage from her bag, she wrapped it around his wounded arm and slowly soothed him to stop crying.

"How can they let kids do their dirty job fod them. Argh, that's more reason I want to get rid of them all." Jade muttered angrily. With his reaction from a shot in his arm the kid was obviously new in this job.

Jade slowly helped him up into the inn. Since she couldn't just leave him here, her purging would be postponed to the next day.

Jade laid him on the bed, she searched for a pain relieving drug but all she found was tramadol and some hard drugs.

"This is so wrong but it's for your good." Jade made him swallow a tablet.

That was all for the night, she sat on the floor and leaned against the wall.

It wasn't long before she drifted to sleep.
