"Knock knock"
A soft knock on the door woke Jade up, she quickly stood up, picked up her gun and walked to the door. Jade glanced at tge injured kid who was still sleeping soundly on the bed, with the gun held in front of her, Jade slowly opened the door.
The person standing outside the door was the innkeeper, she held a tray of food in her hand, her lifeless eyes swept across the floor.
Jade slowly brought the gun down, she opened the door wide and letted the innkeeper come inside the room.
"Why are you still here?" Jade leaned against the door and asked with a lazy gaze.
The innkeeper kept silent, only moving her dull eyes once in a while.
Jade sighed.
"Those bad guys, there are gone so you can leave this place." Jade tried to cheer her up but was met with silence again.
Jade squinted her eyes.
"Since you don't want to say anything, you can leave the room now." Jade walked away from the door, she took the tray from the innkeeper lady and placed it on the table. The innkeeper immediately left the room without turning back even once.
"What's wrong with her?" A pained voice came from the other side of the room.
Jade turned to the voice.
"You're awake, how's your arm?" Jade ignored his question.
"It's... better."
"Mhm... You should go back to your family, kid."
"...I don't have one."
"I don't know what to do with you but Kid, one way or the other you wouldn't have to go back home."
"Why can't I go with you?"
"I can't take a kid with me."
"Kyle."
"Huh?"
"My name... It's Kyle."
"Oh, Hi, Kyle." Jade said nonchalantly and opened the lid of the food.
"Are you gonna eat that? What if it's poisoned?"
"If it's poisoned, then we die. No big deal." Jade shrugged.
"Here, eat this. Thankfully, the innkeeper brought proper medicines."
"I'm not gonna eat that."
"What? Wanna die?" Jade frowned.
"No no no, I'll eat." Kyle shuddered and shook his head.
"Good."
********
It's been a week since Jade started staying in the inn with Kyle.
The kid's gun wound was almost healed but nobody has shown up since then.
Jade was worried about this, if the rest of the guys don't her from the first group, weren't they supposed to come in search of them? The only person who came was the weird innkeeper who only came to deliver food.
Jade sighed.
"You've sighed for like a hundredth time now." Kyle glanced at Jade with squinted eyes.
"Shut up, kid."
"I said it's Kyle!" Kyle yelled.
"Are you yelling at me?"
"Huh, how would I dare to."
"Good for you, kid." Jade nodded and sighed again.
"We would be setting out today, take me to the place you guys usually deliver the 'package' and then we part ways, good?"
"The package is delivered at the port and we..." Kyle pointed at himself and Jade, the continued. "...aren't parting ways."
"Yes we are." Jade nodded.
"But I have no where to go to." Kyle whined.
"You can't come with me it's dangerous."
"I've been shot in the f***king arm, what makes you think that I can't handle a few bad guys?"
"You were shot... That's what makes me think you can't handle a 'few' bad guys." Jade added a lot of stress on the few.
"Are you mocking me?"
"Huh? I'm I?"
*******
"Can you drive?" Jade turned to Kyle as both of them walked to the black mini van that was used by the black masked goons before.
"You can't drive?" Kyle's eyes widened in shock.
"Must I be able to drive?" Jade answered the question with one of hers.
"No, it's just that... I thought there was nothing in this world that you couldn't do... It feels great to know that you aren't perfect." Kyke smiled.
"Want a fist in ya face?" Jade squinted her eyes and changed her accent.
"Thanks but no." Kyle hurriedly grabbed ghe car keys and rushed into the car.
Jade loaded all the guns into the car, the ones she brought, the ones from the inn and the ones brought by the masked guys, all were loaded into the car.
.....
The ride to the sea port was smooth and safe without any hitches, the easiness of this cleansing was not something to be happy about. It felt to good to be true.
"We are here." Kyle announced, cutting Jade's train of thoughts.
"Is this it?" Jade asked.
"Yes, this is where we deliver the package."
"But there's no one here."
"They usually take a ship tho. But I don't know where the ship goes to." Kyle said.
Jade nodded in realisation.
"I know where it goes to."
She opened her bag and took out some bundles of money.
"Here, go rent a good both for me... and I trust you won't run with my money."
"Absolutely not." Kyle quickly went to rent a boat.
Jade looked around the place, there was absolutely nothing suspicious about this place, it just seemed like a normal sea port.
Jade sighed, she was going back to the place that brought a lot of nightmares to her, it wouldn't be an easy feat. But there was one person she was dying to meet.
"I hope you are doing well, Brad."
...
"What is that?"
"A boat, don't worry it would do just fine and I bought some snack and drinks too." Kyle smiled proudly.
Jade sighed.
"How much money did you use in renting that boat?"
"A lot actually."
Jade touched her temple.
"We are infiltrating, Why on earth would you buy something that flashy. It's not like we are going on a vacation or something."
"We didn't buy it, we rented it for a week." Kyle hurriedly tried to justify himself.
"That's not the point, young man. And what makes you think that boat would return to it's owner?"
"Of course it would be returned."
"No, it won't, it would be obliterated by bullets and missiles."
"It would?"
"See? More reasons why you shouldn't come with me."
Kyle groaned and murmured.
"Stop whining like a kid and go get all the guns from the car." Jade ordered.
"Yes, captain."
It was time to sail and it was time to clean.
