Chapter 20 - Getting The Ball Rolling

"My name is Minos, and I'm here to talk business."

"Business? What business could a kid your age have?" Venix seemed annoyed, and was about to slam the door, but before he could, Minos reacted.

Pulling a talisman out of his robe, he tossed it forward, letting it land precisely in the gap of the closed door.

Venix was a bit curious, and opened the door once more before grabbing the talisman and looking at it carefully.

"Ice Shard Talisman? Does it really work?" Venix said, with slight astonishment in his voice.

"Naturally it works, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Since you recognize those strokes, you must have dabbled in talismans yourself in the past."

"Dabbled, but never mastered. Unfortunately I seem to lack talent in that regard, and I could never get the strokes to flow smoothly." Venix said, with a bit of regret in his tone.

"Where the heavens give, it also takes. Given your cultivation talent, it's only fair that you would lack this skill." Minos replied with a slight smile.

"The heavens give nothing, it only takes." Venix was suddenly angered by Minos's words, clearly seeing them as some sort of insult.

"No need to get agitated. Whether the heavens give or take is of little concern to me. I'm much more interested in what I can give to you, and what I can take in return."

"What do you mean?"

"It's simple. I need to borrow your strength in order to sell these talisman. Based on the market price, you can take 10% of the sales, and if you can manage to sell them higher than market value, then you can keep everything extra." Minos said

"10%? It's too low, I want 50%" Venix responded.

"50%? You've got quite an appetite, but let's be reasonable. You are doing next to no work, this money is earned for free. Besides, given your reputation, it's unlikely anyone else would ever work for you. I'm being more than generous giving you this opportunity."

Minos had no plans of playing any games. Like he said, the 10% was already very good considering the work Venix had to do, and his own circumstances.

This doesn't even include the fact that Minos lets him keep any extra points he could earn from up-selling the talisman's.

Venix seemed to notice Minos's unfaltering position, and decided to take what he was given. He naturally knew how good a deal this was, but it's human nature to try to get as much as possible.

"Okay, we have a deal. So when do we get to work?" Venix asked, revealing his shiny white teeth, clearly taking Minos as the ringleader.

"Once you become an outer sect disciple. At that point your position will be completely solid, and the sale of some low-level talisman shouldn't push any boundaries." Minos said quickly, clearly having thought this through.

The last three days hadn't only been spent making talismans and training. Instead Minos spent a couple hours everyday in the outer disciple bazaar to learn the environment and understand what lines he could and couldn't cross.

As long as he only dabbled with low-level talismans, he should be safe, but if he wanted to expand his business to mid and top-level talismans, he'd likely have to fight some people.

Now wasn't the time to fight, not to mention he only knew three low-level talisman at this point, so it was a moot idea at the present regardless.

What was important now was to start raking in the contribution points so that Minos could finally buy a mid-level Lock Breaking Pill. While he had yet to be to the inner disciple bazaar, just by asking around, he learnt a mid-level Lock Breaking Pill went for around 2000 contribution points.

Compared to the low-level Lock Breaking Pill that could only be consumed once due to how many impurities it had, the mid-level Lock Breaking Pill could be consumed multiple times, and one wouldn't have to waste any time refining away the impurities left in their bodies.

Minos had long since been tired of being at the First Life Lock, but without the help of pills, it would likely take him years to breakthrough, hence he needed a lot of money.
