I parked my motorcycle in front of the sheriff's office at the V.I.P area parks. The security there told me to park here.
"Julia? Is that you?" I haven't taken off my helmet, but a woman tapped my shoulder. She has a book in her hand and furrowed her brow.
"Yes," I said. I took off my helmet, and she give me a book. Her face start red.
"C-c-can I have your autograph?"
Oh, she wants my autograph. I took her pen and give her an autograph with a smile on my face. I never found a person to ask me for an autograph. All they asked was to take a picture with me or to want an interaction.
Because of that, I always have anxiety. Besides, this girl in front of me is a nerd. Maybe she's the Sheriff's daughter. "Evie!" I looked at behind me.
Jason approaching us. She grips her book tightly and leave me as Jason walked towards her.
I think she likes this overprotecting guy. "Nice to see you again." He took a deep breath. "You invited by my sister to have dinner with us. The sheriff will give you my sister's address…" before he could finish his words, the sheriff approached us.
"Jason?" Jason glared at him and clenched his jaw. His arm gripped as he stared at the old man, who was wearing a cowboy's hat. "How's your sister going?" He asked to Jason.
Jason growled as he leave and ignore the sheriff calling. I looked at his back as he faded from my view. "You already know him?" I'm nodding my head.
"He nearly punched me last night."
He took a deep breath and exhale it slowly through his mouth. "I'm sorry on the behalf of my residence." He patted my shoulder. "Followed me. I know a place where we can talk about this."
We walked down this street for a couple of blocks. This town has a lot of old building and that was a saloon?! "In my town, we try to rebuild what the past have leave to us." He pulled the door for me and followed me from behind.
This is my first time to step on my foot at this restaurant. It's quite popular, I guess?
"Good morning, handsome." Said the black woman in uniform.
"Julia, this is Dorothy McKenna. She's my wife." Said the sheriff to introduce her wife to me.
I shake her hand, and she looks gorgeous. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. McKenna." I bow my head.
"Don't call me Mrs, young lady. I'm not that old," we chuckled as she pours us some coffee. "Ready to take your order yet?"
I picked the menu and read them all one by one. It's not that much like the restaurant usually operates, but I'm tempting to taste them all. "I want…" It's still morning, anyway.
"The regular, Dorothy. She's not get used to it," Dorothy walked her way to the kitchen. I put the menu on the side and raised my eyebrow. "People here likes to eat at this dinner because of the food and the atmosphere. Do you have… any question?"
I have a ton of questions that I want to ask on my mind right now.
He gave me a scrap of paper. "You can work for me as a lumberjack. Have you held an axe or a chainsaw before?"
I'm nodding my head.
He crossed his leg and straightened his body. "You a Boy's Scout before?" He asked.
"I never joined the Boy's Scout, but sometimes I go out camping and spending the rest of Christmas Day in my cabin." I took a deep breath. This diner's coffee was too strong for me.
"Why you did not runaway to your cabin?"
Is this some kind of interrogation, or what? When I'm about to get my green card to staying here, they never asked those questions or maybe he just want to have an interview with my boss.
"Bored."
Mr. McKenna nodding his head while he laughed.
"Here's two breakfast platters." Dorothy put our food on the table. "Want to refill your coffee?" She looks at me.
I shook my head and sip the coffee again. "No, thank you."
"You don't like coffee, Julia?" He asked.
Okay, this guy in front of you is a sheriff and mayor. Never lied to him or you get trouble. Just be yourself, keep calm, and don't forget to smile. "I never have… breakfast like this before." I said, as I cut these sausages.
It's true. I almost fainted many times because what he care was fame.
I took a bite. "This is delicious." The scramble egg cooked perfectly. It's like Gordon's Ramsay's scramble egg. Bacon, the toast, hash brown, mushrooms, tomatoes, and… baked beans? It's British breakfast?
"What's wrong? You don't like it?" He raised his eyebrow.
No, I shouldn't make a trouble. "No, sir. I just… have allergies with beans. I-I mean, I like the food, but…"
He chuckles and shook his head. "This town was a British soldier's camp before. After the war, some of them leave and return to their country. They decide to build Rockeness."
I nodding my head and we talked as we devour our food.

I parked my motorcycle in front of a bookstore. That bookstore was cozy and minimalist. It matched with the theme. Full of glass in front, green light and white paint, and you can see what's inside. I took a deep breath and walked towards the front door.
A bell ringing from above. "Welcome…" the woman in front of me gasp, widen her eyes, and covered her mouth. "I-It's Julia! The rumor was true. Y-you were here!" She covered her mouth again and looks at her surrounding.
I'm scratching my hair and chuckled. My heart beats faster than usual. "Y-yeah…" I took a deep breath and shook my head.
"Oh, I-I'm sorry. Am I… make you uncomfortable?" She touched my arms.
I pulled my arms. Shit, my bad. "I'm s-sorry. I-I… don't mean…" she chuckled and waved her hand.
"Don't worry. I know you have OCD and don't like to interact with another person, right?"
I followed the owner to an empty room. It's dark and dirty. "This is… my room?" She nodding her head and leave me in front of this empty room. I took a deep breath.
I should be grateful for what I received from now on.
