Chapter 30 - Back from the Forest into the Sea

As soon as Viswa entered the forest.

Mr. Guide appeared out of thin air.

"Hi, Mr. Guide. I was just about…" *BAM*

Viswa didn't even finish his sentence before a fist came flying through the air and sent him flying into the tree next to him.

He felt like he saw a couple of stars on his way there. He shook his head repeatedly to come back to his senses. Mr. Guide is standing in front of him with a wicked grin on his face.

Before Viswa could say or do anything, Mr. Guide caught a hold of his collar and threw him over his shoulder.

*BAM*

Viswa crashed into the ground and felt his world shake even more.

Mr. Guide is as big as a rat, but Viswa felt completely powerless as he got his ass handed to him.

"Mr. Guide. Please use your words."

[Huh, you have balls. How dare you ignore my instructions? Didn't I specifically tell you that you cannot use anything other than your fists to deal with this opponent?]

Viswa looked at him with shock apparent in his eyes. He stood up groggily and asked.

"Really? Did you really abuse me for something like that Mr. Guide?"

[Didn't I tell you, that a penalty would be placed on you, if you break the rules?]

The next moment a system prompt appeared in front of Viswa.

[YOU IGNORED THE INSTRUCTIONS OF YOUR GUIDE AND THUS A PENALTY IS ACTIVATED. RESTRICTIONS ON HOST'S PUNISHMENT HAVE BEEN LIFTED PARTIALLY.

GUIDE CAN PHYSICALLY PUNISH VISWA ON TOP OF ELECTRIC SHOCKS.]

Viswa's jaw almost hit the floor.

He looked at Mr. Guide and then at the system.

He knew that Mr. Guide liked torturing him with weird methods. Even his training felt like torture at times. But he didn't think that he would set him up like this.

"So, you set the rule knowing that I would have to break it."

[What the hell are you talking about? I don't understand.] Mr. Guide said that, only if that prideful expression is not present on his face, it would have been more believable.

Viswa sighed weakly as he got up and dusted himself off.

[Anyway, your training starts again. Use only a side kick to finish the next beast you come across. If you use anything else, you are going to get your ass beat.]

Viswa walked into the forest and came across his first beast. A deer.

He started his fight.

Time passed with Mr. Guide imposing all kinds of restrictions on Viswa's fights.

Seven days passed just like that.

Viswa came back from the forest.

He made strides in his cultivation as well as combat training. He felt strong and powerful than ever before. He is very close to breaking through, he believed that a week to ten days would be enough to reach the criteria.

But he decided to come out of the forest for now and halt the constant training grind. Because he needs to finish some missions to get promoted to circle 2 and for him to finish this with minimum effort, he needs to finish Circle 1 missions while he is still in circle 1 only.

He went to the main building to check on the mission and he was dumbfounded.

Mission: Hunting Assistant

Description: Act as an assistant for a hunting team and help with menial tasks.

Duration: 1 Day

Reward: 3 Mission Points.

Mission: Escort kids to the town

Description: Escort….

Duration: Half a day

Reward: 2 Points.

As he looked through the missions, Viswa felt dumbfounded. Most of the missions in circle 1 gives out only 2 to 3 points. Some rare missions give out 5 points. And he needs 500 points to be promoted.

He sighed at the state of things. He could only browse through the missions and soon came across few missions at the absolute bottom of the Circle 1 list.

And unlike the missions before, the format of these missions are a bit different and this format is more to Viswa's liking. He looked at them for a moment and picked two of them.

Mission: Courier for Fishermen.

Description: Black Sand Fishing fleet has a bunch of fishing ships in the sea. Act as a courier between the boats and the company on ground.

Duration: Indefinite

Reward: Based on the task assigned to the courier.

This is the first mission.

He asked the person in charge of the mission assignments to know more about the details and he felt like this mission is what he should be doing.

Black Sand Fishing Fleet is actually an official fleet that focuses on scouting the sea premises as well as defeating the beasts in the sea.

And the fleet stays in the sea for months at a time.

The couriers' job is to go and deliver messages to the fleet and get a message back safely if there are any. Of course, there are levels of this fleet and the ships.

So, there are some ships that focus on Elementary Level Initial Stage Beasts and they are not too deep into the sea. This job can be taken by a Circle 1 Students.

The best part is that the rewards are not fixed. It would depend on the shipment they are carrying and the distance they have to travel to finish a delivery. Based on that a reward for the round trip is decided when a courier was given a task.

Viswa learned that there are some couriers who even earned dozens of points by making a single delivery.

And then there is the second mission.

Mission: Kill Elementary Level Initial Stage Spiritual Beasts of the Sea

Description: Eliminate as many beasts in the Sea as possible.

Duration: Indefinite

Reward: 5 Points for each beast.

This mission couldn't be more directly. All Viswa has to do is kill a couple of beasts within the city on his way back and he would be able to exchange them with the Black Sand Fishing Fleet to get some points.

Usually, each beast wouldn't be that rewarding. In fact, there is a similar mission in the forest and a beast of that level will only give out a reward of Two points.

But the battle in the sea is much more troublesome and bringing back the beast from the sea to prove that they have killed is even more troublesome. That is why, the mission is much more rewardful.

On top of that, there are very few people who actually take up the mission of cleaning the sea. There are way too many accidents and Sea has a bad history. So an inflated reward serves to attract some man power.

He registered himself for both missions and ran to the Black Sand Fleet office in the Village.

He met with the manager there who looked at him and sighed.

"Huh, another kid who wants to farm the points.

Kid, I am warning you, it is a difficult task to be a courier. You have to be on the small boat all by yourself. Even if it is just circle 1 mission, you would have to spend a day some times on a trip in the sea.

You would be alone and the sea is dangerous not just because of the beasts, but because of the humans as well.

This mission is better suited when you are about to enter Circle 2."

The manager tried to persuade him, but Viswa didn't mind. He just finished the registration process and luckily, a task is already at hand.

The manager gave something that looked like a compass to Viswa and told him to deliver a letter to a ship of the fleet. His task also includes bringing back a letter from the fleet.

"This compass is a special one. It will show you the direction of the fleet. Since it is a circle 1 mission, that means only Elementary Level Initial Stage level tasks are done by that ship. It wouldn't be deep. It will be safe.

But if it takes a whole day of travel and you are still unable to find the ship, please just return."

"Okay, thank you."

Viswa went to start the mission immediately and took the boat that was assigned to him. It is a small sailing boat that is just suitable for one person.

He had some experience with boats and it didn't take long for him to figure it out. And soon, he is out in the sea feeling the warm sun and the salty breeze on his face.

The first task is also not that difficult though, only after an hour or so, he managed to spot the ship. He hoisted a flag on the boat to indicate that he is the courier and someone from the ship came down through a rope ladder.

The exchange was quick.

Viswa delivered the letter and waited for twenty minutes, before he was given a letter. He brough the letter back after another hour or so of travel.

He didn't go for any sea beasts yet. He just delivered the letter and took another task to go back on to the sea immediately. In three hours, he managed to gain 3 points just like that.

As he went back into the sea, he decided to look out for some sea beasts to claim some more points. The only thing that made him dejected is that Mr. Guide just popped out of nowhere and put up another useless clause.
