Chereads / Slayer: Rebirth of a Soldier as Slave / Chapter 35 - Can't Catch a Break

Chapter 35 - Can't Catch a Break

Viswa tied up all the sword fish and threw them into the water.

He would very much like to carry them on the boat, but it might not be able to carry the weight of them all and there wouldn't be any space left for him to sit. Of course, there is a danger of the fish acting as bait and attracting some other fish.

But it might be for his own benefit.

After the fight with the six sword fish, he is feeling much more powerful and confident.

He tied everything up nicely, his bleeding also stopped and it is recovering well.

He sighed and slowly made his way to the shore.

After this trip, he needs to take a break. He would cook some sea food soup for himself and eat it happily.

But it hasn't even been five minutes, he sensed something which made him turn around.

His instincts screamed like crazy. He felt like he could die at any given moment. He braced for impact and…

*BAM* *CREAK*

The Sail boat was knocked by something huge. It flew like an arc in the air and luckily it landed properly on the water. Its mast is also not broken. But Viswa was not completely unscathed. He felt dizzy and suffocated for a moment.

He is yet to fully recover from his previous fight.

He looked at the direction where the impact came from and saw a large Shark fin. It looked while for most part, but there is a black mark on it.

The shark focused on Viswa, or most likely on the six sword fish that are still tied to the boat. It menacingly came to eat them. Viswa knew that shit would hit the fan if it came and hit the boat once again.

If he falls into the water, he would die.

There is no other possible outcome.

He got ready to cut off the ropes holding the swordfish and try to see if the shark would leave him off. But then only he realized that Shark is not actually after the sword fish, it is coming after him.

"What the fuck?"

Viswa muttered under his breath as he looked at the large shark jumping towards him with its maw wide open. He got ready to die. His body is soaked in sweat and he knew it would be the end.

At that moment.

*BAM* *SPLASH*

The shark was suddenly pulled by something into the water. But in process it's body hit Viswa and made him fly off the boat and land in water.

Soon, he saw blackish red blood spreading through the water and the Shark's body floated.

Then he saw a familiar face coming out of the water.

"Sir Warden?"

Viswa asked in surprise.

"Viswa?" Sir Warden was even more shocked.

Ten minutes later.

Both Viswa and Sir Warden are sitting in the sailboat.

The Large shark is also tied up the boat along with the fish.

"I doubt the boat would be able to pull it. We might have to row a bit."

"Its fine. I will do it.

Anyway, what are you doing in the sea?"

"I am close to getting into Circle 2. I wanted to finish off the mission point quota before pushing for breakthrough." Viswa explained while he dressed up his shoulder wound once again.

"So, courier and fish hunting? Not a bad strategy. But I don't think you should continue with it for a while. The beasts in the sea are acting weird."

"Yeah, even I thought that. The fish are all moving in a particular direction. The shallow waters in the sea shore of Black Sand City are very much full of dangerous beasts now.

So far, I have been doing decently well, but it has become hard to hunt for these fish."

"So, it is like this here as well."

"Here as well means?..."

"Don't worry about it. Let's just go back first. I need to examine this shark carefully. I might have found a lead to the Demonic aura your slave brand is reacting to."

Viswa was surprised then he remembered his own findings and explained.

"Well, I think I found a lead too…"

He then proceeded to explain the group that he narrowed it down to.

"I can vouch that the headmaster is not related and the instructors too. The only ones are the freshmen. The kids from Makar's group and the kids from orphanage. This is going to be troublesome."

"Why? What happened?"

Sir Warden looked at Viswa and shook his head.

"It doesn't matter. It doesn't concern you that much. Just be careful for now. It is better if you stay away from the sea for a bit."

"Alright, but still can you tell me where all these fish are moving towards? Is there is anything special in that particular direction?"

"I don't know, the only significant thing I can think of is the estuary. The river that goes through the forests of Black Sand Village's forest joins the sea there. Apart from that, there is nothing."

Viswa nodded and didn't say anything. They went back to the sea shore.

Sir Warden, brought them much faster and as soon as they got off, he pulled the shark back to the shore and immediately dissected it.

He didn't want to waste anymore time.

Viswa also stood nearby as he observed Sir Warden butchering the shark with ease.

Sir Warden examined each part of the shark, including its internal organs carefully and soon, he found something in the stomach.

It looked like a seed. But it is almost the size of an egg.

There is a familiar aura coming from it, but he couldn't feel any clues. He injected his spiritual energy just in case. All of a sudden, the seed burst out with demonic energy.

All the living creatures beside got effected.

The small crabs that are walking nearby got effected as they squirmed and of course, Viswa being a living being also got effected.

His Slave Brand burned up incessantly. He became paralyzed. He could feel something dark, evil and dangerous invading his body trying corrupt his being to the core.

The only one unaffected is Sir Warden. He immediately dropped the seed and caught a hold of Viswa to check up on him.
