"You are fucking kidding me. Aren't you Mr. Guide?"
Viswa asked while scratching his head. He is currently on his sail boat in the middle of the sea and just now the snob sprung up with the new condition.
[I am not kidding, you can only use grappling techniques while fighting with the beasts in the sea. Until I say otherwise, whenever you are in the sea, you should follow this order.]
"So, if I don't follow your order, you are going to deal another penalty to me?"
[Of course, that is a given. Here I am trying my utmost to give you the best training guidance and you are complaining like a bitch. So, there should be a penalty.]
"But most of the sea beasts are fish type, grappling techniques have minimal effects of them. I should put enough pressure to break and crush their internal organs after all, their respiratory system is not effected that much by grappling.
And the water is their homeground. It will be extra disadvantageous towards me."
[As I said, whining like a bitch. This time, I hope you don't break the rule. Or the penalty would be very severe. I highly doubt you would be able to endure it.]
Viswa looked at Mr. Guide as he gulped.
"Do you really mean it? Do you really hope that I won't face that penalty?"
[Of course, you are my student in a way.]
"Then why you do have that expression on anticipation on your face? What is with grinding your palms together? Why do you appear to be so eager?"
Mr. Guide froze for a second and the next moment.
*BAM*
A flying kick landed on Viswa's face.
[Stop tarnishing your teacher's name with such wild accusations. Just go on and train. You dumb trash.]
And he disappeared.
Viswa felt like he swallowed a bug. Fighting in water is already hard enough.
No matter how good he is at swimming, he wouldn't be better than a fish and most certainly not as good as a fish that could eat a human being for a snack. He is even more doubtful because he didn't even have Basic Swimming in his skill list.
And he has to use grappling in the water. Basically a lot of grappling moves are used with the ground as the leverage, if he couldn't get that leverage, his moves would be very limited to begin with. There is not much he could do though.
He just sighed and decided to move on.
On his way to the ship that he was supposed to go, he kept an eye on any large fish type beasts that could be within the path. He could mark their rough location and get them when he came back.
He took the long journey of reaching the ship and delivered the letter, he took the letter the ship crew gave and made his way back.
On his return path, he was slow and looked for traces around him, he even threw a couple of meat pieces in the water to bait the beasts to bite.
Soon, he managed to spot a fish.
It is one of the most common Elementary Level fish type beasts around this area. It is called the Purple Ray.
Viswa didn't know how this one got its name. But based on appearance its body structure looks more like a Salmon, but it is almost as big as a shark. It also has fangs and it had this killer intent that made Viswa be on edge.
He looked as the fish come and swallow the pieces of meat, before it diverted its attention of Viswa on the boat.
He could feel the fish sensing him, sizing him up. After two minutes, the fish rammed straight into the boat.
Luckily the boat is solid enough. It could even withstand a couple of hits from Middle Stage of Elementary Level Beasts.
It is strong.
Viswa balanced himself on the shaky boat. The fish hit the boat a couple of more times and seeing as that Viswa is not losing balance, it swam under the boat and gave a large hit right on its keel.
*BAM* *CREAK*
Viswa felt like the boat would roll over any time, he swayed way too much. It took a lot out of him to just not fall off of it.
At this moment, the fish suddenly jumped out of the water and came at Viswa with its mouth wide open. Viswa instinctively blocked the coming fish with his hands.
The fish bit into his hand and almost dragged him off the bot back into the water.
Almost.
Viswa fell on his butt on the boat and leaned his back against the boat as the fish tried to drag him away. He kicked against the hull and didn't let the fish drag him away.
And he yanked the fish towards him with his hand still stuck in its mouth. The fish that was supposed go back into the water inside the boat instead.
*BAM*
*CREAK*
The both creaked with the impact. Viswa was actually surprised. Even though the fish appeared big, it is not actually that strong. Particularly when it was in mid-air. He hurriedly caught a hold of its huge body and tried to choke its head, to break the spine at its neck and kill it before it starts beating around the boat for the lack of oxygen.
*SNAP*
And it didn't take much effort for him to do that. Only the blood squired out of when he broke it as the sheer force made a lot of bones break and poke out of it.
After all, he is not familiar with grappling giant fish, so the pressure seemed to have been applied at wrong points. The whole boat is painted with that fish blood. The stinky smell of the fish and the blood are mixed together created an odour.
He tried to cut the odor off with a cloth tied around his nose and mouth, but it didn't work that much.
At that moment, Viswa noticed the notification.
[YOU HAVE CHANGED THE DESTINY OF A PURPLE RAY. YOU OBTAINED 8 POSITIVE KARMA POINTS….]
He is surprised that he got five karma points just like that. Most of the time in the forest, he usually lost Karma points when he killed the beasts. The visual that came after the notification gave him a better understanding though.
Purple Ray are one of the fish that attack normal humans a lot. They are the main cause of death for normal fishermen who are not cultivators and since they move very close to shallow waters, no matter how many measures people take, they kill a human or two occasionally. Even if they didn't do that, they spoil the hunt of a lot of fishermen.
This is another good news for Viswa. After all, this is not just Mission Point Farm anymore, it is a Karma point farm as well.
He came back to himself as he raised the sail and went back to the village. He decided to take a couple of more trips that day before he called it off. He submitted the letter and the fish to obtain 12 points. Which is quite a haul.
After that, there are no immediate missions for courier, but the fishing company let him use the boat for his hunting in the sea. For which Viswa was delighted and went back into sea.
While Viswa is trying his best to farm for Karma and Mission points while getting familiar with Sea, in another village not too far away from here, at the sea shore, Sir Warden is looking at a couple of Purple Rays that are laid down on the beach.
But unlike the Purple Ray that Viswa killed they are a bit different.
They are a bit bigger and their purple scales are much darker, their eyes also became redder and finally, they fangs almost grew out of their mouth.
He examined their bodies for a while and turned to the village chief who is standing nearby.
"When was the first Purple Ray like this spotted?"
The village chief thought for a bit and said.
"The first spotting was actually around the Admission test of Black Sand Academy. We didn't care much and just thought a new variant appeared. After all, it is pretty common in the sea to have new variants. They also didn't show much physical differences.
Even the potion makers and pill makers that use Purple Ray to make cultivation resources said there are no differences in effects, so we didn't care much."
"What changed that? After all, when I asked if anything is worrying you recently and if there are any threatening changes, this is the one you mentioned." Sir Warden asked with a frown.
"Yes, it is because as time passed, the population of not just purple ray but other fish that are of same level increased by a large margin.
Even fish that should be much deeper into the water. Like the Yellow Sword Fish are appearing a lot closer to the shore and even they have many physical changes visibly.
We thought it is a great haul at first, but we started spotting beasts that are beyond Elementary Level and people are panicking. We lost a lot of people."
Sir Warden had a very concerned expression on his face as he looked at the fish in front of him. Even though they are dead, he is sensing a very familiar aura from them and he whole heartedly believed that it is not a good thing.
