The class of nearly a thousand students went deathly silent when Chadwick had said those words. He glanced at them briefly before moving to the book and looked at the words written. He could easily say everything written on it by heart but just didn't know where to start. Taking in a deep breath, he started.
"The history of magic and this academy reads more like a fictional story of some sort, and would be totally unbelievable if it were to b told in an age without magic. I will give as much details as I can and try to make you understand. From the different ideas I am sure you all already have, what I am going to say will confuse you. Just pay close attention."
He moved away from the book placed on the podium and returned his gaze to the students seated. He looked around for six students who usually showed up late. When he set eyes on them, he carried on.
"It is a passed on knowledge that magic in our world was brought to existence by a man named Agnar Teferi. Agnar Teferi was a man from the kingdom of Veldon, the same kingdom which is now nothing but ruins. Once upon a time, the kingdom of Veldon was one of, if not the greatest kingdom with the strongest army within the borders of this empire."
"Veldon, huh? That's where I was born," Wallace said to seemingly no one.
The twins were listening intently to his words. A smile appeared on their faces when the name of their father was mentioned. It did rub them oddly as their father was being referred to in past tense as though he was dead. The people really did think he was no more.
"Before I continue, I am sure you all have heard different stories about this man and his brother. I urge you to question and then accept what you believe is the truth. Even I have doubts." He told the students. The last statement, he mumbled to himself.
"Exactly three hundred and twenty-five years ago, a man from the kingdom of Veldon claimed to have found a mystical stream that granted him powers. He performed supernatural feats, healed the sick almost effortlessly. Illnesses that were deemed incurable were immediately cured. Fatal wounds were no longer fatal as long as you were touched by this man."
"While some were fascinated by the powers of this man, most people were not and accused him of being a man of evil. How could he explain his powers coming from a stream? a stream that no one had ever seen and he refused to take anyone to. He was cursed, tortured an kept in captivity unless he provided true answers to his 'sorceries' as they called it."
"A witch, or wizard, sorcerer or whatever, in those days were always deemed evil and needed to be gotten rid of once discovered, but he was insistent that he was not like the others and was blessed with these powers. The people would not believe him nonetheless."
"Countless times he would get captured, countless times, he would escape the clutches of death. The more time passed, the more men like him showed up. Men of magic that stood by him, fighting back the army sent by Kings and Emperors. Their goal was to let magic be accepted in the world and they sort out to make it possible even if it meant they had to fight the world."
"These men went from kingdom to kingdom passing on their knowledge of magic and still refusing to take people to the so-called stream of blessing. Slowly, they spread this magic across the world, pushing down their oppressors."
"These men; Agnar Teferi, Arik Lennon, Harris Moxley, Raymond Hartwell, Jack Silverstone, and Vincent Cohen, were the first wizards, the first true and truly accepted wizards. Everything we do now and are still learning to do, were all brought up by them from the scratch. These men finally achieved their goal and magic was accepted globally. They built up a base, and a small academy where those who wished to learn magic would go to to learn the arts of spell casting."
"At first very few people would show up, but when others saw the feats these people could achieve, they too wanted to indulge in it. Although the world was more open and accepting, there were still many who didn't approve of it and planned to put a stop to their activities."
"The six wizards knew of this but it didn't matter to them. They felt they were strong enough to face whatever came their way. They didn't only spend their time learning spells, but also preparing themselves for battles, possible war that could happen."
"In secrecy, and against the wishes of some of the other wizards, Agnar began building his army of wizards. All of them were mindlessly under his control. He planned to get rid of anyone who stood against him and carry on with his plan for world domination."
"Learning of this, Vincent and Arik set out to stop him at all costs. While the people plotted to rid the world of magic, there was already infighting amongst the wizards. When the people attacked, they were easily wiped off by Agnar and his men. From then on, he went forward to conquer different kingdoms one by one. Those who agreed with him, Harris Moxley and Raymond Hartwell were left to rule while he moved on to other kingdoms. These three men branded this kingdom under one flag, the flag of Teferi."
"They are the reason this continent is under the rule of two empires. Agnar Teferi moved from kingdom to kingdom, continent to continent, with his singular goal in mind - world domination. No matter whom had the courage to stand up against him, even without his army, without his compatriots, Agnar would singlehandedly, finish them off."
"This only tells how much of a great man Agnar was. A true badass." A student said with a wide grin. Kiyan picked up on what he said and turned to look at him. The student next to him had golden hair that fell by the sides of his face, stopping short of his shoulders. His skin was of a darker tone and his eyes looked distant as if daydreaming about something.
"Oh? You think so?" Kiyan asked.
"The man brought magic to the world, spread it to the world and then used it to take over the world. Singlehandedly he dealt with armies of presumably the strongest kingdoms had to offer. Ha! he was untouchable, inarguably the strongest man to have ever lived. He was a badass! "The boy replied. Kiyan turned away with a grin.
"He still is," he mumbled.
"Having had enough of his power driven acts of tyranny, Vincent, Arik, and others whom have sadly been forgotten, rose up to fight Agnar. They teamed up with the people, created a different version of warrior wizards compared to Agnar's army. To end the unnecessary bloodshed, the war between good wizards and the darkness of magic began."
