On the floor instead of a circle was a shapeless diagram. What was supposed to be an inner circle looked like a hopeless amoeba. The symbols were just scattered lines inside of it. The larger symbol looked like a face of horror with random circles in it looking like the hole patterns on SpongeBob. Well of course SpongeBob did not exist then, but if he did, Raten's diagram sure would give the image of a hopeless, horrified SpongeBob.
With a snap of the professor's fingers, Raten's drawing had cleaned off. "Start again, and make sure to look carefully at the circle and symbols this time," Said Elvis.
"It's no use professor. He still won't get it," Kiyan said.
"You can at least be supportive!" Raten responded.
"Focus and draw it," Elvis said and left him. Kiyan was paying close attention to what his brother was drawing. Anytime he was about to do rubbish, Kiyan would smack his head. He did it so many times, Raten's head was now sore. Frustratingly, Kiyan took the chalk and drew out the magic circle for him.
"As easy as that!" He said to his brother.
"I don't see how it is different from what I first drew," Raten murmured.
Most of their classmates had already activated the link and was focused on their mana build. Damien was having problems with pronouncing the spell properly. Simon was adding the last symbol to his, Rodney just sat staring at his circle.
"It's Kàshr, not Krishi." Rodney corrected Damien.
"Oh really?" Damien looked at his circle once more and said, "Kàshr." Nothing happened.
"You said it like a sneeze," Kiyan said.
"Just Kàshr Damien,"
"Ka.. ka, Kàshr," he said this time, not too fast that it sounded like a sneeze and not too slow either. He was more focused as well. As he said it, his circle glowed and covered him its array of light. He looked to be covered in a some sort of dome just like the others in class.
Damien whom had been hesitant, drew one last symbol and activated his link. Simon did as well. Almost everyone in class had their links up. The twins along with a few others just watched. Kiyan and Raten were observing the glow of their roommates. Surprisingly, though Damien always found it hard with magic, his circle was very bright and wide as well.
They then turned to Simon. His circle gave a dark glow that surrounded him like a fog. They were not the only ones whom were curious, Elvis took notice of that as well.
"I have seen this before, but where?" He asked himself trying to recall where he had seen a magic circle of that kind emit a glow of that kind.
"The rest of you, are you waiting for a special announcement or an invitation from your link before you activate it?" Elvis said to the others that were just watching.
"Kàshr." They said simultaneously.
Elvis raised his brow to the last two whom were still moping. They locked eyes with him and immediately stopped their observing.
"Kàshr," the twins said in unison and what followed was baffling and blinding.
"What on earth?!" Elvis was beyond shocked and visibly sweating. His eyes usually covered by his bushy eyebrows were widened, so much so it was much visible.
"What the- what happened?" A student whose link suddenly broke asked with a look of confusion.
"What's going on?!" Another asked with a perturbed look. She too had her link broken off.
"Ah! It's too bright!" A student said covering his eyes with his forearm.
Elvis still stood in place, stunned and speechless.
"Stop! Stop it!"
"Kiyan! Raten! Break the link!"
"You're, y-youre hurting.."
Elvis snapped out of his daze when he began to hear screams. At first it was just three, then more voices followed.
"What's going on? Who's doing this? Are you trying to kill us?!"
"AARGHH! Whoever's doing this please stop!"
Everyone enclosed by the glow began screaming. The glow of two magical circles grew stronger, moving fast and covering the class. Elvis began to worry. The students seeing what was happening, stood and ran behind the professor.
"What sort of trouble is this?" Elvis stretched forth his arm and a staff appeared in it. It had a crystal as its head that glowed as soon as it appeared. The students couldn't see it, but Elvis saw the power of his crystal leave his staff and move to the fast growing and rapidly moving magical circles.
"So that's what's happening." He got even more worried for the students that were entrapped by the blinding glow.
"Kàshr Términus!" He shouted and hit his staff on the floor. Sparks flowed from it and passed through the magic circle. For a moment, it looked like everything had paused. Cracks began to form on the circle as though it was glass.
Elvis held his staff with both hands firmly with his eyes closed. As soon as the circles broke, a large amount of energy spread across the room.
"Magae-térmus Concillûs!" He shouted. The wild energy that spread then came back together in a single ball and then dispersed.
The rest of the students behind him were looking at the rest of their classmates in horror. Elvis had his eyes on the two causes of the incident. He noticed the glow that emitted in their chests before it faded.
"They, they are not moving," one of the students said.
"Professor, are they.."
"They will be fine. Help me take them to the school's healer," Elvis responded stopping the student from asking his question.
More than half the students in the class were unconscious, the twins included. Those closest to the twins had blood spewing out of their mouths. Doing as their professor said, the rest of the students hurriedly moved everyone of them to the school's healer. After which they retired to their dormitory for Elvis had ended class for the day.
"Elvis, what happened?" A fairly old woman questioned. She looked at him wearily, through her dark wide eyes. She had short black hair and that fell by the sides of her heart shaped face. The number of students brought to her was alarming. There was not enough beds most of them were laid on the floor. "I know you to be careless sometimes, but this is too much."
"First of all, you still are not allowed to call my by just my name. Never do that again. Secondly, this is not my fault. Something... unexpected happened." Elvis replied. He walked to where the twins were laid. He was the one who kept them together.
He placed his hands on their chests and murmured some inaudible words. He opened his eyes in shock and then studied their appearance.
"Death?" He said in shock. Taking his hands off them, he shook his head. "I need to speak to her immediately," he said.
