Chadwick paused and looked at the students. Each of them attentively listening to his words. Those who knew only little about Agnar, and those who felt like their minds were filled with blank spaces, were getting a better understanding of what had occured.
"The war went on for years. The so-called peace, and bloodshed they wanted to end had to be stopped by chaos and the loss of more lives than Agnar, in his reign would have ever caused. Anyway, Vincent and Arik eventually won. But, not quite for Agnar didn't surrender, neither did he die."
"No matter how hard they tried to subdue him, took his powers, cursed him, captured and tried to kill him, Agnar survived it all. He and his comrades seemed to never die, no matter what was thrown at them. This was the manner of men they were and manner of power they had. They always came back more willing to destroy everything for they sought revenge."
"Five years, or was it ten? Perhaps, fifteen years, even the books didn't record how long it took for Agnar and those who followed him to finally be defeated. Raymond was captured, Harris was thought to have died and Agnar who refused death was turned to stone instead."
"This is one heck of a story," a student said.
"It sounds like Teacher Chadwick is a fan of Agnar, this is supposed to be the history of magic and the academy, not about Agnar's deeds," a student whispered over to her friend. Chadwick shot them a hard glare and carried on talking.
"Did he hear what I said?" the little girl wondered.
"You should understand that magic and this academy is all linked to Agnar. This story is just to clarify that what we've been hearing is not a myth, but the truth. Besides, he is still talking about magic, is he not?" Her friend whispered back. She saw some reason in her friend's words and paid attention to the rest of the story.
"Once the war ended, kingdoms began to rebuild, the injured, those turned homeless, children made orphans, every casualty that occured were immediately tended to. The wizards did their best to restore peace and goodness to the world with Arik becoming emperor of this part of the world which was the most affected, and though no one ever says it, and only few know of this, this empire still has its name as the Teferi Empire."
"When all had become calm, Vincent along with the emperor Arik, built the academies - Darkmoon Academy, for Agnar Teferi was defeated on a night darker than usual, when even the moon glowed black and, Newmoon Academy, for the next night, the most beautiful array of stars and brightest glow of the moon blessed the earthen sky."
Chadwick paused for a while, waiting to answer whatever questions they had.
"Is this the end? If so, it isn't even in the slightest complicated." A student said with a raised hand. He didn't even wait for Chadwick to give him permission before he started talking.
"What about his brother? Agnar had a brother who was in cohorts with him, did he not? You didn't say anything about him." Another student said.
"Yes, and what about the talk of the brothers making a deal with demons or whatever, you didn't talk about it."
"Also, Agnar returned. The battle continued, thirteen years ago. Unless, our parents were not being truthful."
Chadwick took in a deep breath before answering. "About his brother, everyone talks about him. Some believe Harris was his brother, some people say it was Vincent and others even say it is the Emperor. Although, there are rumours of his brother, every book written about Agnar has no record of Agnar ever having a brother."
"About the deal with the demons, well that will be nothing more than the wild imaginations of man, because nothing of the sort happened. If it did, it would only mean that all six of them had to be part of that deal. Vincent Cohen and The Emperor Arik, would have been part of it. That is what that thought implied. But, it isn't so."
"And yes, Agnar Teferi did return. But, that is not part of today's lesson. I meant to talk about the stat of magic up till the building of the school, not about Agnar's life."
"Again, as I said, this is what the books say, and I am sure everyone of you have your own stories in your head. What I shouldn't be saying, but I'll say anyway is, do not completely trust the words of this book. Listen and choose what to believe." After these words, more hands rose again by students with questions on their minds that needed answering, with opinions they thought to air out.
Chadwick out of interest picked the white haired green eyed boy who had his hand up. "Yes, young one?"
"So you say we can go ahead and believe what we want to. I believe that every word written in that book is a lie," said Kiyan. Everyone turned to the one who dared to utter such words. It was a foolish, yet bold thing to say. Chadwick was shocked to say the least, he didn't expect such a comment.
"A lie? You call it a lie?"
"Perhaps, not all of it is lie. To me, it seems there is a lot missing from that book. Did the world just forget that the acclaimed stream of magic is still being hidden from them by Vincent and the Emperor? No explanation was given for the existence of power. What about those that wanted to get rid of magic, did it just finish."
"If I may ask something," Raten raised his hand this time, to which Chadwick nodded, giving him permission to speak "If truly they saw Agnar Teferi to be a vile man, why leave the empire under his name, with Arik Lennon in power? Everyone talks about, Agnar having had a brother who was his partner and since I don't believe you would want to fly the flag of your enemy, isn't it more credible to believe Arik Lennon is in fact, Arik Teferi, and he kept the name because it reflects the mightiness of his family?"
Raten's question made not just Chadwick but the entire class to go silent as well. Kiyan turned to his brother and asked him if what he said is truly a question on his mind, if he did believe their father had a brother, and Raten nodded in response.
"Also...," the golden haired kid said out loud. "If Agnar was a madman thirsty for power by turning wizards into warriors, into savages, and that was to be stopped, why now are we being told to dabble in the arts of fighting again? Why is there a base in the emperor's land filled with wizards of unheard strength? Does this mean, the power has gotten to their heads as well? It doesn't make sense, what are we training to fight for?"
"I just had to babble about Agnar too much." Chadwick nearly gave himself a face palm. He was in total dismay as to what response he would give the students. What would he say? "Time should move faster so this class ends and I prepare better for their questions." He said inwardly. He truly didn't plan for these sort of questions.
