Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Abnormality

"Yani!"

Approaching her was a girl radiating an aura of youthfulness, the plain white dress she was wearing swayed with her movements. Her exquisite features practically glowing in the sun.

A huge contrast to Yani's unsmiling face.

However, different from her bright smile when greeting Yani, her taut and supple skin was looking pale like someone who hasn't gone out in ages.

A little frown was etched on her forehead, showing how uncomfortable she was standing directly in the sun.

"Anne! you're here.", Seeing the girl approaching, her lips curled up.

Her pitch-black eyes when looking at someone was no longer so unfeeling, a gentle glow gradually lit up in her blank eyes.

Before Yani could finished her words, Anne gripped her hand tightly. On reflex she asked, "What?"

"Where have you been,Yani?! Why didn't I see you in school? I've been looking for you these few weeks!", Anne exclaimed worriedly.

"The school had been pushing for the transfer procedures for awhile now."

"Don't worry about it, Anne. Its alright.", she assured.

"No, if you agree, I'll just go with you!"

"Anne!, what do you mean?!"

"I will follow your decision.", Anne added with firm determination, clenching her fist.

Yani was frowning as she listened to her friend's words, her eyebrows knotted together in a crease trying to reason with her friend's sense of logic.

While the two of them were conversing, walking towards the classroom at the same time, hostile and strange gazes were directed at Yani. The people that they met along the way altogether gave her an air of hostility like she did something bad to them.

However, when she looked at them in the eyes, those students and staffs who met her gaze immediately lowered their heads.

Somehow, they were afraid of her yet, they were acting like they didn't care and ignoring her.

Everyone had a tacit understanding to not come closer even 2 meters to Yani, going as far as walking a long distance just so they would not walk side by side.

As strange as those people were acting, Yani was already used to it. A daily occurrence in her life.

She noticed it in the past but she didn't really care. It eventually lead to the current situation her friend Anne was talking about where she needed to transfer out of school. The reason being her schoolmates becoming so scared of her.

In which, she didn't know why.

Yani, holding her backpack, shook her head despondently when she saw this.

"Yani!"

A clear female voice full of anger in her tone erupted from behind her, Yani turned around and saw her friend Anne immediately taking her attention away from these people.

"What's wrong, Anne?"

"These people are too much!",the girl hissed through gritted teeth, her fist gripped tight. Hearing that, Yani's face softened as she helplessly grasped her hand.

"Anne, it's okay. I'm used to it."

"They're being too obvious, aren't they?!",saying that, Anne glared at those people, looking like she was about to rushed out and fight with them.

The students and staff suddenly felt a chill on their backs like a beast preying on it's preys.

Yani took a glance at these people and carelessly ignored them, holding Anne's hands as they continued walking down the corridors towards the classroom.

When they arrived at the classroom, the two of them tacitly stopped talking.

Not long after they arrived, the teacher responsible for the class arrived, holding her lesson plan.

Yani sat at the front row of the class and the whole classroom of students who were still in the midst of discussion immediately became silent like a mouse seeing a cat when they saw her.

When they saw the strict-looking female teacher with glasses on, they instantly went back to their own seats as quietly as possible, emptying the front row where Yani sat as no one wanted to get unlucky and accidentally offend the devil.

"Class, pay attention! Your results in the recent exam was average. I'm very much disappointed."

"Fortunately, one of you is an exception."

The teacher admonished strictly, ignoring the huge vacant front row seats. The teacher couldn't care less. She would've strictly told them off if it was useful but clearly it wasn't. These students would listen to her to almost everything, but when it's about Yani, it's a completely different matter.

The students and even her would try their best to not cross paths with Yani literally.

She continued admonishing her students, teaching them their mistakes in the recent exam while thinking.

Meanwhile, when the teacher mentioned the only exception, their heads involuntarily turned to the front row of the class.

The teacher didn't say a name but the students knew already, proof that it probably happens a lot of the time.

Obviously, they were looking at Yani's.

Well, the reason being that Yani's always been first in the grade. No one ever did managed to surpass her in terms of academic grades. Even the seniors in their school dare not cross paths with her, deeply afraid of antagonizing her and falling on her bad books.

They admired her such that a lot of them, specially the extreme ones of the bunch were pretty much envious and jealous.

However, even if there was some jealousy and envy in their hearts, they would never ever dare show openly and let the devil see; much less provoke her.
