Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Nightmare City

He was wearing a pair of sliver-framed glasses, looking very gentle and handsome.

When the bus stopped in front of him, he didn't hesitate and stepped onto the bus with his long legs.

The young man looked about in his early 20's and by far the one who looked much more mature and calm compared to the others on the bus.

He walked straight to the back seat of the bus after scanning a circle and sat down behind Yani and the other passengers.

After sitting down, he did not speak, and acted like the others.

Yani only glance at him before she went back to conversing with Anne, not paying anymore attention.

After the young man in silver-framed glasses entered, the red school bus driver didn't seem to have an intention of stopping anymore.

The bus continued driving for another hour and so before it arrived at a deserted and completely barren land.

There were no buildings and lights on sight. Outside was a suffocating silence.

A heavy feeling of unease and negativity that suddenly appeared blew their mind off as the bus passed threw the barren land.

Their expression was ugly as they held on and endured the strange chaos that attacked their mind.

Their heads hurt like hell. It felt like someone hammering their heads out of their body as they struggled suffocatingly.

The student passenger's state was mesirable, including Yani. They were either lying on the ground fainted or in their seats holding on to their aching head. Anne though, was not affected.

On the contrary, it seemed to benefit her a lot. Her supposed to be brown eyes became blood red and gloomy.

On the other hand, the driver of the bus was unaffected, his eyes didn't even shift for once the whole time the invisible unstable energy attacked their mind, like he was expecting it.

He instead looked very annoyed and impatient because of the effect it caused inside the bus.

Yani held her head that had just healed from the car incident in pain, recovering only a minute later after being used to experiencing it for awhile.

However, as the pain became lesser, Yani noticed something abnormal about her body, her heart and eyes specifically.

She could feel her heartbeat suddenly slow down and pounding on her chest strongly like it was eager to come out.

Meanwhile, her vision were enveloped by swirling darkness. Yani found herself, and the others on the bus surrounded by this darkness that seemingly wanted to consume everyone.

Through her eyes that somehow became darker and darker once again, Yani could saw her heart, which was pounding violently on her chest.

It was absorbing the unknown dark swirling energy that was attacking their consciousness little by little, causing her heart beat to slow down.

At the same time, Yani could feel the unknown energy amplifying the dark emotions that she's been trying to suppress, adding fuel to the fire.

Frowning, she looked at where her heart was and saw black threads being absorbed crazily from the surroundings into her heart.

When Yani turned around, she saw the others visibly disturbed, struggling away from the unknown dark energy swirling around them while Anne looked like she was enjoying herself.

The driver couldn't care less as he continued to drive the bus deeper into the barren land.

Apparently, she was the only one who could see the swirling darkness around them, except the driver obviously.

Controlling herself, Yani groaned uncontrollably in madness as her emotions were stirred up.

Anne heard Yani's groan and just thought that Yani was also affected by the chaos and paid her no mind as in her opinion, even though it might be painful, it will benefit her nonetheless; not noticing the undercurrent hidden beneath.

A few minutes later, the suffocating pressure that was pressing on them disappeared with only the lingering negativity in the surroundings left.

After a full 23 minutes, the others started gaining consciousness from their unstable state, looking apprehensively and confused as to what have happened to them.

Not surprisingly, the first to gain consciousness was the boy at the back who gave Yani a sense of alertness.

Second was the the young man in silver-framed glasses, followed by the others on the bus.

When they came back to their senses, the scene in front of them had become a jungle. Inside was dark and light could not penetrate through the thick canopies of tree's.

After awhile of finally getting used to their current state, they managed to control themselves. The constant negative emotions randomly popping up inside them were amplified many times, becoming heavy and hard to bear, overwhelming their senses.

Looking outside again almost one hour later, the bus had finally passed the thick jungle and the scene began to change.

A very lively city in the dark night could be seen in the horizon. Colorful bright lights were everywhere.

Anywhere on the sides of the treet, there were many merchants selling and bartering things to people. Although the scene looked peaceful on the surface however, it wasn't the case for the people involved.

When they passed by the road where many people was and drove somewhere deserted, the peacefulness of the place disappeared.

Cults and many other groups of people wearing strange clothes were gathering.

They were in a frenzy as they kneeled and prayed, chaos was everywhere as many people, old and young, were sacrificed to altars.
