"Another thing, Yani you wait for me in the office after class."
Hearing the teacher mention the name Yani, the whole class of students flinched instinctively.
The students collectively glanced at the front row where nobody sat except Yani, watching her every move.
They were really afraid thinking she might go berserk hearing someone speak of her name in such a commanding tone.
'Yani' was a taboo for them, they were deathly afraid that they would be targeted next if they just so mentioned 'the devil's' name.
After all, those who ever discussed about 'the devil' with even just a slight malice and insult had something weird happening to them, they apparently become unlucky and 'haunted' literally.
If it was just that, they wouldn't have been so scared, thinking it was just superstition. But, there was another reason, the girl was a problem herself.
So, over time, the name Yani became a taboo on the school. Rarely do anyone mentions her name except for a few. And this teacher was certainly one of the few people who were not afraid.
Yani, the center of their attention, only nodded lightly to the teacher, not saying anything more.
Seeing that she didn't react, the students instantly sighed in relief while looking at teacher Gwen on the podium with blame on their eyes.
"What are you looking at?!
Teacher Gwen glared at her students, once again lecturing them on their exam mistakes. The students could only resign themselves to their fate as they suffered silently.
Except for the turning of pages, only the female teacher's powerful voice on the podium could be heard in the quiet classroom.
After a few hours of studying and listening to the class lesson, the bell rang.
All students hurriedly packed their things from the desk into their bags, practically running out of the door of the classroom like they couldn't wait to go out while the teacher followed behind.
Soon, only Yani was left. She glanced at her side where her friend Anne sat and found... no one.
'She's gone again'
Yani pursed her lips. She stood up from her seat and packed up her learning materials, leaving the classroom and going directly to the teachers office.
Anne, her best friend was a strange one, often disappearing on many occasions.
Ever since that one time they went out together in a grand mall, many unexplainable things have happened.
Somehow, Yani couldn't remember anything. But there was a blurry image in her mind of her fainting inside a dark space.
Yani assumed it was a basement underground as it was pretty cold and she could even feel dampness in the surrounding. Anne changing her personality overnight must've been related to that mall somehow.
However, even though she wanted to know, Anne wouldn't tell her, feeling uneasy and afraid if she did ask.
As an individual, she could only guess as much.
Though, one thing was certain and it was that something very significant happened in that very mall, prompting her to go back and investigate it herself.
Even if it wasn't the case, Anne's change of behavior after they went out of the mall was just strange.Anyhow, no matter what, she needed to find out and not just wait.
Her head was lowered as she walked forward while holding her things in her arms, her short hair covering her expressionless face.
Yani's mind was chaotic with many unanswered questions left that needed to be solved.
It seems that she really needed to rest for some time. All this spectacle that she experienced needs time, time to sort out her messy thoughts.
Yani took a deep breath, stopping at the door of the teachers office building.
Knock... knock.. knock..
"Come in!"
"You're here at last. You must've already know about the transfer, right? I would assume."
"Yes.", Yani replied.
"The school planned to transfer you to a different school. And I might not know anything about the assigned school but.."
"As the teacher responsible for you, I will be honest with you."
"Yani, let's face reality.", Teacher Gwen's face became serious as she looked at her student in the eyes, her back filled with sweat because of nervousness.
"You know more about your condition than myself. I don't want to say this but it is affecting the students of the school.", the teacher said with a hint of cautiousness on her voice.
Yani pitch-black pupils looked straight into the teacher Gwen's eyes, causing the female teacher to shudder slightly.
Her eyes were filled with unknown complicated emotions that she just couldn't seem to express well.
As teacher Gwen said, Yani knew her situation best. But, she didn't want to acknowledge it, she was not willing at all!
'Why!'
The overwhelming emotions bottled up inside her almost overflowed, her deep dark- abbys like eyes looking straight at the female teacher was full of rage and unwillingness to admit.
At the moment, the teacher felt like fainting.Yani's eyes looking at her turned darker and darker almost enveloping her arises like darkness blanketing the blue skies.
The bloodlust in the air kept materializing and faint red mist was leaking out of Yani. Right now, the term 'devil' was really too accurate describing her current appearance.
It was so overwhelming that the teacher had trouble breathing, her face red from asphyxiation.
Teacher Gwen swore to herself that if ever she survived this ordeal she would definitely not believe anyone again or she might as well lose her life.
