Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Working

As I continued strolling through the streets, I came across a small stall and stopped in front of it.

"Good morning, Gilda" I greeted casually. "You're looking exceptionally beautiful today" I added.

The middle aged woman giggled in response, "Why thank you Rael, how are you this fine morning?" She smiled at me.

"I was actually having a bad mood but after seeing your bright smile, they just disappear" I grinned cheekily, making her giggle again.

"Now now darling, don't be silly and let's do the business" Gilda chuckled, hiding her little blush.

"Well then, I will take as usual" I smiled sweetly at her.

She quickly handed me my usual daily breakfast which consisted of three pieces of chicken wings and a cold bottle of orange juice.

"Here some free candies for making me happy" Gilda winked at me playfully.

"Ohh come on, I'm not a kid anymore I'm a man now" I complained.

"Ohh are you~?" She smirked mischievously, playfully stuck her tongue out at me.

"Ahhh fine" I groaned in defeat.

Gilda giggled again at my response. "Enjoy yourself my dear~" She said cheerfully.

Gilda was like an older sister to me since I was still in highschool. We've known each other long enough to talk like this. I waved at her goodbye and continue walking down the street.

I quickened my pace as I walked through the crowded street. A couple of minutes later I arrived at the shop. It's just your normal grocery store in which I'm currently working at. I entered and looked around to see my friend was already here.

He was moving several boxes around while humming a song to himself. I approached him slowly, watching as he moved the heavy boxes around. He then noticed me approaching him and immediately stopped what he was doing.

"Yo, good morning Nate" I greeted him as I approached him.

"Welcome to our humble store my lovely customer" He teased me while raising his eyebrow.

"Shut up, I'm not your customer" I chuckled, punching his shoulder lightly.

"Haha if that's the case then hurry up and help me move all this stuff" He laughed, pointing towards the boxes.

We both worked together carrying the boxes and putting them inside the storage room of the store. After we finished moving all the stuff in and arranged the storage room neatly, we sat down together and enjoyed eating our breakfast.

"Hey man, do you know those rumors about demons or some shit?" Nate asked randomly.

"What rumours?" I inquired curiously.

"Well, they are quite popular these days you know? People keep saying that they saw demons roaming around, the gate to the underworld was opened or something along those lines" He laughed.

I just stared at Nate blankly. I couldn't believe what he had just mentioned. The fact that I actually encountered a demon last night ... It still has yet to sink in.

"Hey, actually yesterday-" I started talking but was cut off by Nate.

"Ohh right! I forgot to tell you that today is my last day here" He announced.

"Wait what? Seriously?" I exclaimed.

Nate nodded. "Yup, I found a better job" Nate replied.

"Ohh I see. You got a degree after all" I commented "That's great mate" I congratulated him.

"Thanks dude" Nate thanked me gratefully.

"Hmm?" I glanced to my side, noticing a girl walking through the entrance of the store.

It was none other than Roxy, another worker of ours. She was a tall lanky girl with short purple-ish hair. She wore a short oversized black t-shirt that seemed to hung on her breasts, exposing her stomach and paired with it a pair of black leggings.

She was giving off "don't mess with me" vibes from the moment I laid my eyes on her. She glared at me as she noticed my gaze on her.

"What are you looking at, hm?" She sneered.

"Ohh? What am I looking at?" I smirked, pretending to be oblivious.

She rolled her eyes at my response. "Fucking pervert" She scoffed and walked towards the counter to do her job as the cashier.

She sat behind the counter, working on something while occasionally throwing a few glances at Rael. Every once and awhile, her glance would linger longer than necessary on him.

"Seriously, why do he keep staring at me like that?! That fucking idiot..." She blushed lightly, trying her best to look busy and focused on her task at hand. But it wasn't helping. As soon as he turned his back to her, she would steal a glimpse at him again, blushing shyly.
