Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Summoning Undead Again

Customers started trickling in, one by one as hours passed by and finally my shift was over. I stood up and stretched my arms, popping my back slightly. "Bye guys" I called out to my co workers. They responded in kind while waving and smiling at me.

"Have a nice day" I smiled and gave them all a wave. Then I walked towards the entrance and exited the store. After leaving the grocery store I decided to go straight home.

As I arrived at the cabin, I felt like I forgot something important but I can't remember what exactly. I thought hard for awhile, trying to recall what I was supposed to do but nothing seemed to come to mind. Eventually, I gave up and went inside the cabin, closing the door behind me gently.

"Welcome home, master" The raven haired beauty greeted me excitedly.

This is nice... my grandma also used to greet me like this when I returned home from school. This made me think of her.

"I'm home" I whispered softly under my breath.

Rhea started staring at me as if she was expecting something from me. Ohh right! I promised her I would give her a reward. I remembered what it was and instantly felt guilty. I originally thought of getting her new clothes since her robe was damaged from the fight yesterday.

"Rhea, I'm sorry" I apologized to her. "I forgot your reward" I continued apologetically.

She clearly seemed disappointed at first but quickly recovered her smile.

"Don't worry, master" She assured me reassuringly with a gentle tone.

"Thank you" I sighed in relief .

Well, I guess I can just take her out later and she can pick out the clothes she wants herself. I walked pass her and went inside my room to change my clothes. After changing into some casual attire, I went ahead and prepare for dinner.

Apparently, Rhea doesn't need to eat because she's an undead, so I ate the dinner all by myself like I used to. Then, it's time to have some fun.

"What spell should I try tonight?" I mumbled to myself as I started thinking.

Then suddenly, an idea popped up in my head. "I want to try summoning undead again" I thought to myself.

I opened the grimoire and flipped through the page carefully, searching for the exact same spell. After several more minutes, I finally found the page I was looking for. With a quick scan of the page I knew exactly what I was going to do.

I already did the magic circle for the summoning, so I just need to concentrate and chant the incantation for it to work. I started chanting the incantation, concentrating on the word as if it was my own life and soul itself.

"Rayth!" I shouted the spell.

My voice echoed throughout the entire room and I closed my eyes as my focus is now on the summoned creature that shall appear.

The room became darker and darker until I could barely see anything. There was no sound except the slight wind howling outside, making the walls shake a bit.

"Ahhh..." I groaned, feeling exhausted and tired. Rhea immediately noticed my discomfort as she rushed to my side concerned.

"Master?" She whispered worriedly.

"I'm alright..." I reassured her but she remained skeptical.

I wait patiently as the room getting clearer and clearer and the darkness gradually disappearing, revealing a figure standing in front of me.

It's a skeleton with sharp bone structure and glowing red eyes. In it's right hand, it was holding a sword and in it's left hand hold a shield. It's posture was strong and imposing as if its very being radiates evil. The skeletal figure began to walk forward slowly, it's bones clicking and clacking with each step.

I remained calm and didn't say a word. The skeleton eventually knelt before me and placed the shield and sword onto the ground. It bowed politely, showing me respect.

"So cool... " I muttered under my breath.

I mean look at this, a freaking skeleton! A real live one that can move on it's own! It's just too unbelievable!

"Wow" I said again as I took a closer look at the skeleton.

It's appearance definitely shocked me. I mean what the fuck! How can a skeleton move on it's own? And it even has a sword and a shield! Just awesome! So damn awesome!

"Hmm..." I paused in thought.

My flesh didn't rot like the first time I used the summoning spell, why? I thought the spell requires my life force to work? No wait, I did felt a little drained after I casted the spell, so it did used my life force but not as much as when I summoned Rhea.

So, was Rhea a special case? Or maybe the stronger the undead summoned, the more life force will be used? That's assuming Rhea is stronger than this skeleton... warrior. Should I test it out by making them fight each other? It will be a useful information for me.
