[Seventy fifth day]
In the commander's camp of the merfolks and the unamed castle alliance,
"Speaking of priests, are they really that rare?"
"Of course they are! They are individuals who are capable of borrowing a God's power and foresee the future with divination! It is for this reason why I find it hard to believe that the Blue coral tribe was defeated"
Lerellya said, annoyed that they do not know something that is treated as common sense in the world.
Charlie then looked at the map, as he formulate some kind of plan.
"Seeing you smile like that, are you confident that your comrades will be able to garner the majority of their attention?"
"Yes. If anything, those guys are good at destroying things and pissing off others"
Hearing his words made the matriarch worried if it was worth it allying themselves with the humans.
"Matriarch!"
A merfolk entered the tent.
"It is about time for us to move!"
"Alright. See to it that everyone is ready, we will move after two minutes"
"Understood!"
Charlie took his bag along with a copy of the map.
"We will be setting off then. Best of luck to you, lady Lerellya"
"To you as well, Sir Charlie"
During their time of planning against the kingdom of Ghalvhir, Charlie's words and plans moved the heart of the matriarch and made her respect Charlie more.
It was to the point that she respected and acknowledge his capabilities than Leon who could become on friendly terms with them just by coming closer.
"Let's get going"
Charlie rode the carriage as the coachman and set off to their location.
...
About a thousand and five meters away from the city, guards spotted a carriage coming from the direction of the shores where the merfolks will be coming from.
After the carriage stopped, the general arrived after the soldier reported a suspicious carriage.
"Shoot it down"
"Sir?"
"Shoot. It .Down!"
"Yes, Sir!"
Using a cannon, fueled with mana, the mages who operated the cannons fired towards the carriage.
Boom!
"Once we get inside, make sure to prioritize getting those cannons!"
"Understood, Sir Leon!"
Right before it hit the carriage, Leon and Veronica jumped out and split to the sides.
"A human and a beast kin? Madam Laura, do they have anything noteworthy?"
The magician with a veil, covering her mouth, answered.
"None at all. However, I do find that man to be... an existence that irritates me"
Hearing the words of the captain of the magic squad, his worries became unnecessary.
"These lot must be cannon fodders with the objective of grabbing our attention"
"Wait. Wasn't there a coachman who was-"
Boom!
A part of the city's wall and some nearby buildings was blasted away. A huge hole appeared that baffled everyone.
"Madam Laura! What was that?"
"I don't know! Whatever that was, it was not made of mana at all!"
Their attention shifted to the source of the blast, that was several times stronger than the cannon, which came from the forest with an aproximately less than two kilometer distance.
"I will be relying on you, Persephone"
"Rest assured for I will do my task flawlessly, Sir Tony"
Tony who used up all of his stamina to use his rifle was being treated by Persephone.
After eating so much merfolk corpses back when the Blue Coral tribe attacked, she gained the ability to transfer her own stamina to others that she gets from eating corpses.
As a result, the two was paired for this operation.
"How long do you think will it take for you to restore my energy?"
"About five minutes, Sir. However, while I can restore your stamina by giving you mine, it will not change that you will continue to accumulate mental fatigue"
"That is fine. Something of this level is not enough to bring me down"
Seeing the threat that these 'Cannon fodders' possess, the general and the magic squad captain had to give their all in order to defeat the unknown threat that was right in front of the city.
"Mages! Ready the cannons and fire it towards the forest! I will make sure that the city walls or any of you will be blasted away"
Madam Laura commanded the magicians as she used a spell to conjure a barrier, covering the entire front.
"We are ready to fire, Captain!"
"Go for it!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The magicians fired towards the forest causing a series of explosions.
"Open the gates! Black tiger knights, check if their artillery has been destroyed after killing those two nuisances!"
The gates were opened as ordered and the elite knights under the general's command were sent out.
"Kill the traitorous man and the lowly beastkin!"
The one leading the elite knight squad charged for the beast kin while the vice captain charged for the man.
"How idiotic"
Veronica pulled out her gun and fired.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
"What...? How could... such a... thing... be..."
The mana bullet pierced through their armors and gave them lethal injuries.
The knights fell down to the ground as their horses run away after sensing Veronica's animalistic killing intent.
"To be called 'elite' and this is all you amount to... Pathetic!"
Veronica finished them with her claws.
"Come out, your traitorous son of a bitch!"
"You think you would be safe after siding with monsters that lives in the sea?!"
Leon created a poisoned smokescreen with a handmade device and took out the knights one by one either with his dagger on the left hand or with his whip on the other.
Though they have heard the gunshots, they trusted their own comrades that such a thing will not be enough to take them down and contiued to follow orders to kill the man.
"You- aaah!"
With all the sound coming from all direction, those who were within the smokescreen could not tell that their fellow knights were taken out.
"Please tell me this is not what they call strong. Otherwise, I would regret not choosing a class that specialize with magic"
As someone who specialize in close combat, Leon was disappointed that these knights that were regarded as 'elite' did not managed to reach his expectations.
"Can they not use mana as well? Martial arts? Sword arts?No nothing?!"
Leon continued to do his role with pure fury.
"HOW CAN THIS BE A FANTASY WORLD WITHOUT ANYTHING LIKE THAT!?!?!?
HOW COME THERE IS NO BALANCE IN THE POWER SYSTEM?!?!?!"
Shocked to see his elite squad of knights, the Black tigers, the general became unsure of the enemies' capabilities.
"What a shitshow! Your knights are useless, general!"
"Madam Laura! How dare you slander our-"
Shing!
One on the neck. One on the left chest. And one on the liver.
Three arrows were fired and shot the most problematic one among them, the magician.
