Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: War (5)

After taking resources enough for them to last until they reach the next city, Charlie and his party, plus the magicians, went for their next target.

As they destroyed more cities on their path towards the capital of the kingdom of Ghalvhir, they took in people they acknowledge with potential and other valuable items.

Such as magic books, history books for them to learn more about this world's origins, as well as second stage magic items.

And while their achievements spread throughout the neighboring nations, attention about the merfolks faded as they were not present whatsoever in the kingdom.

Instead, the few individuals leading what is known as the 'Rebellion army' by the public garnered the attention of nearby powerhouses.

Their unknown identities raised awareness that there are strong individuals capable of creating discord througout an entire nation.

In the capital of Pridirus, a meeting was held by the royal family and the aristocrats that serves as pillars for the nation.

"Should we inquire for help from neighboring countries?"

"Why should we when there is only a dozen or so of them anyway?"

"Besides, Ghalvhir is the weakest and smallest kingdom in the world!"

"That, however, does not change the fact that those people are capable of destroying that 'weak kingdom' by themselves!"

The word of the king made everyone looked down in silence as they thought of ways to avoid the possible crisis for their kingdom.

"Will they really attack us though?"

The prince stood up as he stated his claim.

"Why won't savages like them not attack our country, your highness?"

"From what we know, there is a beast kin among the 'Rebellion army' and although it is uncertain, there is also a ghoul. Ghalvhir on the other hand is known for their prejudice against other races.

I believe that they are only doing this for their own people. If not, then they really are colluding with the merfolks to achieve a common goal"

"But the merfolks were nowhere to be seen the past few weeks!"

The marchioness said.

"True. We can't 'see' them now. But what make you so sure that they are not present at all?"

"....."

The king pondered from the words of his vassals and his son and eventually came to an answer.

"Marchioness, I will leave the military prepartion in your hands in case those barbarians come to our lands"

"Understood, your highness!"

"And you, my kingdom's prince, you are to go to Ghalvhir as an envoy and seek the Rebellion army's leader's to find out their intent"

"Understood, your highness"

"There is a chance that you might die"

"Nevertheless, it is a risk I will have to take as the prince of the country"

...

[One hundreth and eleventh day]

"What do you mean by that?"

Leon asked with an unsatisfies expression.

"I am saying that you and Veronica are to go back along with the people we have recruited. The three of us are more than enough to take care of the things here"

"Right, right. Also, we are about to finish things here. Letting you go back now would be for the best. For you, and for them"

"....."

Leon crossed his arms as he weigh the pros and cons of having to go back earlier than he planned.

".... Fine! But, make sure to bring back the things we need, okay"

"Don't worry, I will make sure to do just that"

The next day after finishing their preparations Leon led those who sided with them, except for Luca, back to the castle to have them familiarize themselves before the city is finish.

"Do you think they will be safe with only Leon and Persephone being the ones who are capable of close combat?"

"Yes. After all, exxcluding Aldo, Persephone should be the one who is currently the strongest among us. Actually, if Aldo doesn't have any items with him, I doubt he even stand a chance against the current Persephone"

Persephone who ate tons of corpses along the way increased her physical traits bit by bit.

While the increase in physical trait is miniscule, with piles of corpses in front of her it allowed her to grow stronger by the day. And with constant battle, she became accustomed with the power she earn.

"Hey Tony"

"What is it?"

"You should really go and talk to him. How long do you plan on making the guy wait?"

Charlie and Tony were whispering to each other as Luca looked at Tony with doubtful eyes.

"I don't know what to do, okay!"

While he had promised to Luca that he would be taught by Aldo, who is technically a tower master, by making him stay here made Luca doubt of Tony's true purpose.

[ has sent a book that he has created. You will now receive ]

White light shoned on top of his head and a book came out.

"What is this?"

"TELEPORTATION MAGIC!?!?"

The two looked at Luca who had sparkling eyes.

"Just now... that was teleportation magic! An seventh stage magic! But with the distance, they must be at least a master who can cast eigth stage magci!

Perhaps... that book came from the tower master?"

He asked with expectant eyes.

"Well... yes, it did technically came from him. This book is for you to use while you are staying here"

Luca begun to cry tears of joy as Tony handed him the book.

"I... thank you very much, Sir- no, milord!"

"Ah, yeah. I am sure you are excited and all so why not go and immersed yourself with it"

"I will!"

Luca headed for his room with haste.

Before he could get out of room, he turned back and bowed once more with a bright and wide smile.

"What perfect timing. I should thank him when we get back"

"Why don't you invest one hundred points to his tower instead?"

"That's a good idea! AQA, send one hundred points of mine to upgrade Aldo's magic tower!"

[Request accepted. 100 points has been used to upgrade the magic tower]

In just a few hours of reading the book that Aldo created, Luca obtained enligthenment. His view for magic changed drastically as he understood one by one the roots and origin of the basic elements.

Boom!

"W... wow!"

After applying the principle of combustion and explosion to the first stage basic spell, fireball, the power itself was comparable to most second stage fire spells.

"Milord! This... this is..."

He could not believe that one book alone was able to brought him to new heigths.

Just the thought of meeting this tower master sent a chilling sensation to course through every bone in his body.

"Be careful with that book. Aldo wrote that himself"

"Tower master did?"

He asked with overwhelmed eyes in the brink of crying.

"I will be sure to keep this as my family heirloom from now on, milord!"

After bowing once, he went back to training and incorporating the knowldege he learned from the book.

"Veronica, base on what you've red the past few weeks, what do you think about his behavior?"

"Well, I believe that it is normal. After all, it is said that there are less than ten magic towers in the world, excluding Sir Aldo's tower, master"

"How come? Can't they just built some more?"

"Magic towers are made from extremely rare ores. The outside provides strong protection bu the inside is indestructible. Making it the best place for research and experimentations"

"Really?"

He asked in disbelief.

"Yes. I have red some books that stated that all magic towers possess the same traits"

"No wonder those magicians didn't hesitate to side with us"

Tony then spent the next few hours quietly watching the seed he is trying to grow.

"Master"

"What is it, Veronica?"

"It is time for us to depart"

"Okay. Let's go all out and spread our names far and wide"
