Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: War (4)

"How are you doing there?"

"I'm almost done. You?"

"I just finished mine"

Marco and Aldo who were working on the sewage, drainage, and canal system sat down and watched the foundation of the city being built.

Raw materials needed for the job were provided by the demi humans in exchange for the currency that Marco created.

And with the materials such as ores the small golems took the job of labor and construction as they do not get tired.

"It sure is a good thing that they have blacksmiths with them"

"Putting that aside, Marco, what design will the city be?"

Marco took piece of papers with a design structure of a city. The layout of everything below and above the surface of the land.

"Hmm~ Base on the design that they left, we should go with number twelve. This will allow us more freedom and a faster work flow while maximizing productivity"

"Then... we will have to make the castle as our meeting hall every once in a while"

"I will go build a round table then. While I'm at it, I will make it as grand as possible"

He said with a smug expression.

"By the way, how did you created that thing surrounding the castle, Aldo?"

Marco pointed at the barrier covering the castle.

"Well, I found an altar that was laying around somewhere so I used it. This way, it will have more protection without having to place guards there"

...

After finding out more information in the mayor's office, they found out more valuable and more accurate information regarding to the place they were in.

Seventeen countries in west.

Four countries in the south.

Thirthy seven countries in the east.

One country in the north.

The size and power of each country. Their fame and what they are known for.

They spent hours reading the information laid out for them to read and sent it back to the other two in the castle.

"Hoo~ It's worth it coming here"

Leon sighed in relief and satisfaction.

"Let's go finish this as soon as possible and have Aldo open up our bodies for cultivation!"

"Do you really have to word it that way?"

"I am a fan of martial arts and myths. What's wrong with that?"

"Aldo's control is shit. That is why he relies on his knowledge with programming to make his golems execute his commands. You think you will be safe when the procedure relies on a magician's precision and control?"

Thinking back about it, Leon realized that Aldo cannot use basic magic and only rely on making golems because of his poor sense of magic control.

"Then I will invest on Tony's new follower"

"He is not yet his follower though"

"I'm sure he has his own ways of winning someone over, Leader"

After some time, the magicians who were knocked out woke up one by one.

In order for them to be restricted, Charlie had their wrists cuffed tightly so that the magicians will not be able to cast any magic.

"Are you sure cuffing them alone will be enough to restrain them?"

"Aldo said that beginner magicians requires them to cast and wave their wands or staffs to perform magic"

"Okay"

"....."

The magicians stared at the ground as they felt like they were animals in captivity, being watched by curious watchers.

"We will not hurt you. Instead, do you want to come and ally yourselves with us?"

Tony asked with a warm and gentle smile.

His face's soft expression that showed the good things of the world made Leon and Charlie wonder if he was the same Tony they knew.

"Tsk!"

A magician glared at Tony with hateful eyes.

"You come here into our territory and kill people! And you have the audacity to tell us to come to your side?"

The magician spit on the floor.

"In your dreams!"

"Is that so? No matter, we still have time"

Tony stood up and went back to the others.

"I just received information from Aldo saying that magicians are obssess with learning magic"

"We don't have manuals or books to give them to. And we can't just use our points to buy something from the store for them!"

As the three talked, Veronica stopped eating the pastries she took from the kitchen and sat down in front of the magicians.

"What do you want, you filthy beast kin?!"

The magicians asked in disgust.

"My master's sworn brother, Sir Aldo is a magician"

"So? You think we would bow down to someone who-"

"He is a magic tower master capable of easily casting sixth stage magic spell, golem"

"....."

Seeing their expression after what Veronica just said, the three somehow understood how magicians think.

"Base on the information we got from this place, only powerful nations even have something like a magic tower"

Leon whispered.

"But it is no lie to say that Aldo does have a magic tower"

Charlie whispered.

"And since he is the ruler of that tower, it won't be wrong to say that he is the tower master, right?"

Tony whispered.

The three looked at the magicians with expectant faces as they saw the magicians' eyes were filled with greed and desire.

"You expect me to believe you know a tower master?"

"If you do not believe me, then let us form a contract. Fortunately, we have one of those paper where one can swear an oath to uphold whatever is written there"

"....."

After some time, the magicians agreed to and one of them was released.

Luca, who is the one who Tony is eyeing on, was the one who was chosen for the job as he is the weakest among them all so that if danger were to befall on the writer, it would be the weakest of the bunch.

"Here, read it well"

Tony handed the contract over to Luca after signing it.

Luca then showed the contract to the others before signing it.

"The condition written in the contract states that you will not harm us as long as we do not try to escape or harm any of you. In exchange, you will not lie to us"

"Yes. I don't have any intention on lying to you anyway"

Tony replied in a gentle and reassuring tone.

"Okay... Are you really aqcuianted with a tower master who is capable of easily casting sixth stage magic spell?"

The magicians looked at Tony with tension.

"Yes. In addition to that, he created his own magical language that aids him in controlling golems. Quick and simultaneous casting. Complex magic circles. He can do it"

"....."

Seeing that nothing happened to Tony, the magicians were forced to believe his words as the truth.

Their faces filled with disgust as they stared at the people responsible for destroying their nation's city was changed in an instant.

Their faces were filled with the desire to learn more from this tower master that Tony speaks of.

"Though he is cold and prefers to be alone in his research, if you swear to be loyal to me, I promise to you that you will learn directly from him"

"....?!"

The sudden proposal caugth Luca and the other magicians off guard.

The existence of a magic tower alone was something they all dreamt of entering. And yet, the chance to learn from a tower master was presented before him.

"Is... is that true?"

The other magicians looked at Luca with envy.

"Yes. As you know, I can't lie to you. I don't even have the thought of doing it even without signing a magical contract like this"

Luca, who always wanted to learn more about the path of magic, clenched his hands into a fist as he looked towards the man in front of him with a genuine expression of wanting to help him and words filled with sincerity.

"Though I do not know what use my life is for you..."

He knelt down on one knee and bowed his head.

"... If you are truly capable of letting me learn more about the things I want and know the things I do not of, then I promise you my being and life. I hope that you would be able to make use of me for the grace you have bestower upon me"

[The individual has sworn his loyalty to you]

[As long as you keep your promise or make him do things he does not like, such as killing, he will obey eveything you say]

"I'm glad to hear that. From now on, all of you are one of us"
