Rex stood on the corridor of his cabin, his eyes fixed on the blue grandala bird on the tree. He didn't know how long it'd been there but it had been perching the tree for as long as he could remember.
The tree view before him was one of the things he could never get used to. The way the sound of the river faraway fanned his ears and the way the birds chirped, was one of his favourite things to hear in the morning since he was a child.
He could vivdly remember when his wolf injured while running away from a rouge. As a kid who had snuck out in the middle of the night, he could not go back home because of his leg injury so he slept in the woods. When his father found him, he had let him recover before he gave him the worse punishment of his life. Nobody begged on his behalf. He ate and slept in the pack cell for a week.
Two weeks later, he snuck out again.
"What are you doing there? You're gonna scare the poor bird away with those eyes".
"What eyes?"
"Your tender eyes".
Rex sighed out when he felt her hands sliding up his back to his shoulders slowly. He shrugged them off before they could get to his chest. "I told you to stop coming here at night".
"But you keep letting me in". She chuckled.
"I won't anymore". He turned around to find her wrapped in his bedsheet, her hair tousled a little bit. "So don't come unless I order".
"Why?" She asked softly, bringing her hand up to graze his shirtless chest. "I love it".
Ignoring her, he brushed past her. Raven was a girl he met two years ago but they only got close some months ago. She was always ready to throw herself at him. She claimed she loved him but to Rex, she was nothing but a tool for his sexual satisfaction.
"I heard your mate woke up yesterday". She giggled. "I can't believe she tried to drown herself because of us. Wish she had just died. That'd have made things easier for us". She swept her head back to look at him. "Right?"
Rex heard. He also heard she made a scene in the pack house about wolves. He wondered if the attention she had was not enough. "You should have killed her when you had the chance. Pack your things and leave. I want to be alone". He entered and slammed the door shut
Knowing he had switched to his cold-blooded mood, she sighed. Raven looked up at the bird that was surprisingly still there and a feeling of envy rested comfortably in her stomach, twisting it a bit as she stared at the bird. "Will he ever look at me the same way he did to you?"

"When is your birthday?" The doctor asked her fourth question as she stared down at Avice who laid like a corpse on the bed.
She was dumbfolded. A little bit out of the world. Only if smoke could come out of her head like a cartoon character, they'd know how tough her brain was fighting her block head. She bit her lip, not even sure the brain in her head was hers.
Adeline, her false sister had spewed all the shit she needed to know. All the shits she could hardly comprehend. Adeline's face was still wet from realising her sister could not remember anything. It was funny how she still couldn't believe the person lying on the bed wasn't her sister. Even the doctor thought Avice was crazy as well.
"Am i really a werewolf?" Avice asked out of the blue, her eyes lost in the ceiling.
"Eliana? Do you know when you were born?" The doctor asked again.
"I want to die again". The words fell out of her mouth.
Adeline shifted closer in tears and grabbed the doctor's hand. "Is there anything i can do? Anything, I swear I'll do it. How can we bring her memory back? It's really dangerous for her to stay around here without her memory. You know what I'm talking about, Simaya". Adeline pleaded.
The doctor sighed and rubbed her forehead. "I can't find anything serious going on with her. But i believe her memory loss is temporary. She didn't hit her head and her report didn't mention anything about an internal injury. She's probably still in shock".
"For how long is the 'temporary' going to last?" Adeline asked.
"I don't reall–"
Tired of their never ending speculations, she rose from the bed and cursed. "I told you I'm not who you think I am. I am not Eliana. And I can't remember anything because I'm not her. Isn't that clearer than your guesses?" She asked the doctor.
The both of them fixed their eyes on her, staring like she was an ugly nerd trying to woo a girl. She knew what they thinking and she'd have thought thesame if she wasn't the unfortunate one in the situation.
"We need to find a solution asap". Adeline told the doctor and she nodded.
The doctor packed her things and in a blink, she was out of the room.
Avice sighed and fell back on the bed, wondering how long she could last in someone else's body. Not even an ordinary body. It was a body where a wolf resided.
"Of all bodies on earth, the lightning had decided to send me into this one. Who cursed me? She must be a really good witch". She murmured to herself. Her early life had never been smooth and when she thought life had started favouring her with money, an asshole came by and snatched it all from her. At this point, she was ready to kill just to meet the witch who cursed her.
"Tell me, did rex hit you?"
"Who's Rex?" Avice asked. Adeline had been mentioning the name. She said he was responsible for Eliana's drowning.
"Your mate".
"What? Like soulmate? Is that my husband?"
Adeline nodded. "Do you remember anything at all. Or what he said to you?"
"Why would I drown because of him?" Avice asked. Not sure the relationship between eliana and rex was healthy. "Is he an asshole?"
"So you don't remember". She stated and sighed. "That's nice. Atleast i won't get to see your sad face for a while".
"If he's that toxic, why didn't she di—i mean I divorce him?" Avice stuttered, unsure of what pronoun to use.
"You can't. It's a signed contract. One that can kill you and everyone if you try to break it". Adeline grabbed her hands and shifted closer to her. "Look, if you see him. Just run. Don't ever look back".
"Why should I run when he's the asshole?" Avice asked, getting interested in the whole marriage drama.
"Because that's what he wants. He doesn't even want to smell you so don't go anywhere close to him. Do you hear that?"
Avice shrugged. "I won't even be here for long".
She was going back to her normal life at all cost. There was no way she'd get used to seeing wolves playing in the sunset. How could she last knowing she had a mate, a wolf, bunch of haters and in a place surrounded by wolves. She preferred her simple life to a world she never knew existed.
Avice figured out she needed rain in order to go back. The lightning had brought her and she'd only drown to death without rain and lightning. But one more thing....
Money.
She needed money in her own world. She'd only return to a never ending struggle if she went back empty handed.
"How can i get money?" She sat up and grabbed Adeline's shoulders. "I need money. Alot".
"For what?"
"What do you mean? How will I survive without money?"
"You don't need money. The Alpha attends to all your needs. That's his responsibility. And you never ask for either".
"Who's the Alpha?"
"Rex".
"Her ma—My mate? Does he have alot of money?" Her heart bounced in joy.
Unsure, she nodded. "I....guess?"
Avice grinned as her eyes twinkled in celebration. She jumped up from her bed, a feeling of relief finding a comfort space in her body.
"I need to meet my husband". She smiled.
"What?!"
