Today, too, he is here. I have no idea what he is up to or what his purpose is for coming here, but Zebin has been coming to this building these days. I wonder if he has a girlfriend in this place or if Felix has asked him to look out for me since he is not able to do that himself. That idea is ridiculous, though. Felix would never do such a thing; he picks me up and drives me to work whenever he can, so that cannot be possible. The women in here, though, are all ogling him. There is no denying that Zebin is truly good-looking; if I were to describe him, you would think that he is a model and was here for a photoshoot of some sort. With his long legs and blond hair, photographers would definitely be on their knees just so he could model for them.
"If I know anything, that is that you are engaged." My head turned to the side, and there was Vic beside me. "If your fiancé were to ever hear that you were staring at another man, I'm pretty sure he'd be hurt." I rolled my eyes. This guy really has so much time on his hands that I almost envy him. However, if I were to have that much free time, I would not spend it tailing other people. It must be that he has been behaving like this around me, and that is why Felix is irritated with him. Although Felix said that this person had been asking me out even if he knew I was engaged, this is not at all true. "Have you seen the document I left on your desk this morning? Have you checked what's inside?"
"Yeah, how you wanted me to be one of the models for your designs. Are you making fun of me?"
He scoffs. "I was being sincere! How could you think of me like that? I really think you'd look good wearing the dresses that I designed!"
"Shut it, Franco. I have no time to kid around with you; I have a lot of work to do. Why don't you just go back to your desk and stop bothering me?"
"Is the taping going well? Fans have been concerned about your new drama after that scandal with Polly West. We would like to know if you are still going to star in this drama, Mr. Yera. People have been spreading false information, too; I'm pretty sure you have seen some of it."
That is true. Even after what my father did to stop the nonsense rumor and gossip about him and Polly West, some people are still trying to bring it back up and accuse him of cheating. That time he held a press conference, it was just for show—to cover up the sin he had committed with West. In times like this, when people would point their fingers at my father, I remember what my mother said to me: "Your father is an artist; rumors about him will never stop going around." I truly admire the amount of trust my mother has for my father. Marrying a successful artist must really be one of the hardest things in this world; they would be paired up with other people, and fans could be crazy. But I wish Felix and I would just be like my parents were when we were married.
"I will still be starring in this drama, so there is no need to worry. Polly West and I are good friends; the taping is going very smoothly. Unfortunately, we were told not to ever leak out any information regarding the project until it airs. But I can assure everyone that I will appear in this one, too."
"That is a good thing, isn't it?" I had not realized that Vic was still with me until he spoke. "I mean, it seems that the issue about your father has been resolved, and now he is free of any speculation from people. Right?"
I shake my head and continue on my way to the office. "This is not the end of it, I am sure. More will arise since they have started filming the drama; you know how wild some people could get. I just wish I wouldn't get involved in any of it though."
"I doubt that."
I stop. "Excuse me?"
Vic pulls his hand out of his pocket and brushes his thumb over his lips. "Well, I mean, you're his daughter. Weren't you tagged in many posts before?"
I shrug; he is right anyway. If only my father had never introduced me to the public as his daughter, I wouldn't need to be involved in any talks about him. I also just realized how famous Polly West is in the world of show business, for the rumor has not died down just yet. Some wanted her to address this issue—to release a statement or something. They have been tagging her management and asking them to give her the chance to speak.
An arm had suddenly pulled me away from Vic; it was Zebin, to my surprise. The dark-haired man to my left sneered. "I'd suggest you stay away from that creature; he's good for nothing."
Creature? Why would he call Vic like that? From the looks of it, though, it seems that these two do not get along really well. I wonder why.
"Shouldn't you get back to the human you've been guarding? He could get into trouble without you on his side. You wouldn't want to anger the gods now, would you?"
"I'm much more needed up there than you ever were."
"And that is why you are here right now."
"There is no better servant than I am, who aces everything. That is why they have selected me."
"I had heard that you were anything but useful up there. They must have been extremely annoyed with you, flying around like a hungry mosquito—hungry for attention, that is."
"If you had brought your spear with you, I would have sliced you up in pieces now."
"How many times must I tell you? It's a scythe! How'd you even become a seraph with a brain like that?"
"Can you both shut up?" I went to the middle and pushed them away from each other. "Can any one of you enlighten me? What the heck is going on? What is this talk about? Scythe, creature, guarding... What the hell is going on?"
