"So, tell me what is really going on."
I have gathered these men, Felix, Vic, and Zebin, here in my fiancé's office. The time is ten o'clock in the evening; I am not going to let any one of them leave me in the dark anymore. I had let it slide when Vic told me something that bothered me, and not one of them has enlightened me. But this time, I am not going to back down. I am neither a stranger nor an outsider from all of this; Felix coming back to life was by far the most unimaginable thing I thought could ever happen, and if these other two also came back from the dead, it would no longer shock me.
Felix exchanged glances with Zebin, then the blond shrugged his shoulders. Vic, on the other hand, kept his hands inside the pocket of his jeans while leaning his back against the gray wall. This man always seems so mysterious, and I am starting to think that is really what he was aiming for. The three stayed silent. I had them lined up in front of me, but not one dared to speak. Then my eyes shifted to my fiancé, who quickly turned away. What he does not know is that he helped me confirm that he really was hiding something from me. Felix had always been bad at lying, starting from when we started dating in high school. Now, my job is to make him talk about this secret that he is trying to protect with his life.
"What's the point of denying it anymore? We've been caught." Vic yawns. I am beginning to like him at this point. I'd really appreciate it if he would tell me every little detail about this.
"If you hadn't been such a blabbermouth, we wouldn't have been found out."
"If you hadn't interfered and pulled her away, we wouldn't be gathered in here, as if we'd committed a big crime."
"Taz, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hide this from you, but I really don't want you to worry. My coming back to this world was already surprising enough." Felix was thinking about me; that alone might have made my anger toward him fade away, but that doesn't mean that I am going to let it slide this time. I remained quiet, finding more patience that was resting deep inside of me. It took about ten minutes before Felix decided to speak again. "I did not wish for you to find out this way and too soon. But Zebin and Vic are not humans; they are not from earth."
"Oh yeah? What are they, aliens?"
"How dare this human disrespect a divine creature like myself? And in front of me even, apologize this instant. Get down on your knees, earthling! I will not tolerate such a behavior."
"I thought you were Felix's friend from elementary school?" Zebin shuts up. "But from the way you act, Felix would never have dared befriend someone like you. Your kind is who Felix hates the most." Vic, who was silent up until now, laughs. Zebin glares at the man who helped him lie to me; Felix smiles.
"It is not my fault that she knows me like the back of her hand."
"I won't let you speak ill of me any longer, mortal. If you were to know what I truly am, I am certain you'd beg for my forgiveness."
"There is no king and queen, angels, or devils here on earth. What did you call me, earthling? Aren't you standing on the same ground as me right now? What does that make you then?" Vic had drawn a scoreboard on the white board in front, and, apparently, I already scored twice. Proud of that.
"Tazanna, I am sorry. I am truly sorry; it was all my fault. Please don't be too angry." Felix wrapped his arms around my shoulders, rubbing his hands up and down to calm me down, but that is not going to work. "I will tell you everything; I will not leave out any detail. I promise!"
And I should say... This was not what I was expecting them to tell me. Apparently, Zebin is a seraph, while Vic is a Grim Reaper. So when Felix mentioned that they were not from this world, it was true; he was telling the truth. From what I know, a grim reaper is someone who takes the soul of his victim; a seraph, though, I am not quite familiar with. But what are they doing here? What is their purpose?
"You're thinking too much about this; it is written all over your face." Vic breaks the ice as he sits down on the cushioned chair that is in here. He then crossed his legs and continued, "I was sent down to take your soul."
"My... soul?" Felix smacked him on the head. "What does he mean by that, Felix? Am I going to die?"
"No!" he screams. "Don't think like that. Nothing is ever going to happen to you as long as I am here. You have to trust me, Tazanna."
"Four years ago, your fiancé flew to France alongside your parents, who told him that it was a tradition in your family to go on a vacation with the newest member. Which was a lie, wasn't it, Tazanna?" Zebin spoke, creating tension in the room. I could not talk back; how do they know about that? Did Felix tell them? But he would never betray my trust. "Don't blame Felix; he has never said anything to me, or to this... low-life creature. It seems to me that you need concrete proof for you to believe that we aren't from this world. So now you wonder, how do I know this? I had watched you cry in your sleep, even in your prayers, every night. I am one of God's trusted servants; that's why he sent me down to you both."
"God, you say?" I murmur. "I have cried for his help for four years, and he is only granting it now? What should I do then, be on my knees and give thanks?"
"I can see you didn't like that he had made you wait, but he did this for you, believe it or not. There is a lot more that you don't know, Tazanna, even you, Felix. More secrets will be revealed as we go, but neither Vic nor I can open the pandora's box. Felix was prohibited from telling you anything at all; only you, Tazanna, can make a change."
