"Do you really have no idea what the Grim Reaper has disguised himself into? Or at least his name?" I have asked Zebin about this for hours, and he might have been extremely annoyed with me. But it could not be helped since this concerns Tazanna, my fiancée. This Grim Reaper could be looking for a way to get close to her as Zebin and I speak. If only I could get a teeny tiny detail about him from Zebin, that would be such a huge help. At least that way, I can warn Tazanna about him and tell her not to entertain anyone who tries to get her attention.
"How many times must I tell you? Even I am searching for this brat! There is no chance that I know what form he is in right now; who knows, he could be a black cat passing by—look, there is one!" My eyes roll as a sigh escapes from my lips. Are angels supposed to be so gullible, or is it just this angel with me? My head turns to the right, and there is the woman that I am so desperately protecting, Tazanna. Her hand is clutching the coat of another individual, and that person is someone I am very familiar with—Vic Franco. She was bothered by this person, but I remember that they are currently working together on a project that they need to finish within this year. However, what could be the reason for her hand on his coat? Was she stopping him from going?
"You'll know soon enough, Tazanna." I do not know what is going on, but Vic certainly said something to her that bothered her, considering how she had remained standing where he had left her.
"Watch out!" My arms grab her by the waist, and I pull her closer to me. A car was coming, yet Tazanna hadn't noticed. She was by the crosswalk, yet she hadn't heard the car honking. "Are you alright?"
"Felix?" Her voice is soft; it is almost trembling. "I'm sorry, I did not see a car coming. I was..."
"That's okay. Are you hurt anywhere? Are you alright?"
She nods. "I think so, yes. What about you? And what were you doing here? Shouldn't you be at home by now?"
"Well." Zebin is right across the street; the light turns green, and he begins to cross and walks towards us. I completely forgot about him when I saw Tazanna. But angels do not get upset, do they? As he gets closer to Tazanna and me, Zebin rolls his eyes at the sight of me. I guess he really is a special case; look at him pouting. "You've met him, right? At my office."
"Oh, yes. I remember. Zebin, isn't that right?"
"I saw what happened. Are you okay? I don't know why you were frozen like that, but you should always be careful. Danger could be a lot closer than you think." I shoot him a glare as he shrugs. "Just saying facts."
"Don't mind him. Let's go home."
Tazanna had not spoken a word the second we stepped inside our home. It must be something that she is not ready to tell me just yet, and as much as I would like to hear everything about it, it'll only anger her. She decided not to eat dinner and went directly to the shower. I remember the last time that I saw her in this way; it was when they saw the news about me, who died in France. Whatever Vic Franco had said to her, it definitely shocked Tazanna.
"It was him." I jumped when I heard a voice from the living room. There is Zebin, laying on the couch as if he were in his own home. He must have used his "magic" to get inside my home. Zebin sat up and looked into my eyes. "Whoever made your fiancée look like that, it was none other than the Grim Reaper."
I chuckled nervously. "That is impossible! Vic is Tazanna's employee. There is no way that he could be the Grim Reaper that we were looking for."
"Don't be in denial, Felix." He glares at me. "There is nothing that relates to her job that could have made her like that, is there? Didn't I say that danger could be a lot closer than you think? Well, the person you are looking for has already built a relationship with your fiancée. The only wonder, though, is what he could have said to her?"
"Tazanna wouldn't say even if I tried."
"Try harder then." Zebin stands up from the couch, shoves both his hands in the pocket of his jeans, and continues, "You know what the reaper is after, don't you? It is the soul. You weren't the one supposed to die in that trip, you know that, right?" My fingers dug into my hair. "I have not taken a closer look at that brat's face; however, expect me to come by your fiancée's office building more often."
"Don't you have any magic against him, though? Haven't you come here to help me?"
Zebin smirks. "I have come here to advise you; I have not heard that it was also my job to perform a little magic show for you. That reaper has come to take the soul that had been loitering around the world, when she should have been dead for years now. I told you; it was not you that was supposed to die in that trip, Felix."
"Who's going to die?" That voice echoed around the living room, and I immediately stood up. My head turned to the side, and Zebin was nowhere in the room. Tazanna was rubbing her eyes, half-asleep, as her feet dragged her into the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water.
"I thought you were asleep." Tazanna brushed her hair with the help of her fingers; a yawn came along after that.
"I was, but then I heard you arguing with someone, although I don't see anyone in here. Were you talking to yourself?"
"It was nothing, just something about work. Let's go back to sleep, hm?"
"Yeah. So much has happened with me, too. I feel exhausted. Good night, Felix." Her lips felt warm and soft against my cheek, and then she proceeded to our shared bedroom. I threw my head upward with yet another breath passing through my mouth. This was not what I expected when they brought me back down here. They did tell me to tell Tazanna the truth about my death; though, I do not feel good with how things are going. I am afraid I'll be putting her in danger if I do any more of what they say. With the reaper now by her side, what should have happened four years ago could happen any minute now. Isn't there anything I can do?
