Chereads / Kalon, And The World Of Chaos / Chapter 2 - Sunday March 19th

Chapter 2 - Sunday March 19th

Today is my birthday. I just turned thirteen and am leaving public school for Vendetta's School Of Magic. My parents saw it as an opportunity for my siblings and me to expand our skills in magic. They expect us to become the best and smartest in the world. That's just not possible. We haven't disappointed them. My siblings and I have had perfect grades since we've been in school.

But they don't care about our grades. They just desired to look good for publicity means. My parents are well-known as powerful magicians and wish to uphold that title. So they wish for all of us to do well, but they focus mainly on my older brother Niel. He is the strongest and smartest of the four of us.

His magic knowledge nearly exceeds our parents. As a result, Niel is seen as the perfect son of our parents, especially my father. Niel is an amazing brother, but he has never interacted with us all that much. Instead, he mainly focuses on school and impressing our parents' friends and colleagues. He's known as the great one.

My younger siblings are only one year younger than me. Their names are Isabella and Dieon. They are known as exceptional twins throughout the magical world. I try to stay out of public view. I keep my progress between my parents and me. I guess that's why they slightly resent me. They hate that I keep my personal life inside the walls of our house.

It sounds sad, but that's my reality; I can't do much about it.

They are even using my birthday as a way to celebrate Niel's success. I guess I don't mind. Honestly, I don't like holidays that much, so it is not a big deal. We were supposed to dress nicely because we were having guests over. I wore the traditional tuxedo, a combination of maroon and black.

The Dieon wore a tuxedo similar to mine, and Isabella wore a dress that complimented the attire. Niel wore a maroon and gold tuxedo, black gloves, and a cane holster that harbored his wand. My parents matched based on us.

When the guests arrived, my parents occupied the entire house. So we had to put a charm on each room to make space.

"At last, the final guest arrived. We can start the welcome speech," My mother said exhaustingly. My father pulled a microphone out of his pocket and took the stage.

"Welcome distinguished guests, and welcome to our celebration of Niel's success in all his years of magic. He has impressed many members of The Magic Corps and earned direct mentorship from the organization's president."

The guest applauded him and his accomplishments. I could see my friend in the crowd. I got off stage and chatted with him.

"Some speech, eh?" I asked sarcastically. He chuckled and said, "Yeah. Happy birthday Kalon." I shook his hand and thanked him. His father walked over and said, "Hello, Williams. Your brother is quite impressive." Leos' father was a strange one. He acts condescending and superior, especially for someone second to my father.

I stood up straight and said, "Yeah. Perhaps one day you'll be as acceptable as him." That knocked the arrogant smirk off his face. He looked at me with disgust and said, "Pathetic, honestly. I don't know how you deal with him, Leo." And walked away.

I chuckled and told Leo I didn't know what everyone's problem was. "Maybe because you're not like your family," He said.

I agreed and told Leo I had to go.

My mother and father watched me as I entered the balcony.

I stared off into the night sky and saw a shooting star. The star was heading in our direction. I closed my eyes and made a wish.

When I opened my eyes, the star wasn't burning out. Instead, it looked as if it was going right for me. I backed off, and as soon as I ran for it, I was smacked in the back by the star. It exploded into green smoke, and my body was paralyzed.

The last thing I saw was a figure walking over to me.
