Chapter 9 - Skill/Aspect

Rian's heart sank as he gazed around the forgery room. The sight of all the tools and supplies used to create weapons he couldn't even begin to make properly filled him with a sense of despair. It was a daunting task, but he still longed to be able to master the art of forgery. Despite feeling like giving up, he knew he couldn't let go of his dream.

Rian reached out to grab the hammer he needed, but as his hand closed around the handle, he felt a sudden rush of despair wash over him. He had been trying to perfect the art of weapon forging for what felt like an eternity, but it seemed like an impossible task. No matter how hard he tried, he felt like he couldn't make any progress. He wished he could do more to improve his skills, but the overwhelming feeling of despair kept him from doing so. He couldn't help but feel like it was a lost cause.

Rian shook his head in disappointment as he struggled to overcome his newfound fear. "This is pointless," he said in a defeated tone. Suddenly, Rian recalled the rewards he had yet to claim. Rian was excited as he thought of the possibilities that awaited him. He was determined to make the most of the opportunity and he was eager to see what he could get out of it. He hoped would be able to get the rewards he deserved.

"Obtain rewards," Rian said with confidence. As soon as he said this he felt a sharp pain in his head, and his vision began to blur. As he struggled to comprehend what was happening Rian's head was filled with unfamiliar memories. They were memories of a chef – the sound of knives chopping vegetables, the smell of herbs and spices, the feel of a wooden spoon stirring a bubbling pot. He could almost taste the delicacies that had been prepared. It felt strange, yet strangely familiar. He couldn't quite make sense of it, but he knew there was something important about this strange experience.

Rian groaned as the aching pain in his head gradually faded away. He slowly opened his eyes, blinking away the blurriness of his vision before looking around. He realized he was lying on the cold stone floor of the forgery. Rian slowly got up from the ground, his body feeling stiff from being on the cold floor. He brushed off the dust and dirt from his clothes before stretching his limbs.

Rian spoke, "I don't think I'll get used to waking up on the floor."

[You obtain the memories of a chef]

Rian was confused. "Why a chef's memories?" Rian asked

[Because the aspect you obtained was a chef's aspect]

"What about the skill?" Rian asked

[You've obtained a Fire Skill. You will be able to create fire from scratch, control existing flames, and even extinguish them. It was an incredible power that will come in handy in the future.]

"Creating fire from scratch, huh?" Rian said, a look of disbelief and curiosity in his eyes. As soon as the words left his lips, a quest appeared before him, seemingly out of thin air.

[Daily Quest Number 2

Objective: Create a fire from scratch

Reward: 1 Aspect]

Rian closed his eyes, focusing his energy on the task ahead. He was attempting the seemingly impossible task of creating fire from scratch. For a moment, nothing happened. He was about to give up when suddenly, a spark appeared. Rian watched as the spark grew bigger and bigger until it suddenly burst into a small flame. His eyes widened in amazement as he saw what he had done.

"Woah!" Rian exclaimed in triumph, but there was one problem. Rian had no idea how to extinguish the fire he had started in his hand. He could feel the heat radiating from his palm, and he was starting to panic. He looked around frantically, searching for anything that could help him put out the flames. Suddenly, he spotted a nearby bucket filled with water, and he rushed over to it. He plunged his hand into it and felt the blessed relief of the cool liquid against his skin. He sighed with relief, thankful that the fire was out.

Rian sighed in relief, saying, "Phew, that was close." He had just taken his hands out of a bucket of water, shaking the moisture from them. Suddenly, right before his eyes, the quest he had been on before seemed to reappear.

[Daily Quest Number 2

Objective: Create a Fire from scratch

Status: Completed

Rewards: 1 Aspect]

As soon as Rian saw that he had completed the quest he immediately began to prepare himself by sitting on the cold floor to prepare himself. He uttered the words "Obtain rewards" and felt the familiar sharp pain in his head again. His vision blurred and his head was filled with memories of a Weaponsmith - the sound of a hammer striking an anvil, the smell of burning ores, and the feel of sweat. The noises and smells were so vivid like he was back in his father's workshop. He could almost feel the heat of the forge and the weight of the hammer in his hands.

Rian slowly lifted himself off the cold floor. The aching pain in his head is now gone. His vision was still blurry but he was determined to push through. He blinked several times, trying to clear his vision, but he felt more drained than ever before. He heard a voice echoing in his head, "Kid, get up quickly, the knight is coming back now!" He quickly scrambled to his feet, his heart pounding in his chest. As Rian quickly brushed off the dust and dirt from his clothes, he heard the sound of the door being unlocked and opened. He looked up to see the same knight that has been escorting him. The knight walked into the room and surveyed Rian. After a few moments, he spoke, his voice gruff and commanding. "Your hands," the knight said. Rian slowly held them out to the knight. The knight then began to carefully tie Rian's hands together with a rope.

Rian followed the knight's lead as they walked out of the forge and down the hall, back to the cafeteria where dinner was being served. As the Knight and Rian entered the cafeteria, they followed the same familiar routine. The Knight untied Rian's hands from the rope and then Rian went and stood in line for dinner.
