Chapter 12 - Tower Of Residence

Getting kicked off the drunken elder's mountain peak, Dam Son motioned his tough behind towards the Tower of Residence posing idle afield. On his way there, his friendly Papyrus that had previously shattered into incognito mode manifested beside his shoulder looking displeased.

"Huh? Where is that swindling old fart? How dared he forcibly place me into incognito mode? Hey, newborn what happened while I was asleep?" Glancing at Dam Son, Papyrus recognized an increasing calmness on his countenance. "Why are you smiling so stupidly? Are you that happy you got robbed by that geezer?"

"You could say that." Dam Son responded immediately. "I learned something special today from that elderly mister."

"Something special?" Papyrus was curious. "Like what, how to drink wine until your belly explode?"

"No, he introduced me to, Natural Verb Force."

"Natural Verb Force?" Papyrus sounded shocked by this utterance. "How come I have no data regarding this mysterious Natural Verb Force? Are you sure that geezer taught you something useful?"

"I think so." Dam Son wasn't quite sure either now that he heard that Papyrus wasn't aware of Natural Verb Force. However… "It must be something incredible. That is what my wisdom is telling me. As soon as I am settled in the Tower of Residence I will practise it just like the elderly mister taught me.

Oh, by the way…" Dam Son carefully touched the folding tips of Papyrus and said, "I've used up most of my Q-currency purchasing those bottles of wine for that mister. Forgive me but you will have to wait until I resupply my Q-currency before I can get you that Letters Ink upgrade."

"Ohh, how can I be angry with that sweet-caring face of yours?" Papyrus smothered its folds against Dam Son's cheeks affectionately. "But if you ever let yourself get so stupidly swindled again I will be veritably upset."

"Yes, yes, I understand, Papyrus." Whilst riding atop his levitating sapphire suitcase, Dam Son arrived quickly at the Tower of Residence's nadir. That area was extremely bustling with new and seasoned students coming out and going in. The Tower of Residence wasn't the only means of bedding for students. There were other exceptional establishments in Raixom academy that provided stay. However, most students stuck with this placement due to the wide exposure of Word Masters their age.

"Now that I'm this close, it really is a majestic structure." From the ground, Dam Son looked up at the towering sky-long building. Its outer make-up was comprised of the finest architectural materials in Vocabular. Innumerable mystical pages of multiple varieties were constantly oscillating its solid curvatures. "How many people do you think this place can fit, Papyrus?"

"By my estimate, a whole lot. Each 627th floor was built with embedded Dimensional Scripts. Go inside and see for yourself. You will be amazed by the scale of décor."

"Okay." As soon as Dam Son entered through one of the multiple entrances, a brand new environment greeted him on the other side. "Wow! This place is like another whole academy."

The ground floor of the Tower of Residence was on par with a minor town in Raixom settlement. Inside resembled a bustling commercial space rife with multifarious activities. From large business trades to lesser peddlers could be seen all around. A lot of floating script tousled the surroundings. A true domain of young Word Masters.

"Are all those flying papers Papyri?" Dam Son was confounded by the number of students and their Guides. "Does every single Word Master owns a Papyrus?"

"Within Vocabular, almost 99% of them do. These floating sheets like myself are merely the basic form of Word Masters advancement, otherwise known as Guides."

"What do you mean, Papyrus?"

"You will find out more about this later in your studies but I see no harm in telling you now." Papyrus produced a sheet of paper that displayed 4 series of relatable imagery. "Starting from the left, the first Guide you see is a Papyrus; it signifies the most basic level of Word Mastery advancement. Next, there is a Manuscript; it highlights the moderate level of Word Mastery advancement. Then there is Hardcover. This is basically when an evolved Manuscript earns its cover which signifies intermediate level Word Mastery. Lastly, we have the Tome; the most advanced level of Word Mastery comprised of dozens of Manuscripts combined. Only Word Masters who possessed 500 or more Powered Scripts can evolve their Guides to this level. Something that I also forgot to mention is the Word Mastery level which is displayed at the very back of each owned Guide. This feature can also be hidden by the user."

"Take a look." Papyrus displayed its naughty rear region to Dam Son.

Dam Son got enthusiastic about boosting his stats after viewing his Guide's posterior. "Oh, there is so much to learn in Vocabular. So that means the stronger I become, you will eventually evolve into a Manuscript then a Hardcover and finally a powerful Tome, right Papyrus?"

"Yes, that is correct."

"Sweet! I can't wait to see how you will look then."

"Me neither. Hopefully, you don't die before then as my previous owner did. Now let's go up to your room." Papyrus directed Dam Son to a Page Elevator which carried him all the way up the 350th floor where his residence was reserved.

In the Tower of Residence, the higher floors were more lavished than the bottom ones. Dam Son's living quarter was in between extravagant and moderate. "Is this the room?" Dam Son used his TR-key to check if he had the right residence. The door opening confirmed that he was correct.

Upon entering the peculiar space, Dam Son was greeted by a natural ambience which suited his Dark-Human Avatar. Nothing awfully fancy but sizeable and well decorated for one person's living. "This entire space is mine alone?" Dam Son thought he might have to share residence with several other people.

"All rooms in the Tower of Residence are reserved only for one Word Master, but that doesn't stop you from inviting others over," Papyrus told him.

"Oh, really? So I have this spacious area all to myself. What should I do first, search around?"

"You should think about taking a bath first, you're rather smelly." Papyrus rolled up into a scroll to avoid smelling Dam Son's pungent aroma.

"What do you mean by taking a bath?" Never in his created existence had Dam Son ever intentionally showered before. He had never been naked either, thus I doubt he was aware of the style of his Avatar's manhood. (If he even had any???)

"You don't know what showering is?" Papyrus was appalled hearing this. "You really are a newborn. Come with me. I will show you how to get naked and clean yourself up." Papyrus led Dam Son to the bathhouse where it taught Dam Son about the art of cleansing oneself. "This is how humans do it." It showed him a couple of pages with illustrated demonstrations.

"I see." Spending his first night in the Tower of Residence, Dam Son learned how to properly shower. He was completely clueless without his Papyrus.
