As Gilbert opened the small red box, Beatrice's heart skipped a beat. Inside was a breathtaking necklace with a ruby-colored gem that sparkled in the light. It was more beautiful and luxurious than the amulet.
"Oh, Gilbert," she gasped in awe, looking up at him with eyes full of love and gratitude.
"I saw it in the city hall and immediately thought of you," Gilbert said softly, taking the necklace out of the box and holding it up to her neck. "Please allow me to adorn you with this beautiful gem, my love."
Gilbert gently lifted the necklace from the box and held it up to Beatrice's neck. His fingers brushed against her skin. He slowly wrapped the necklace around her neck, his warm breath tickling her earlobe.
Beatrice's eyes fluttered closed as she felt the cool metal of the necklace against her skin, contrasting with the warmth of Gilbert's hands. She could feel his fingers delicately fastening the clasp at the back of her neck.
