Beatrice tried to crawl away, but her mother grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back. "You're not going anywhere, you little bitch!" she spat.
Sophie lay motionless on the ground, and Beatrice could feel her life slipping away. She had to do something, anything, to stop the Duchess from killing her. With a surge of energy, she kicked her mother in the stomach, causing her to stumble back.
The Duchess's face twisted with rage as she raised the ornament again. Beatrice closed her eyes, waiting for the final blow. But it never came.
It was the voice of her brother, Richard that was thundering in the room, "What are you doing, mother? Stop it!" Richard's voice boomed over the sound of thunder as he forcefully separated the Duchess from Beatrice.
"You're insane!" Arthur screamed. "Beatrice! Wake up, please." He rushed to Beatrice's side, who had been injured badly during the confrontation.
