Chapter 41 - Mother Wrath

Beatrice stepped out of the carriage with Sophie's help, and they were immediately assaulted by the raging storm. The wind was so strong that it threatened to knock them over, and the thunder was so loud that it made their ears ring. 

They huddled under the umbrella, but it was no use. They were already soaked through to the bone. As they made their way inside the main hall, the atmosphere was quiet. 

Beatrice's mood darkened further as she thought about how unlucky they were to have encountered this storm. They had been so close to safety when it had suddenly picked up again, trapping them in this miserable weather.

The halls were eerily quiet, save for the sound of raindrops tapping against the windows. Beatrice's unease grew as she made her way to her chamber, and her worries were confirmed when her maid approached her in a hurry.

"My lady, Duchess Alicia has gone mad! She's destroyed your chamber!" the maid said, urgency ringing in her voice.
