"Wh-! Bullshit!!" I retorted Jane's words, my face flushed with embarrassment. I was actually glad for a moment it was dark.
"It's a different smell anyway, it's the smell of something…"
"Rotten!!" We both exclaimed at the same time.
I didn't know how I just noticed of the fishy smell but I felt my heart start beating faster.
The smell was unpleasant and it was probably more so to Jana.
It was dark, I didn't know where the exit to this room was.
I didn't even know where to step.
This made my anxiety spike up.
Was this haunted house really for real? Was it truly haunted?
Were there ghost here? And what about the scream earlier?
Brriiighhnng!!
At the sudden sound, me and even Jana, jumped in fright.
It was then that as if coming to a realization, Jana exclaimed, "I-its my phone! It's the ringtone!!"
Phew I sighed in relief, I came close to the sound — naturally me and Jana had to separate however we still stuck close.
She was clutching on the edge of my clothes whilst I bent down to pick up the phone that was continuously ringing.
When I picked it up, I quickly turned it on and activated the light.
And when I finally saw something other than darkness, I felt soo relieved.
When the flash of light, appeared, Jana also looked relief.
"Thank god we-" Just as she was about to say something, a rustling sound echoed.
My heart skipped a bit, I instinctively pointed the focus of the light towards where the sound came from.
Jana stuck behind me clearly scared out of her wits, her face pale as a paper.
When the light landed on the culprit of the noise, my heart flinched.
Nyaaaanhhgg!!
It was a cat.
Though a very, very ugly cat. And I was not exaggerating.
It had very disgusting fur with some of its skin peeling off exposing worm-crawling wounds dripping with blood. It's other ear was cut off and it had a very ghastly wound on its right eye.
It looked like a zombie cat!
It was how a cat would look like if it was thrown into a radioactive chemical.
Just imagining something like that would make anyone vomit. It was truly disgusting.
I was not different from anyone, I also felt puking at the disgusting sight but what I felt more was fear. I was honestly terrified and felt like I was gonna piss myself.
One jumpscare after another kept occuring and it naturally affected my mind and kept it in a state of panic and fear.
I didn't even know when but I soon realized I found myself running away with Jane in my chest being carried in a way a knight would carry the princess when in danger.
Jana also didn't seem to mind as she stuck close to my chest. She too was frightened with the sudden appearance of that ghastly cat.
Experiencing one thing after another of scares and jumps, she was more afraid than ever.
She didn't even realize she was clutching to Von's chest.
Also, at the same time, she was having this vague feeling she could not comprehend, a feeling she would come to know in the future as concern and comfort.
____________
"Ha…hah…hah…" The gasping of air sounded.
"Are you okay?" I asked to Jana who was covered with sweat and was desperately trying to inhale as much air as she could.
"I'm okay? That was like a rollercoaster ride!" She exclaimed looking at me whilst rolling her eyes.
I smiled awkwardly.
"I-Is that so…bu-but wasn't it fun?" I gulped at the stupid words that came out my mouth.
Who would have had fun with that kind of shit-ass, horror-like experience besides him?
Jana was silent. I gulped thinking about how it would hurt to have your cheek slapped by a lady.
"We-well I guess so…I guess it was somewhat fun." She said after a long moment of silence.
Wh-!
I was shocked!
Words could not describe how shocked I was.
"I-it was my first time having a date to a haunted house — if it could even be called a date. Anyway, even though it was scary for the most part, you made me experience something for the first time of my whole life. Also, it was somewhat…exciting too." She looked me right in the eye and revealed a glistening small smile with her pinky lips.
Silence insued in the surroundings. Right now we were far away from the haunted house and was currently in the middle of the bridge after painstakingly running away.
As it was also in the middle of the night, the moon was bright and the wind was cold.
A romantic set up suited for couples who would propose to each other.
My lips trembled…
Shwoooooshs.
"Would you…go out with me?" My heart started beating fast unlike earlier which was caused by fear and surprises but now, my heart pounded in anticipation as I awaited her answer.
