Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Why?!

"Thank you for that…thank you, I appreciate it." Jana said after breaking their hug, she wiped away the tears she had left in her eyes.

"It's nothing, really…" I replied looking at Jana who seemed more…free.

She was definitely more different than before. If before she was like a woman who was carrying the most burden of her whole life, now she looked like she was a woman who was carefree and had nothing to worry about.

A woman free of worries — that was what she was.

And right now, she looked more beautiful than ever. Words could not be enough to even describe a portion of her beauty.

If to someone she only looked to be a beauty befitting an actor, to me she looked like the most beautiful woman in the entire world.

She was a goddess with impeccable and unblimeshed beauty, a beauty that didn't limit to outer appearance but even stretch to the very soul and heart.

She was a goddess — an immortal!

I subconsciously stretched out my hand trying to take a hold of her right cheek gently.

Jana grabbed a hold of my hand and placed it on her cheek herself.

Something I totally didn't expect.

She tilted her head to the side where my hand laid.

"I really like the warmth you give me…" She said with a slight blush on her cheeks which made her absolutely adorable and cute.

I was speechless, but also felt happy. I revealed a small smile.

"I really hope, we experience new things together, create very precious memories together, and live a life together for a very, very long time." She showed the biggest smile I had ever seen she made in our short day of moments together.

As much as how I was happy that she could make that big smile on her face, her words made my smile crumble.

'Live a life together for a very, very long time…' Those words echoed in my mind. My head lowered as my smile disappeared.

"Hey, what's the matter?" She asked but got distracted by the sudden flashes of light.

Jana turned her neck and looked at the skies only to see meteors rain down one by one leaving a trail of beautiful, mesmerizing light.

"Beautiful…" I heard Jana express.

I still couldn't get rid of those words that had stuck in my mind. I felt like my heart was getting ripped apart, a pain was buried deep within me.

Just when I thought I was okay with it. That I was fine with it. That I had already accepted it!

Why?!

Why?!

I placed my trembling right hand on my face as I tried to hide the painful expression I had failed to keep hidden and hide the tears that I had failed to stop from falling.

It seems that my choice of asking her back then…was a mistake.

What I thought I had accepted — changed, after I met with her, after I met and experienced beautiful moments with her.

Those high hope of hers, no matter what I felt, nothing would change. Whether I accepted it or not, the fate I would end up in would remain the same nonetheless.

Fate…was messing with me!

I tried to get a hold of myself, I was relieved that Jana was distracted by the meteor shower.

After taking a deep breath and leaving those matter aside for now, I looked up and gazed not upon the beautiful trail of lights of the meteor but the beautiful, gorgeous woman infront of me.

A woman who's beauty coulx not be described by mere words.

It was at this moment, I realized. I loved her!

I loved Jana without a hint of doubt!!

A comet flew by which caught my eye.

'I too wish, I could live a life with you forever…' In the back of my mind, I thought.

Unfortunately, such thoughts were impossible.
