Chapter 15 - Chapter 12A

"I'm dead. I just know that Avery is definitely going to kill me. What I do? How do I tell her this—" Evie started.

"Just tell her it was a mistake. It is a mistake Evie, you didn't know this was going to happen." Dixie interrupted. But Evie continued pacing up and down Avery's room. She was all sweaty and very nervous. "Evie, you're going to bore a fucking hole on the floor with your pacing." Dixie tried to calm her down.

"Honestly, if you don't have anything helpful to say, just shut up Dixie! Should I remind you of what Avery did to us in middle school for humiliating her even though it was halloween and we were literally just trying to prank her? I still have PTSD every Halloween till date, so don't tell me it's just a mistake and that she will understand!"

Dixie's eyes widened as she remembered.

Evie looked at her scared expression and said, "That's what I thought. Now, what country do you think I should relocate to? Do I look tan enough to pass off as a Brazilian?"

"Look, I remember exactly what happened that day, and the entire month even, but, it hasn't gotten that bad, yet. You are not moving to Brazil, that's just crazy!"

"How about Europe?" Evie didn't stop pacing and even though they spoke in whispers, Avery heard them and she tossed and turned.

As Avery moved, the two girls stopped moving. Evie even stopped breathing for some seconds. She said a silent prayer and hoped to survive whatever Avery does to her.

Avery just opened her eyes and the headache from her hangover made her squint. With her eyes slightly shut, she looked around her and saw Dixie sitting uneasily on the sofa at the corner of her room. Evie was standing, slightly hunched in the middle of her room, looking like she was abruptly interrupted from pacing. Avery knew her friend only did that whenever she was in trouble or if she was nervous about something.

"Ugh! What the fuck is going on? Why are you guys so loud? And more importantly, why the fuck are y'all in my room this early?"

Evie looked at Dixie for moral support, then looked back at Avery and calmly said, "Avery, I know you would hate me but I want you to know that I'm deeply sorry and even if you do anything to me, just don't physically harm me, I don't—"

Avery frowned and asked, "What the fuck are you talking about? Why on earth would I harm you? What am I? A psychopath? You're like my favorite person. Ugh! I'm the one who drank too much, yet you're the one saying absurd things this morning."

"I—I—I'm your favorite person? You see me as your favorite person?" Evie stuttered. If things were different, that comment would been the best thing she had ever heard from Avery but now she was about to break a news she knew Avery wouldn't like at all.

"You're trending on different news channels and blogs with the city and outside the city, Avery." Dixie spat out.

Dixie's revelation left both Avery and Evie shocked. Evie's mouth hung low while Avery frowned.

"What?!" Avery raised her voice. "Evie, what the hell is she talking about? Start talking!" Realising that it must have been the reason Evie was pacing, Avery asked her, "What the fuck did you do?"

"I—I—I s-swear, Avery, I didn't do it on purpose. I don't know how—"

Avery shut her eyes and held her hands up for Evie to stop talking, then she turned to Dixie and said, "what are they saying?"

"That you confessed to been stalked by someone." Dixie replied.

Confused, Avery asked, "A stalker? I confessed that I had a stalker?" She turned back to Evie and said, "When was this?" Without waiting to hear what Evie had to say, she turned to Dixie and said, "What stalker?"

Dixie read from her phone and said, "In quote, The daughter of billionaires Dawne and Aurora Musk, a sensational influencer and multiple brand ambassador, Avery Musk, was seen confessing in a live video by one of her closest friends, that she has a stalker. She seemed worried in the said video and wondered why he was everywhere she went. From the video, it looked like she is at a party and the stalker is at the same party. This is less than twenty-four hours after the influencer announced on her social media story that she was off to college. We hope she gets all the protection she can get, we can't imagine how she must be feeling now. Hopefully, authorities are involved and she gets the protection she needs." Then Dixie looked up at Avery and said, "That's just one of the multiple publication. Blue tea table had a whole show on you this morning. They focused more on the dangers of announcing your location on social media."

Avery rubbed her forehead and cussed. She knew her father had seen it and was probably on his way. She knew they had blown up her phone with messages and calls. Almost like they read her mind, Evie said, "Your dad, mum and brother have been calling us non-stop. Your manager is on her way here. I think your brother too. Avery, who is the stalker?"

"There's no stalker. It was Mason I was talking about in the video. It's all a complicated misunderstanding." Avery replied.

"Mason? The guy opposite our apartment? The one who carried—"

"Yes Dixie! We don't know any other Mason in this building!" Evie snapped.

"Why are you getting mad at me, I'm just—" They got interrupted by the sound of the doorbell.

"Who could that be?" Dixie asked.

Avery stepped out of her bed to answer the door and as she walked out of her room, she called back, "Probably the entire security team in this city."

Evie let out a gasp and whispered, "What the fuck have I done?!"

The door opened and revealed Aubrey and Jennie—Avery's manager.
