"Eighteen is an adult." Dylan said
"A very very young adult." Maya said.
"Kinda like the rest of us here. We're all young adults" Maya replied
Mason looked over to the girls and saw Avery do a handstand variation with a split in the air. She held that position for some seconds. Evie did a middle split with a very carefree attitude and then she just started admiring her nails.
The poses they did had the other people in the gym staring at them and they didn't even notice the stares. Dylan was impressed that he just sat and watched them. Jessica noticed how everyone kept staring at Avery so she turned to look at Mason and caught him staring at Avery more than five times. He tried to pretend that he didn't care but she could see that he couldn't resist looking at her. She guessed that there must be a trouble in paradise for them and that's why he didn't go over to them when Dylan did She also saw his jaw clench when Dylan was laughing with the girls and when the other boys said hello to them.
She also saw her friend, Sheryl take a picture of the girls who were just doing their thing, and then she went to show them . Evie looked impressed at the picture. She showed it to Avery who smiled and asked Sheryl for the pictures and after that she heard Sheryl shriek and say, "oh my God! Are you messing with me? This is the highlight of my morning, I can't believe this."
She couldn't go over to the girls so she waited till Sheryl came over. She told her she just got followed by both Avery and Evie on IG. Avery even liked a couple of her pictures. Jessica was immediately jealous, she too wanted a following. She was jealous because she introduced Sheryl to the girl's Instagram pages a year ago when she forced Sheryl to be her photographer. She showed her some photos of Avery and Sherly got addicted to Avery's style. She was so influenced by Avery that she would try anything Avery recommended. Getting a follow and some likes from Avery was definitely a big deal, especially in their social media status, and Jessica wanted it too. She couldn't decided if she should ask them directly, or go through Dixie. Dixie had agreed to join the sorority the night they partied at Troy. Although she said she'd think about it.
When the girls thought their yoga session was enough, they stopped and decided to leave the gym. Dylan went to meet them and asked them if they'd like to have breakfast with them; He, Mason, Maya and Naya. They agreed and then he signalled them to join them for breakfast but he went to eat with the girls.
Mason just looked at Dylan in awe, he could not believe he was suddenly all over the girls and was going to eat when he hadn't even completed his own set. But, he stopped his own set and told Maya and Naya that he was done.
Avery and Evie went back to their apartment with Dylan, to keep their yoga mats that was rolled up into a bundle. Afterwards, they went to the buffet hall to eat. This time, they went with Dixie.
When they got to the buffet hall, Mason and the other girls were already seated. So, they grabbed what they wanted for breakfast from the buffet table and sat on the same table as Mason and the girls to eat. Evie sat beside Mason, facing Dylan, while Avery sat beside Dylan but facing Mason. Dixie sat facing Maya and Naya. She nodded at them with a polite smile and just started eating. As they ate, Avery and Dylan made small talks and laughed. Maya and Naya joined in the conversation occasionally.
"Where are you guys from? You have this European accent I can't ignore." Dixie asked Maya.
"We're Europeans." Maya said proudly
"What part of Europe?"
"Sweden" Naya replied
"I love Sweden." Evie announced.
The girls continued talking about random things and then Jessica asked Evie for a follow back on Instagram. Mason didn't hear what Evie replied because he kept looking at Dylan flirt with Avery. He clenched his jaw and didn't understand why Avery was so comfortable with flirting with Dylan after the night they had a week ago.
He brought out his phone and began to scroll through his Twitter. He saw some posts that he liked so, he liked some of them and retweeted some.
After they finished eating, Mason signalled Dylan that he wanted to leave. He looked over at Avery and frowned when she looked at him. She quickly looked away but he could tell that something was wrong with them.
When he got back to his room, he showered and decided to go to school.
"Off to school?" Dylan asked.
"Yeah, are you coming?"
"Nahh, my class is much much much later. How many classes do you have today?"
"A bunch. I think less than four. I'll also apply for the tutoring service today with Dean Parker."
"Ohhh, I think I'll do mine much later."
"Okay. Then I'll see you later."
"Alright."
As soon as he walked out the door, he saw Avery and Evie come out of their apartment, he looked at Avery and their eyes met briefly before she looked away. She proceeded to walk in front of him. When they got to the elevator, she still didn't say a word to him and Evie seemed to be more interested in the text she was sending to whoever she was texting, to notice the awkward tension between him and Avery. They got out, used the same ride, with Evie sitting between them in the limo. When they got to school, Avery immediately wore her sunglasses and said goodbye to Evie as she walked towards the building where her classes were supposed to be.
He wanted to follow her, stop her, then ask her why she was acting that way to him but suddenly, he didn't think it was worth it and he didn't want another viral news about him and her. So, he just went to the Dean's office to apply for his annual tutoring service.
"Mason! How are you doing?" the Dean asked as soon as he saw him. They had a cordial relationship.
"Very well Dean Parker. How are you doing?"
"Great. Are you here for your usual?" Dean Parker tried to make a joke and Mason just smiled to be friendly.
"Of course. Has anyone shown interest in needing a tutor yet?"
"Not yet but the midterm assessment is around the corner, people will soon be needing your services."
"Sure."
"How is my nephew? Is he going to take this service this semester?"
"Dylan is okay. I'm not sure yet. He didn't say he wouldn't. He might have forgotten to sign up but he eventually will."
"Well, we'll see how it goes. Let me know if you need anything, okay?"
"Alright Dean Parker, that will be all. See you soon."
As soon as he left the Dean's office, he decided to un-send the message he sent to Avery but just as he was about to, he saw that she was typing. His heart skipped several beats but he still stared at the phone, looking at the "typing", hoping it will change to a message from her. After waiting for 2 minutes, he couldn't see the "typing" notification in their chat space so he assumed she deleted what she wanted to say. Or maybe, she really didn't want to talk to him.
He just exited the message and went on about his normal activities.
