Chapter 2 - getting ready

Jess pov:
I finally got home and decided to take a load off until my boss hit me with a message. I rolled my eyes and opened it, and that's when I saw Adrien's portfolio staring back at me. I was curious about the guy I was gonna be dating, so I made my way to the couch and started reading.

From what I saw, Adrien was a pretty normal dude with a bank account that rivaled a small country's GDP. But there was something weird - I didn't see any info about his job or his parents. I was too curious to care, though, and I scrolled to the top to check out his pic. Oh. My. God. He was fine! Just looking at his face made me drool. His features were like a Greek god's - emerald eyes, dark curly hair, and skin so light it looked like porcelain. It felt like his eyes were staring deep into my soul. I got lost in that pic for a hot minute.

I snapped out of it when I heard a gunshot and jumped up, thinking someone was breaking in or something. But it was just the TV. I must've turned it on accidentally. I set an alarm on my phone and decided to chill and watch Netflix until 7 pm, when my boss was gonna pick me up. I needed to look nice, after all.

I watched TV for hours, feeling like I missed my off days when I could just chill at home without any drama. I eventually dozed off without realizing it. Then my phone alarm went off, and I woke up feeling a bit groggy. It was 7 pm, finally! Time to get ready.

I made my way to the bathroom, took a bath, brushed my teeth again, shaved, and finally left the bathroom feeling fresh and clean. On my way out, I decided to hit up Holly, the organization's makeup artist, because let's face it, I'm not exactly a makeup pro.

I got dressed while waiting for her, throwing on a leather black skin-tight leggings paired with a white cropped top, a leather jacket to match, and some white sneakers. I felt pretty ready, but then Holly showed up with my boss, Jason, and they both looked at me like I was some kind of hot mess.

"What are you wearing, Jess?" Jason asked, looking me up and down like I was some kind of science experiment gone wrong. "Thank God we brought you a dress and heels. Holly, you know what to do - please fix this... situation." Jason looked at me like I was an abomination or something. I rolled my eyes and walked towards Holly, greeting her and showing her to my room.

"Okay, let's get this over with. Where's the dress?" I asked, looking at Holly expectantly. She sighed and handed me the dress, and I reluctantly put it on. It was a black, classy, skin-tight armless dress. I gotta admit, it was nice, but I'm not exactly a dress kind of girl.

Holly did my makeup, and when she finished, I looked in the mirror and was shocked. I looked great! The car ride was silent, and it took about thirty minutes to get to our destination. As I got out of the car, Adrien held my hand, and I looked at him confused. "Don't mess this up," he said, and with that, I was left standing there feeling a bit uncertain.
