Chapter 6 - chapter 6

Jess's POV:

He left the room, leaving me with a plethora of questions. I needed to call Jason, but my phone was nowhere to be found. I decided to leave the room and confront Lucas, demanding my phone and threatening to kill him. As I exited, I spotted Lucas leaving another room nearby and quickly tackled him to the ground.

"What the hell, Jess?" he groaned in pain, serving him right.

"What the hell, Lucas? You knocked me out for no reason, and now I'm going to kill you!" I shouted, trying to find something to hit him with, but there was nothing in sight. I opted to punch him instead, but Adrien appeared out of nowhere and carried me away while Lucas escaped.

"You're one crazy girl," Lucas said, and I retorted, "You want crazy? I'll show you crazy!" Adrien held me back, and Lucas fled like a coward. "COWARD!" I yelled loud enough for Lucas to hear.

Adrien gave me a weird look. "What?" I asked, and he shrugged. "Try not to kill my brother," he said, still holding my waist. I asked about my phone, and he replied, "Your phone is in your room; did you even try looking there?" I rolled my eyes, "I already checked; it's not there."

Lucas returned, and Adrien released me. I decided to sleep, still tired despite being knocked out earlier. Later, I couldn't sleep, so I went to disturb Adrien, who was working. "I can't sleep," I said, but he ignored me, not even sparing a glance. I grabbed the documents he was reading, and he finally looked at me. "Put those documents down now," he said, trying to sound calm, but I knew he was angry.

I gestured to the document, and his expression turned menacing. He stood up, and I ran, feeling scared. "Jess, get back here!" he chased after me, but I didn't get far. He caught up and forcefully pulled the document from me, ripping it in half. I knew I had messed up.

"What the hell is wrong with you? You needed attention so badly you made me tear important documents. You have my full attention now; what do you want?" he shouted at me. Tears streamed down my face; why was I crying? He had shouted, and I had cried; it wasn't the first time, so why now?

I dropped my head, removed my hands from his grasp, and ran to my room, continuing to cry until I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was in another room, but my phone was beside me. I quickly called Jason, but he didn't answer until the fourth try. "Hey, Jess, glad to see you're still breathing," he said, and I rolled my eyes.

"This mission is wack; I don't even have a code name, and I don't know what I'm here to accomplish. Just give me the full info about the mission," I pleaded, and for the first time, he answered, "There was no need for a code name because you and the person you're disguising as have the same name. You're there to gather information about Adrien; the organization suspects him of trafficking drugs, but there's no solid proof yet. The girl's name is Jess Murray; she's still in Miami, waiting for Adrien to marry her, but we're taking care of her."

I finally understood the mission and let out a sigh of relief. I decided to stay in the room, not knowing the time, but hunger eventually drove me out. I snuck out, trying not to alert Adrien, and got lost in the huge house. After thirty minutes of wandering, I met Lucas, and he led me to the kitchen. "Hey, what are you doing down here?" he asked curiously.

"I got hungry and decided to find the kitchen, but I got lost," I replied, and he smiled. "Oh, trouble in paradise," he said, and I rolled my eyes. Adrien shouted from behind, "LUCAS, SHUT UP AND TAKE HER TO THE DAMN KITCHEN!" Lucas dragged me to the kitchen, and I was relieved to finally eat something.

Lucas offered to make pancakes, and I agreed, surprised he could cook. As he prepared the food, I played games on my phone until he snatched it away, saying, "What? Don't look at me like that; I'veThere was a problem generating a response. Please try again later.
