Chereads / The Grimoire: Battle Of Sorcerers / Chapter 37 - What Is your Name.

Chapter 37 - What Is your Name.

Stephen glared at her sternly, waiting for her to change her answer. But she remained absolute with her words. He could still read the doubt and lack of confidence that oozed off her, but he didn't want to impose his opinions on her. This was what she wanted. And besides he wasn't planning on convincing the only reasonable ally he had, to change her mind.

"Are you certain about this Anna Jones? Once you do this, there's no going back" Stephen made clear just to tell her how serious this was.

Anna nodded in certainty as reply to his words before repeating her answer once more, "I'm ready"

Anna was already aware of what was going on, but she was going to save her mother no matter the cost. Jeffery was not only a threat to her, but also a threat to the entire sorcery society. As long as he had the book, there was no telling how much his powers would grow. He needed to be stopped as soon as possible. And that was one of her main reasons for aligning herself with somebody who wasn't even from her clan.

Joining this alliance didn't only benefit her in one way. Anna had already mapped out the benefits she would gain from joining this alliance, and her plans in it.

If they managed to take Jeffery down with the help of her newly found partners, she was going to turn on them and take the book back to her clan. There was no trusting an Infernal Judgement. Especially not with the powers of a book that could aid them in more ways than it would for the other clans. And most especially not in the hands of a bloodlusted maniac like the one that stood in front her.

She was already aware that carrying out this feat wouldn't be easy. And for her to actually make it reality, she needed to get stronger than the man in front of her. And anybody else that might join them later on.

Anna knew she also had to be careful with herself, and everything she did around here. The easiest way for her to accomplish this without much difficulty was winning the trust of everyone that would work with them. Which would make ambushing, and taking them out relatively easy.

This meant that she had to be manipulative, and make very intelligent moves as long as she was in this alliance. Luckily for her, the traits that she that she needed for her plans weren't far from her. All she needed to do was put up a smile and act like she always did, and everything would go according to her plan.

Stephen was now sure that she was ready. Even though she was probably the must trustable and reasonable person out of the three people he had managed to recruit, he wasn't going to trust at all. He already knew enough from Richard's hateful stories about how sly and cunning she could be.. And he knew better to trust a woman to begin with.

The other two members of his little group were his friends, or rather familiar faces. He couldn't call them friends simply because he laughed with them. Those twins were snakes, and were probably the strongest amongst them at the moment. Sebastian and Stanley Hardwood. Their names and appearance might appear nice and alluring, but these boys were more toxic and dangerous than a cobra's venom.

They had been trained by his dead mother, and were proficient in the use of curses and cursed tools. While his mother paid little attention to him because of his lack of talent, his younger siblings were prodigies. They were born a year after him and just within five years of their birth, they had already showed tremendous promise. While his mother still waited for him to awaken his magical abilities, but he never did.

The twins had even been argued to be the next successor of their family. But due to Richard already made the master of an archdemon, the twins were ruled out of the race.

Even though they were family and blood, Stephen never really considered them his friends or even brothers. These boys were as dangerous as anything he could think of, and he could always get the vibe that they always wanted to get rid of him right from childhood.

They were drunk with power and pride, and never considered anyone below them as a sorcerer. To them anyone who wasn't able to perform magic was trash, and was just as good as the ordinary man including Baxists.

He couldn't say that the twins were the core reasons of his motivation to get stronger, and as powerful as he was. But they definitely had a hand in it. Because he was constantly afraid of those bastards taking his life, he had poured in more efforts into his training. He was definitely strong now, and scaled up them individually, but together they were almost unbeatable.

He didn't want to say anything to Anna now, she might change her mind and run off the instant she got a whiff of just how evil and dangerous they were. His team was definitely strong, but they still didn't stand a chance against Jeffery or even the man that killed their mother.

The twins were below their mother in terms of strength, and with him combined, then they were probably a match for her. They didn't know how powerful the man that had killed her was, but it was safe to assume he was probably stronger than she was.

Their mother was definitely a powerful sorceress who was capable of wiping the mind of an entire town when she had mistakenly let her powers slip. She was definitely a force to reckon with. And for someone to best her in battle meant that the person was a monster.

He had initially began this merry crew to get back at the Bruce for his mother's death. But after some thinking and discoveries, he had now had a bigger target. It involved the Bruce family anyway, but it was something much more powerful, something that could make his dreams come true. The Maledictio Caelum et Infernium. The most powerful Grimoire to ever exist, and it was in the possession of non other than Jeffery Bruce.

He was already aware that as the leader of the Blood clan, Jeffery was already naturally on par with at least the fifth member of the Elders. But with the book in his possession it was safe to assume that he had gotten much more stronger.

His crew was nowhere near an elders level at this point, which meant that they would all die if they attempted to attack Jeffery. But there was no way they were going to get the book if they didn't take the man down. His brothers were only in because of revenge, which meant they had no need for the book. They might have heard of it, but so far they hadn't shown interest in it. The only person he could tell had a need for the book was Anna, and that was why he considered recruiting her in the first place.

He had learnt that the book had all the spells that ever exist within its pages, and had no end. As long as sorcerers kept coming up with spells, then the book would keep on updating itself. He was certain that within the pages of this book held a spell that could make all his dreams come true. With the powers of the Maledictio Caelum et Infernium, he could finally grant himself his utmost desire, the ability to use magic.

Even though he was fully accomplished as a Baxist, his life dream was to be able to perform magic. He had lived most of childhood trying to please his mother, but no matter how much he tried, she saw him as nothing but failure.

His inability to use magic had not only scared him emotionally, but also mentally and he couldn't desire anything else above using magic. He wanted to be able to shame his siblings, and put them in their place. And the only way to do that was to be able to utilize magic. With his current strength added with sorcery powers, he would definitely be a force to reckon with.

He returned from his fantasies and embraced reality. For them to ever think of getting their hands on that book, then they needed to get stronger and they needed more help. The forces he had now were definitely capable, but compared to Jeffery, they were chicken fodder. He needed to grow and as soon as possible.

Anna could tell that something was on his mind, but she didn't want to interrupt his moment. His face was suddenly gleaming and his bloodlusted aura had dropped for a moment. She ignored these things and regarded them as a casual sensation.

She too would be happy if someone turns up and offers to aid her in bringing Jeffery Bruce down, so it was natural for him to be happy. She drove away the thoughts and focused on the important thing which was getting to know her ally well. She was going to take it slowly and start with the simple questions. After all nobody was going to give up all their informations to her in a single meeting."What is your name my newly found ally?"
