Ellie looked at the glowing blue level-up menu in front of her, she turned to her left and noticed that the scaled creatures she was trying to compete with were frozen, hanging in midair with their mouths open.
'It seems like time is frozen while I am in the process of leveling up.'
She looked at the list before her, noticing 5 unallocated skill points in the top right of the blue window. The top of the window said [Level 1 Crystal Lizard Hatchling] in bold letters.
'How the hell did I forget what a lizard was?' Ellie then looked at the list of places she could put her points
---------------------------------------
Agility: 3
Intelligence: 5
Strength: 2
Mana: 4
Spells: NONE
Talents: [Crystal Sense]
---------------------------------------
Ellie looked at the talent [Crystal Sense] and it opened up a description.
{Crystal Sense is the ability to intuitively know where a crystal is, this ability does not work 100% of the time}
'I guess that could be useful if I ever need to forage for my food'
She then turned toward her unassigned skill points
'If I'm faster, then I can get more crystals, and run away from enemies!' Ellie immediately put all 5 skill points into Agility, raising her Agility to 8.
Ellie then closed her level-up window, returning the time back to normal. Immediately, a huge lizard slammed into her at full force, sending her 20 feet in the opposite direction, knocking a crystal out of the side of the wall. The unripened crystal started glowing intensely, and then a few seconds later, let out a horrible screeching noise. As soon as the lizards heard this noise, they started running away as fast as possible.
Ellie opened her eyes, and seeing that all the lizards had left somewhere, she looked around to try and find them. The next second, she heard the horrible sound of hundreds of bats flapping closer from down the tunnel she had originally come from.
'Oh shit, looks like I'm going to use my Agility sooner than I thought!' Ellie immediately started sprinting down the cave.
The bats got closer and closer, screeching out loudly every couple of seconds, each time, the screeching hurt her ears and made her dizzy, but she endured, and kept running. She ran between crystals, jumped on walls, and even tried to hide in a crack, but eventually, the bats caught up to her. The bats were red and dripped black slime from their mouths.
'I don't want to be bitten by a venomous bat!' Ellie started scrambling for a hiding spot
At the last moment, Ellie found a small hole in the wall, and hid inside, waiting for the bats to pass. Several bats tried to grab her, but they were too large to reach inside the hole. Eventually, the bats seemed to have given up, and Ellie relaxed. She hid inside the hole, trying to figure out if the bats were gone or waiting for her to peek her head out. Suddenly, a glob of black goo landed on her body from the hole's entrance, and she began to black out. The last thing she saw before she went unconscious was a baby bat wiggling its way into the hole to pull her out.
