Susan stood at the door, paralyzed as she stared at Derek. A huge part of her told her to run and the rest just wanted her to rush into his arms. What were these contradicting feelings?
The air around Derek was cold and dangerous, only a madman would rush into his arms. But still, that paralyzing feeling she got from looking at his eyes, what was it?
"My lady?" Carlson called and she immediately snapped out of her thoughts.
She lowered her head and started walking in. As soon as she entered the study, the door closed behind her, making her flinch. She looked back.
"Is something wrong, my Lady?" Carlson asked and she turned to him looking anxious.
"Um, it's nothing!" She tried to smile but failed. She felt hot and uncomfortable.
She wished she could retrace her steps and never enter the study.
"Do you perhaps feel uncomfortable?" Carlson further inquired and Susan took a peek at Derek, who was simply observing the situation.
