Chapter 47 - Sweet Sugar

Alice breathed in the fresh air before glancing to look at the silver watch on her wrist to see that it was almost nine in the morning. They wanted to be out by ten o'clock so that they were able to utilize most of the day considering that Alice was being generous enough to let her dear friend be able to get her beauty sleep for the weekend.

She understood that well since most students push and push so hard through the week only to be able to sleep in on the weekends and find some solitude there before the days start all over again. Alice was normally an early riser, but some days, it killed her to get up knowing that it was going to be a long and tiring day ahead of her.

Alice spun around and pushed Claudia through the French doors back into her room so that they could pick an outfit for Claudia before they had to go eat breakfast. Judging by the smell of sweet sugar, it would seem that Marion was going to be done very soon. It would be a shame to leave without getting a bit to eat as well.

Looking at the clothing rack that Claudia had out, Alice thumbed through all the items since the clothing rack was normally where Claudia had put all the new pieces that she hadn't worn yet and some items that Claudia tended to reach for the most. There was also a tiny cubby space to the bottom that held some shoes and bags for convenient reach.

Alice pulled out a pale yellow knit top that was good for the spring season and handed it over to Claudia before looking at the tag that was hanging off and cringing at the atrocious price, but knowing that it was a good quality judging by the small knitting and the tiny details such as the white flowers embroidered in.

Claudia took the piece from Alice's hands and nodded. "This is cute. I totally forgot that this was here."

Alice rolled her eyes. "Of course. Wear that one with a grey skirt maybe?"

Claudia strode over to her walk-in closet and rummaged through all the drawers to find a skirt out of the numerous racks that held ones that looked identical to the next. But according to Claudia, variation mattered. Alice held in her laugh knowing that Claudia was searching for this specific grey skirt that she often wore.

After a few minutes, Claudia emerged freely with the skirt in hand that had small black bows going down in an asymmetrical fashion. Swinging the skirt around her finger, the skirt went flying, and Alice dodged before sitting back down on her bed and crossing her legs to wait for her friend to change.

Claudia slid the skirt over her hips before zipping it up on the side. "This skirt is a must if I want to wear tall black boots with it."

Alice nodded in agreement. "You could also add a yellow bow to your hair or something."

Claudia snapped her fingers. "I should just hire you as my personal stylist."

Alice laughed. "Please do. I've been doing this free of charge for way too long."

"Maybe one day," Claudia winked as she put on the knit top and pulled her hair out of the collar making sure to not break off the curlers.

Claudia went over to the mirror to take out her rollers, and her hair came out as bouncy and voluminous as wanted before Claudia flipped her hair over to shake out the curls and put some hair spray in her locks so that the curls would hold instead of die. She, on the other hand, has dyed her hair numerous times, so her hair was weaker and held heat easier.

She kept her hair in the best condition possible with all the products that her mother had recommended she used, and it was true with the fact that mothers did indeed know best.

It may be a bad thing in the long run, but Alice made sure to take care of her hair as best as she could since she was planning to be a brunette in the long run. It was a spontaneous decision to dye her hair one day when she was at the salon with Claudia a couple of years back, and she was glad to have done so since it fit her complexion better.

She was lucky that her roots didn't grow in too fast either, or else she would be good friends with her hairdresser. Not that she wasn't because Victoria was an angel that often worked with her. Alice clapped her hands together slowly when Claudia did a little turn for her after putting on her boots which brought her outfit together.
