Bentlee's POV
On reaching the cafeteria, i walked over to the glass showcase with the biggest smile on my face only to see that there was absolutely nothing within.
"Where are the bread rolls?" I asked knowing fully well that most people don't buy bread rolls, which was why they were my favourite.
"They've been sold", was all she said as she placed donuts in the showcase.
"What? What do you mean sold?" I asked, my heart completely broken.
"Exactly what it means ma'am. There are donuts though", she answered while trying to sell the snacks.
I stood still, my heart beating steadily, but my nostrils had stopped taking in air, my mouth had taken over. I felt my anger and annoyance move from my fingertips till I felt them all over.
"Which heartless bitch ass person in their right mind buys everything in the showcase?!!! I hope you choke on those bread rolls and become poor!" I screamed inwardly.
After a few seconds, I took in a deep breath before deciding to buy a cup of yoghurt and two donuts.
The lady behind the showcase watched me like a movie as my expressions moved from confusion and sadness to anger and annoyance then to nonchalance and indifference.
I walked over to a grey table where Milan sat, beside the one where Leilani and friends sat.
"No bread rolls?" Milan asked, knowing that those are the only things I eat in this place.
"None", I replied with a frown, trying my very best not to squeeze my face.
She just smiled and continued munching on her burrito, which smelled heavenly.
I found it very difficult to ignore the aroma of what she ate, but was able to once I focused on my earlier annoyance.
The donut had a vanilla flavour that I appreciated even though it wasn't what I wanted. After eating my first donut, Milan and I talked about shoes which was very random.
Mules, ballet flats, strappy heels, sandals, platform shoes, boots, you name it.
We had similar tastes especially in our mutual love for boots and platform shoes.
We talked about brands and colours while judging which ones had the best and the worst shoes. From there, we talked about all things sneakers.
She mentioned that she had a lot of sneakers, so it was easy for her to pair them with clothes.
Milan Jones, a black-haired beauty, was obviously from a well-off family. She didn't seem to have struggled to get a job in this company, but she works hard and is dedicated. As a semi-wealthy person, she was easy to talk to and we could surprisingly relate to a lot of things.
I sighed remembering an incident that happened to me a few weeks after I started working at Del Loona Experience.
Flashback...
I was dressed in a white short-sleeved chiffon blouse and a maroon velvet skirt. I was new in the company, working on the first floor, all smiles and being nice all the time. I had been hanging out/ eating with some girls from the third floor at the time.
We ate together and talked so much that I thought we had become friends or at the very least acquaintances.
Kimmy Roberts, the "head of the group" was having relationship problems with her ugly ass boyfriend, and was always downcast.
And i, the sun, wanted to shine where I wasn't needed.
"Don't worry Kimmy, he's not worth it. He's not good enough for you. And he's ugly too. If I were you, I'd just lea-" I spoke before she cut me off.
"If you were me? What bullshit is that. You want me to break up with him so you can chase him yeah? You can't ever be me bitch. Im richer, prettier and better than you will ever be. I hung out with you as an act of charity and you dare to speak when I'm talking with my friends?" She bursted, taking what I said personally.
And before I could understand what she just said, she took a bottle of water and poured it on me until the last drop.
"Now get lost!" She said like she owned the world.
I stared at her for a good minute before walking away.
Within me, I blamed myself for being foolish and being too nice.
"She called me a charity case. Wow. It seems I'd been too nice. Well not anymore".
.....
Long story short, I got to her level 2 years later and she's still on the third floor, just in another office. That shows how much of a lazy ass she is. Bitch can't even look me in the eye when I walk past her. Serves her right.
Well just because Milan was nice now doesn't mean she'll always stay nice. I'll still tread carefully.
In no time, lunch break was over, and we headed back to our office space.
As we approached the office, we heard yelling and the sound of objects breaking. I and Milan looked at eachother briefly before approaching the office carefully.
Mr Richard was fighting with someone, who looked like the departmental head of the fourth floor. They were throwing punches and kicks, destroying any and everything around.
The rest of my co-workers arrived at the scene and we all watched, secretly supporting whoever that wasn't Mr Richard.
We couldn't stop them and we honestly didn't want to. We wanted the other man to beat our departmental head to a pulp.
The departmental head of the fourth floor was whooping Mr Richard ass, showing how much of a novice Mr Richard was in fighting. He only knew how to yell and scream all day, carrying his rectangular ugly ass head around.
Leilani walked towards the scene while keeping a safe distance.
"Stop fighting!" She said in a loud resounding voice, sending shivers up everyone's spines.
They miraculously stopped.
Earlier when the fight began...
Tiana watched what was happening and smirked when a certain thought came to her. She pulled out her phone and recorded the fight while pretending to text, she moved her phone towards her whenever she saw someone trying to see what she was doing. Mr Richard yelled so much at her, and she never ever forgave people.
When Leilani stopped the fight,
She spun on her heel and walked away from the office space, towards the elevator with a huge grin on her face.
She went up the elevator, to the top floor. The elevator opened with a ding sound and she walked confidently like she had just bought the company.
On her way to the General Manager's office, two workers stopped her.
"What are you doing here?" One of them asked, looking at her like she was the poop of the company.
"None of your business", she replied trying to walk past them, but they blocked her path.
"Yes it is because people like you shouldn't be here at the top", the other one said.
"Just move, I don't have the time to waste on you", Tiana replied.
The workers looked at eachother before bursting.
"Who the fuck do you think you are, speaking to us in such an insolent manner, third floor bitch?" The first one said this time.
Tiana knew she couldn't escape, so she formulated a plan on the spot, luckily the workers were both men.
"AHHHHHHHH", Tiana screamed with fake tears forming at the corner of her eyes.
The workers looked at her with puzzled expressions.
In no time, other workers gathered, looking questionably at their co-workers.
"They tried to- to- ", she cried harder.
All the workers that gathered looked at their co-workers with disgusted faces.
"I can't believe you would try to do that to her just because she doesn't work on this floor"
"You deserve to be stabbed"
"I could just kill you"
"Disgusting Men"
The words of the workers were obviously getting to the accused.
"We didn't do anything to her. She's lying", one of the accused said.
"Now you're denying? How irresponsible and disgusting!"
More people said, making the accused give up momentarily.
"I'm alright now, thank you for your concern", tiana said wiping her face with her napkin and bowing slightly towards the people.
