Jason frowned. " Are you threatening us. "
"No. I am just doing my job." The butler replied calmly. He was not wrong as he was actually doing his job by delivering the message he received from his mistress. The air became thick with tension as both men stared at each other.
"Just doing your jobs? I don't think so." Matthew sneered. " This is a direct threat to the entire Kingstons family. How do you think they would feel when they hear this." He asked while trying to bring the Kingstons into the picture.
"That's your problem young man. Please pay up and leave." The butler spoke nonchalantly but there was a hint of impatience concealed in his eyes.
Matthew was livid when he heard how the butler addressed him. " Why should we pay you people for something so small as this." He pointed at the fruits on the floor. The butler looked at him like he was stupid. He now understood why his young miss seemed so upset when she came out. It was because of stupid people like them who thinks the whole world was at their feet that was why there are plenty people suffering out there. Just because they can afford everything they feel it's okay to waste some instead of valuing them.
His young miss was right they needed to be taught a lesson so they could learn how to appreciate what they have now. Making them pay was just the beginning. His mistress was surely going to make them pay for wasting her fruits, especially this ranting baboon.
"We are not paying any dime." Matthew spat out. His face was already red with anger.
"Then you won't be going anywhere... ever again. " The butler deadpanned. "I don't understand why you are finding it difficult to obey simple instructions. Is it that you are dumb or you don't have money. Tell me now so i can talk to mistress to spare you." He mocked them while keeping a straight face. Matthew's already reddened face turned purple when he heard the butler's words. Even Jason was affected by his words as he chew the inside of his cheek to control his rage.
But the butler couldn't care less about how they feel or reacted to his words. He just want them to pay up and leave. So he dropped the ipad on the table and slid it towards Jason.
Jason stared at the ipad before staring at the old man who was calmly looking at them with a bored expression. Though the man looks old, Jason wasn't as foolish as Matthew to believe the man was weak. The aura around him was calm and regal but there was a hint of bloodlust. It was so faint that he wouldn't have noticed if he didn't train his senses to be sharp. He knew it wasn't wise to fight the enemy in their own den. Especially some one like Ava who wouldn't hesitate to kill them then and there.
Jason picked up the ipad and began typing in his bank details. When Matthew realized what Jason was about to do, he opposed. "Mr Brookes- " He keep quiet when Jason sent him a glare warning him to keep quiet.
"How much are we to pay?" Jason asked the butler calmly.
"One million dollars. "
Both Jason's and Matthew's head shot up when they heard the butler's words. " One million dollars? " They repeated in unison.
"Yes sirs." The butler confirmed making their eyes widened in disbelief.
"A million dollars? How? When? What for? I.... I just... " Matthew fumbled for words. Why should they pay that kind of money when they didn't even break anything. What kind of joke is this?
"Five thousand for wasting food. Twenty-five for delaying her lunch and twenty-five for coming unannounced and wasting her time." The butler explained briefly the reasons why they are paying that amount.
"We are going to pay for wasting her fruits, delaying her lunch and coming unannounced? " Matthew repeated in anger. When the butler nod his head to confirm it, he exploded. " What nonsense are you spouting? Why should we pay for those irrelevant nonsense. " He huffed. "I have heard rumors of how greedy your mistress is but i can't believe she'd pull this kind of stunt with us. Not only - " His words were cut off by Jason's calm voice.
"Its done." He said as he gave the ipad back to the old butler. The man smiled at him and gave them way to pass. "The door is that way. Let me escort you gentlemen. " The character of the butler changed instantly when he saw the credit alert. He switched to nice host immediately making Jason scoff in anger. He needs to leave immediately because if he stays there for another minute, he might lose his composure. And that something he couldn't afford to do.
"There is no need." He spoke through gritted teeth. "Let's go." He said to Matthew before walking away trying to keep his calm expression intact. Matthew glared at the crazy butler who kept smiling at them before following Jason. Today's mission was a complete failure. Not only did they fail to get Ava to sign the partnership contract, they also lost one million. Yes, it was a little amount of money but losing over something so useless was frustrating.

"Are we really going to leave like this." Matthew asked. They were already inside the car. Jason had his eyes closed. "Hmm." He was already exhausted but frustrated. It took him a lot of his will power not to lose his temper like Matthew. He couldn't help chuckling when recalled what happened inside.
Matthew frowned as he stared at him. "Why are you laughing?"
Jason opened his eyes and stared at the mansion that was growing farther. "It was all planned."
"Planned? What was?" Matthew asked in confusion.
Jason's lips twitched as he laughed out again. "Everything. Irritating us to lose focus of our task. She played a big mind game on us and I'm sure she's not done." He said with a crazy look in his eyes.
Ava Lee. She was not as lazy and dumb as she protrays herself to be.
