" I was told that you slept a lot. Didn't think you would sleep peacefully even after been informed of our presence. " An irritated voice came from below.
Ava raised her brows. " Oh! Did I?" A sly graced her lips as she walked past them into the dinner room.
"Where are you going?" Matthew asked but he got a one word reply which irked him more. "Eat."
A vein popped in his head as he and his companion, Jason had no choice but to follow Ava. "You- How dare you? Do you know who we are?"
"No" Ava sat on the dinner table filled with all her favourite dish. She started eating immediately without asking Jason and Matthew to join her. Both men stared at her in disbelief. She sent her servant to ask them to join her for breakfast yet she was eating without inviting them, right in their front.
Jason sat down when he realized Ava had no intention of inviting them. But Matthew refused to sit down. "I believe you know why we are here." He asked. No one responded. Even his companion had started eating.
" Miss Lee, "
"If your plan is to disturb my meal. leave. " Ava said without looking at him.
Matthew was livid. He was the secretary to the heir of the Kingstons family. He was highly valued by everyone by the members of the Kingstons. Disrespecting him was like disrespecting the Kingstons. How dare this little runt disrespect him. " You- "
"Yes me. Leave. "
"What?" Disbelief flashed in Jason's eyes. This lady has no shame. She was the one who asked them to join her for breakfast yet she was chasing them away. " You want us to leave?!" He asked.
"You." Ava pointed at the entrance door while looking at Matthew indicating she wants only Matthew to leave. Matthew shook in anger. He had never lost control of his emotions like this for more than five years of working for Mr. Kingston. But talking to her for a few minutes was enough to anger him. He took in deep breaths trying to calm down before he would say something offensive. Their job was to get her to sign the contract that would give the Kingstons the rights over all the properties of the Boyle and Endersons alongside the Greggs. Thankfully Jason stepped in before he could burst. " Miss Lee, he was only doing his job. Don't you think you are going to far with the insults and humiliation? " He asked calmly.
"No! Hungry. sit . down . and. eat. " Ava said making to emphasize on every word. She even did demonstrations with her hands. " Simple instructions that even a little toddler can understand. Tch." Seeing the disinterest on her face, Matthew wanted to retort but Jason stopped him. He motioned for Matthew to sit down and he grumpily complied without any fuss. Ava who was watching them with interest snorted when she saw how obedient Matthew was to the other man.
' It seems he has more powered than the rampaging baboon.' She said internally.
'Yes ma'am. The one with brown hair was Jason Brookes from the main Brookes branch in Houston. He is a respectable and well-known lawyer in the whole of California. He is also the best friend and right-hand man to the heir of the Kingstons. While the other one was Matthew Wellers. His family owns a small business in the borders of California. He became acquainted with the Kingston boy when he saved him from getting a death penalty for a case some years back.' Mirror supplied all the information about the two men within ten seconds.
The room was silent as everyone was lost in their thoughts. Matthew was still irritated by Ava's action. How dare she make them wait for long and behave as if it was normal. Even insulting them. ' Just wait till I report to my boss. I will make you regret all the things you've done. ' He gritted his teeth as he grabbed some bread and placed it on his plate forcing himself to eat. Ava snorted inwardly when she heard his thoughts. After a while, when he was sure the food on the table was finished he asked. "Now can we talk."
"Who talks while eating." Ava jeered. What kind of persistent person is this. She lazily clapped her hands and immediately some servants came to clear the table while some brought different varieties of fruits. A bowl of fruit salad was placed in her front.
"You-"
"Yes me."
"Why are you being like this." Matthew asked in experation.
"Nothing. Keep . quiet. eat."
"Eat what." He asked. " There is no food on the table. You are deliberately acting like this to annoy us. " He yelled as he angrily banged his hand on the table causing some fruits to fall down.
Ava mood turned sour as she stared at the fruits on the floor. She dropped her cutleries and gently dabbed her mouth with a napkin. "What do you want?" She asked still staring at the fruits on the floor.
Finally she was serious. They could get on to business and leave this crazy woman's house. "First of all, on behalf of the Kingstons I apologize for the inconvenience caused that night. " He started. " It wasn't on purpose. We just did what we felt was right at that time. " He said while Ava raised a brow. Are these people serious. They did what they felt was right at that time. Seriously, does she look stupid.
She instantly became irritated by their choice of words. "Pay." Matthew was confused so Jason. They were talking about a serious issue here. What was there to pay for. Both men looked at each other before turning to look at Ava. " What do you mean. " Jason asked.
Tch! This man always ask stupid questions. She decided to be generous and explain further. " The fruits he wasted. Pay for them."
It was then the both of them realized that she had been staring at the fruits that fell off the table during Matthew's outburst. Did she really interrupt him just to talk about fruits. " I think you are missing the point here." Jason said. "We were - "
"Pay . for . the . fruits. " Ava interrupted him.
"Why should we? It's just fruits it's not as if i wasted food." Matthew huffed. When Ava heard him she raised her head and lokked at him. Just fruits? Where she came from food was scarce. Just to get food they had to fight amongst each other. The stroger ones survived while the weak ones were killed. Yet he called it a simple fruit. " Get lost. " Ava spoke coldly as she stood up and left the dinning room.
Jason and his companion were dumbfounded. What had they say wrong that made her upset. Was it because of a simple fruit. Soon after, an old man with gray hair walked towards them. The man was putting on a white and black suit which the uniform of a butler. The man looked so old and fragile as he held out a weird machine to them.
"What is that for?" Jason asked in confusion.
" It is a device used to transfer cash and pay debts. Our young miss said you should pay for the damages before leaving. " The butler gave a monotonous reply.
Jason popped multiple veins when he heard the butler's bored reply. "Pay for damages? What stupid damages? I ain't paying for nothing." He tried walking away to chase after Ava but the butler stood in his way. "Then I'm sorry but you can't go anywhere... till u pay." The butler said as he stared at them with a straight face. "Also you have till the next fifteen minutes. "
