Larisa stared at the torches which had become a flaming red instead of the purplish flame that had lit up and confusion hit her.
"What are you doing here?" Lothaire asked in a worried tone as he looked at her confusion filled face. Larisa opened her mouth to speak but the familiar voice filled her ears like a whisper. 'Tell him what you saw and heard and I'll kill you myself before the sorcerers gets to you!' The voice growled coldly as she threatened her and she knew it was a deadly one that she would comply with if she disobeyed her. Even though she couldn't see the owner of the voice, it felt as though the person would be able to easily kill her at that moment and the owner of the voice didn't seem like she was bluffing and Larisa felt her dangerous aura as she spoke but it seemed like Lothaire didn't hear her as he just stared at her, awaiting her reply.
"Uh..I was..Exploring and then I found this door." She lied and Lothaire squinted his eyes at her for a second. He couldn't read her mind so he didn't know if she was lying or not.
"You shouldn't be here." Lothaire said as he walked away gently pulling her hands and she followed behind him. She turned around to look at the strange door and the flaming red torches in shock one last time before it disappeared out of sight. She suspected that something was behind the door because the strange voice had led her there and whatever it was, she felt it was no good. She knew that whoever was behind her nightmares was nowhere in the palace because she had never felt the deadly and spine chilling aura she felt from the voice and she had never heard the voice until her nightmare.
"How did you find me?" Larisa questioned, not because she was curious but she wanted to fill the air with meaningless talk to reduce the heaviness she felt from the recent happenings with the sorcerers and the strange voice which certainly belonged to a very dangerous being.
"I followed your scent." He said and she nodded. Hearing his voice made her feel less tensed and she got a sense of relief.
"Did you speak with 'him'? She asked, referring to the Devil as 'him' since she was too scared to call him by his name.
"Yes, he'll help." Lothaire replied shortly with a grim look on his face and Larisa noticed how much he hated talking about his Father, as if he was embarrassed by the fact that he was his son.
"Didn't he ask for anything in return?" Larisa asked curiously to know if the devil would demand something outrageous or if he made a deal with him to be alongside him in his evil doings.
"He'll tell me what he wants after the war is over." He said with a straight face as they walked along the corridors.
"He must trust you enough to demand for his payment after offering his help." She blurted out.
"I had to take an oath that's irreversible so I'll have to do whatever he wants. He's one smart Devil." He said with a sarcastic smirk but Larisa was anxious and scared.
"What if he tells you to stay with him after the war?" Larisa asked with a worried expression as her lips quivered and Lothaire saw her teary eyes which broke him. She was about to cry because she thought he wouldn't have any other choice but to go with his Father since he would have already promised to do whatever he wanted to help them in the war and she didn't know which was more painful, him staying with his father and leaving her in eternal pain or her dying and leaving him in eternal pain.
"I'm not going anywhere." He assured her as he cupped her small face with his large palm and stared deeply into her eyes.
"But you already made an oath to do whatever he wants." She said and the tears that she had been struggling to hold back came down freely on her cheeks as she sobbed and Lothaire couldn't bear to watch her cry as it made him feel like a large sword had pierced his heart painfully. He gently wiped her tears with his thumb as he met her gaze.
"I made an oath that he could ask me anything except staying with him, so you don't have to worry about him." She heard him say and her sobbing slowly stopped as she fluttered her eyelashes at him.
"Really?" She asked as she sniffed in relief and wrapped her small arms around his torso as she embraced him tightly, resting her head on his hard chest and he hugged her back as stroked her hair gently and he kissed atop her head softly.
"How jealous I am of the both of you." Laverna's sarcastic honey coated voice rang at the other side of the hall and they both whipped their heads to her direction. The moment Larisa's eyes met Laverna, she froze with her mouth hanging open in awe. The woman's striking beauty made her speechless. Her extremely long hair cascaded down her shoulders, reaching the floor, her exquisite blood red eyes behind long, thick lashes peered through hers and it felt like she was being drowned into a bloody pool that she had to take her eyes off her blood red eyes and narrowed her eyes down to her incredibly seductive body. She was clothed in a black bodice fitted gown reaching the floor with a slit running from her thighs down revealing her tempting white skin. Larisa realized that the woman was Laverna because her aura and physical features were different from the vampires and demons.
"I'm not surprised." Lothaire said with a stoic expression as he looked at her and Larisa was surprised that she wasn't even jealous probably because of the way he stared at her with cold, dead eyes.
"You've spoken to Lucifer? He's probably going to take more than what you asked from him." Laverna said with squinted eyes as she stared at Larisa who couldn't tear her gaze off her and she smiled cheesily at Larisa whose brows creased in confusion on why Laverna was smiling at her.
"Don't stress over it Laverna." Lothaire said with a blank face as Laverna neared and Larisa could feel the powerful and dangerous air around her.
"I'm not, I'm just worried about your fragile mate." Laverna said as she brought her fingers with long sharp nails towards Larisa's chin but before she could touch her, Lothaire grabbed her wrists with a strong grip and harshly flung it away. Larisa was a bit startled by their sudden movements. She could see the anger in Lothaire's eyes as he flung her hand away.
"Keep your hands to yourself." He growled lowly at her and a mischievous grin spread on her face.
"The sorcerers and I aren't the only thing you should be protecting her from. The Devil's also a huge threat too." Laverna warned as she ignored him and Larisa shuddered a bit at her words but she was confused because Lothaire had told her that his Father wouldn't be a threat to her but now, Laverna was saying otherwise so who could she possibly believe. The goddess or her mate?
"I know he has plans but hurting her isn't part of it." Lothaire said confidently and Larisa found his words easy to reason with.
"Maybe you're right but his plans are always....Extraordinary." Laverna said with a mischievous smile drawn on her lips as she narrowed her red eyes. Lothaire didn't have the time for his Father at that moment, he wanted to take care of the creatures first before his Father because Larisa's safety was his first priority and his Father wasn't really a threat to her.
"I'll handle him at my own time." He stated clearly with an expressionless look.
"Handling Lucifer on your own time is a very bad idea." Laverna drawled in a dangerous tone as her face held the mischievous grin.
Lothaire wanted to speak but his lips pressed shut in a thin line as his face twisted in contempt with his eyes narrowed darkly behind Laverna to the figure walking towards them.
"Speak of the devil and he walks right in.
