Larisa found herself in a space of thick darkness and wandered around endlessly. The air was eerie and she shuddered at the striking cold that hit her until she heard a brain melting female voice that seemed to come from every direction. She knew she was in a nightmare like the previous ones she had in the past few days but it still felt so vivid and she was scared because in her nightmares, no one could save her not even Lothaire.
"Larisa...." The voice echoed in her ears and she tried to figure out the exact direction it was coming from but then it stopped abruptly, making her heart beat faster than usual, then almost immediately, a table appeared in front of her with a box on it. The black box had the same dragon symbol she had seen before in the castle and in Lothaire's room which made her suspicious. She got curious about the content in the box as she stretched her hands towards it and flipped it open and she gasped in shock. It was a heart with purple veins on it which was obviously inhumane but it was still beating which terrified her even more then her eyes shut open within a second as she was covered with sweat in the arms of Lothaire. She sighed in relief as she hugged him tightly with shaking hands.
"Don't worry, I'll get rid of your nightmares." Lothaire said sternly and cuddled her till she dozed off. Her nightmares worried Lothaire even more as she got them frequently which was undoubtedly the doings of a supernatural being whose identity and motive was still not known.
Larisa opened her eyes to be greeted by the beautiful sleeping face of Lothaire, his inky dark hair was a bit messy but he could never be less gorgeous, her eyes paused at his red juicy lips and then lowered to his naked upper body revealing his hard chest and perfect abs which she could never get used to seeing and she almost drooled at the sight if his unearthly and maddening beauty and when she remembered their intimate journey last night, her cheeks flushed red as she sat up hurriedly. She became even more embarrassed after remembering how shameless she moaned when he touched her and how she loved every tingling feel of his fingers on her.
"What's making you blush so early?" Larisa jolted when she heard the deep, husky voice of Lothaire ring in her ears and her cheeks reddened even more as she fluttered her lashes.
"I thought you were asleep." She said, trying to derail his attention from her.
"I'm awake now." He said with a devious smile on his lips revealing his perfect white teeth with slightly longer canines making him look even more sinfully handsome.
"I'll go take my bath." She said as she quickly got up from the bed and headed towards the bathroom.
"Do you need company?" Lothaire teased her playfully but still she couldn't help but blush.
"No!" She exclaimed as she hurried into the bathroom and locked the door. Lothaire couldn't help but laugh at her cuteness.
They got seated at the dining room to eat when Larisa remembered her nightmare.
"I had another nightmare." Larisa said with a frightened look on her face and Lothaire's eyes narrowed.
"I know. I'll find out what's going on when I talk to Laverna today." He said and she nodded.
"She can help?" Larisa asked.
"Hopefully." He replied shortly with a serious expression.
"So Onyx and Avian are coming back today?" She asked curiously.
"Yes." He answered and her frightened look on her face was replaced with a beaming smile. She had missed Onyx already and couldn't wait for her to come back quickly since she was the only female she got along with.
"Can we see Lycan today?" Larisa asked Lothaire with pouted lips.
"I thought you'd never ask." He said with a sarcastic smirk on his face but it dropped suddenly when his eyes narrowed to someone walking in.
"Good morning Lothaire, Larisa." Felix greeted them with an angelic smile as he sat opposite Larisa and next to Lothaire and Larisa wondered if it was okay for him to seat so close to Lothaire after their fight the other day.
"You're not invited Felix." Lothaire's tone was hard and cold but Felix gave him a cheerful smile.
"Come on Lothaire. Aren't we bigger than the whole revolutionary enemy thing? Besides we're both outcasts, so we're more alike than different." Felix said with a calm and reasonable tone as he stared at Lothaire with his bright sapphire blue eyes. Lothaire clenched his teeth at the sight of Felix. He hated him because he was an Angel and always proved to be good and the fact that Larisa liked him too, his hatred even worse.
"We're not alike and you're right, I don't hate you because it's revolutionary. I despise you because you're fucking annoying." Lothaire said with a twisted face full of contempt as his jaws ticked.
"That's enough. Can we just eat in peace please." She pleaded to both of them.
"Sure, we'll try to get along." Felix said and Lothaire gave him a death stare but didn't say a word. Larisa laughed inwardly at the two's argument which was unbelievably cute.
.....
Onyx was already fully clothed in a night wear given to her by one of Laverna's servants when Avian walked in after his meeting with Laverna. Onyx thought that after their sexual interaction, Avian might be different with her and she couldn't help but smile at him but when their eyes met, it still held the cold and emotionless eyes she had known and she felt disappointed.
"Where did you go?" Onyx asked as she hopped on the bed, expecting Avian to join her but he sat on the couch and closed his eyes after taking off his shoes and ignored her.
"It's not nice to ignore a question." Onyx said with a sad small voice.
"I don't have to answer your questions." He said with a flat tone and she scoffed angrily.
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm your mate." She said.
"So?" He replied as he closed his eyes for a short nap and she pressed her lips in a thin line, not saying anymore enduring the night in painful silence.
Onyx and Avian as well as Laverna all got prepared to leave early in the morning. Laverna was putting on a black cloak with it's hood over her head as she approached Onyx and Avian. They both followed her through the wall entrance they had come through and the Minotaurs bowed their heads deeply as they approached the exit of the cave.
"It's nice to come out again." She said as they all left the cave to be greeted by the eye piercing brightness of the sun.
"Did you both sleep well?" Laverna asked the two of them as they walked through the paths of the forest but Avian didn't reply as he kept walking with a stoic reaction while Onyx's cheeks burned as she remembered the passionate night they had. But the morning became awkward because he continued giving her the cold shoulder as if nothing had ever happened between them which upset her a little.
"Yes thanks for asking." Onyx replied politely and a mischievous grin crossed on Laverna's face. They were almost on their way to the car when Laverna abruptly stopped. Avian turned back to look at her to know why she had stopped.
"Something's coming." They heard Laverna say but they couldn't hear or see anything which slightly worried Onyx but Avian kept his stoic expression on. The air changed around them and they knew that she wasn't just bluffing. The air became eerie and the wind blew stronger than before which alarmed them.
"What's th..." Onyx couldn't complete her sentence because it was interrupted with three strange creatures appearing out of thin air surrounding them. The creatures were lean and huge with scaly bodies and spikes shooting out of their backs, almost like a man like beast with huge fangs bared to all's sight and claws that were ridiculously sharp and long with red glowing eyes. Onyx's mouth slightly parted in confusion, she had never encountered anything like this before and she was sure she had never seen such a creature before in myths or real life. Onyx shuddered in fear because she knew that whatever the sorcerers were creating with Laverna's powers were undoubtedly powerful.
"They must be what the sorcerers are creating with my powers. I can sense my powers from them." Laverna explained to both Avian and Onyx.
"Then why are they attacking us?" Avian asked with a stern expression as his eyes fixed on the creatures ready to tear them apart but he was a bit worried about Onyx because she was quite scared.
"Because we're the test subjects." Laverna replied with not a hint of fear on her face but instead she was grinning widely like she was having fun as she could easily take them all since they were created from her powers so it was impossible for them to be stronger than her.
"Protect your mate if you don't want her dead." Laverna warned with a mischievous grin on her face but Avian knew she was right because the creatures seemed stronger than vampires so he immediately stood in front of Onyx. He was ignoring her, but he wouldn't let harm come to her.
