As the sun rose up, a young girl scrunched her eyebrows in slight annoynace when she woke up from her sleep. She kept rolling and rubbing her body along the sheets of the bed like a lazy cat but she soon discovered that her head was not hurting anymore. She finally opened her eyes with the discovery, internally amazed with the psychologist who she had talked to yesterday. It made her to mentally remind herself to thank her mother for making her go there or she wouldn't have been able to sleep so peacefully like she had done.
She got up and pulled open the curtains to allow more light to enter her room and she felt a certain heartache lurking at the corner of her heart at the thought of going out but she quickly surpressed the feeling as she headed for her vanity table to grab a few lotions to use when her mother entered the room and scolded her. "Xin'er, why are you still like this at this time of the day? Do you know you are a freshman starting senior high school today?! Do you want to be scolded by your teachers?!"
Luo Kexin frowned at the sight before her, seeing her mother walk into the room wearing an apron. Her perplexed mind could not comprehend where her mother's grey hair and wrinkles had gone all of a sudden but the thing that worried her the most was... "Mother, what happened to you? What are you saying, I'm already a sen-"
Her words froze in her mouth when her eyes strayed to the mirror in front of her and her hands immediately dropped the lotions on the ground with a thud, some of them spilling across the carpet. Her body felt weak as she looked at herself in disbelief through the mirror, her mind stuck in a blank state. Her trembling hands touched her face and she immediately searched for the calendar on the wall, her mouth dropping in shock at the date she saw. Her mother noticed her stunned state and frowned at the mess her daughter had created. "Kexin, what is wrong with you? Look at what you have done, the stains are going to be hard to get rid of! Oh, this child..."
Luo Kexin stopped her mother who had picked up some tissues to clean the mess on the floor and asked her with tears brimming in her eyes. To her, this was all a dream and she needed someone to wake her up immediately. "Mother, where are we? I mean, what year are we in? Wh-What is going on?"
Luo Kexin's mother was startled by her daughter's sudden change as her eyes strayed to the trembling hands that gripped her arm. She wondered what had gotten into her daughter but she could see how disturbed her daughter was so she swallowed her initial words to calmly tell her. "We are in the year 2017. Xin'er, did anything happen to you? You were so happy yesterday at the thought of going to that prestigious school, don't tell me you are now so nervous you have lost your memories all of a sudden? Don't worry, my dear. If anyone bullies you or says anything bad against you, we will withdraw you away without any stress. Just tell us immediately!"
Luo Kexin let go of her mother's arm and dropped back on the bed, the tears that were kept at bay released immediately with several droplets falling on her face. All her mother's words eventually dulled in her ears as she processed everything that she had seen. She had finally confirmed her suspicions about travelling back in time, she had returned to the time when she was only 15 years old!
The tears that spilled down her cheeks were ones full of gratitude and happiness yet fear that she could not explain. This was a phenomenon that was like a miracle for her and she was sure that it. She had returned to the time when she could finally...her eyes widened in realization as she stood up abruptly. Her mother who had been watching her strange movements saw her rush into the bathroom with a speed that threatened to blur her eyes, shaking her head at her daughter's absurd behaviors before resuming her cleaning.
A few minutes later, Luo Kexin rushed downstairs to meet her parents who were waiting for her at the dining table. She had no appetite at the moment yet simply picked up a piece of bread in order to avoid her mother's nagging before she headed towards the door. Her father halted her on her way out and brought out a small box wrapped with a pretty red ribbon. Although she already knew what was inside the box, tears still swelled up in her eyes as she took the box away and heard her father say to her. "Your mother and I were thinking hard of what to get for you as a present but we didn't really have the money to buy you anything pretty. My father gave me this box when I graduated from college and I have had it with me ever since "
She opened the box to reveal a black and red fountain pen lying in the middle of the small box. Her heart pounded at the sight of the gift, knowing that this was one of the things that initiated her bullying experience and forever changed the course of her life. She lifted up her head and tugged the pen into her shirt pocket as she smiled at her father warmly. "It is beautiful, Father. Thank you."
Her father returned her smile with his own, dismissing the tears in her eyes as an emotion of happiness as he led her outside to the car before going to the driver's seat. Luo Kexin took a deep breath as she stood in front of the car, her own image reflecting back at her through the glass window and her heart pounded out of fear and uncertainty for the second time since she had woken up.
Now that she knew her friends and foes with her past life experience at her side, could she still change the course of time?
