Luo Kexin continued to look at Tian Kuo with teary eyes until he slowly sensed it from when he stood. He turned his face to glare at the person whom he had been suspecting had been looking at him casually but the young girl was already staring outside the window in a deep melancholic way. His light smirk that hung on his face at that moment dampened a little when he noticed the tears brimming in her eyes at that moment but he made no comment about it and smiled at the group of boys approaching him, exchanging greetings with them.
Luo Kexin looked outside the window as she turned her face to the side hoping that he didn't noticed her. She chided herself a lot for getting too emotional and hoping she had not changed something in the past so soon. Her rational mind told her that there were only two seats empty with Tian Kuo and his friend, Fulin and one of them was right behind her friend, Mingmei. In the past, he had been angry that all the good seats had been taken and spotted the seat behind Mingmei so he coerced her into giving up her seat so he and his friends could seat away from the bright sun but at the same time, hide from the class teacher's watchful eyes. It had later become one of the things she hated the most.
She slowly tightened her fist in order to be prepare herself as she saw him contemplate on where to sit after his friends eventually departed. Her heart pounded wildly as he came closer to her waiting for him to say the words so she could find a way to resolve things peacefully but to her surprise, he passed both her and her friend without a second thought and went to the other side where Shi Ruolan was seated while his friend dropped his bag right behind Mingmei, scaring her to death despite his friendly smile.
She couldn't help but frown at the scene as she looked at him being buttered up by Shi Ruolan with his disinterested face, looking at the board in thought. She wondered by the event had changed in this life without any action at all but she said nothing, her attention drawn to the voice behind her where she could hear Fulin talking to Mingmei. She turned back to see her friend lowering her gaze while speaking to him in a respectful tone. After seeing how uncomfortable she was with the boy, she decided to save her without a thought. "Mei'er, I don't think I can see the board clearly because of the harsh sunlight from here. How about we exchange seats, please?"
Mingmei was perplexed at her words but she had no time to refuse when she saw Luo Kexin already standing with her bag and books in her hand so she hesitantly agreed, packing her own stuff in her hands whole refusing to look back at the person who had been in a conversation with her a few seconds ago. She gave her a look of deep gratitude before she said in a clear voice. "Alright, you can have my seat then."
The two girls quickly exchanged seats without casting a single glance at the befuddled Fulin who watched them ignore him. He discovered that the girl who had spoken was a new student so he decided not to create a fuss about the situation, internally amusing on the reaction she would face when she learnt about his true identity in this school. He tapped her seat twice to gain her attention before he gave her a faint smile and said. "Hey, are you a new student?"
"Uhn." He watched her give him a non-committal answer before going back to her books to read and the whole situation irked him. Even with his visuals, she should have at least given him a second glance yet she merely glanced at him as if he was not worth talking to. He found it embarrassing so he didn't raise a fuss at all and decided to keep quiet and listen to his music like he had been doing before.
Meanwhile, Luo Kexin could hardly care about anyone but Tian Kuo as her new seat provided her a better perspective of her target. Her mind feared that something had indeed changed and maybe Tian Kuo had also reincarnated but she drove all those silly thoughts away. The heavens had provided her this opportunity to help her and that would never happen if he had already been reincarnated. Maybe she had done something unknowingly by mistake and changed something. She couldn't give up hope now, there would be other opportunities to get his attention and one of them was going to happen soon in an hour, she mused to herself as she looked at the wall clock next to the board.
And after an hour, she found herself in the cafeteria with her friend on a line waiting to be served her lunch. Different aromas of food assaulted her nose and made her a little hungry but she paid no attention to it. The school was built for the luxury and comfort of the rich and the elite so the best was naturally provided for them as professional caterers served them with menus that was hard for the middle class to even eat on a normal day. She held her tray while searching the entire room for her target but her eyes dimmed when she saw him with Shi Ruolan again at his side, locking arms with him and smiling bashfully at him.
She rehearsed all her actions of the past from the classroom to here and was very positive that her plan would work if she did all the actions that she remembered. In the past, she had been getting her food and going to sit with her friend when she suddenly tripped with the help of Shi Ruolan and spilled all her food on Tian Kuo's clothes, earning his ire. It was from that time, he had marked her down and made her life miserable or so she thought.
When she collected the food she wanted, she confidently walked towards them with her picking up their conversation slowly. She could hear Shi Roulan talking to her friend as she held onto Tian Kuo's arm. "Don't you guys have a pen? Find me a pen immediately so I can give him my number!"
She had purposely displayed her pen outside her pocket so they would see it and passed them, waiting for Shi Ruolan to trip her like before. But as soon as she passed them expecting to fall, she was stunned to see that no one had tripped her at all and that realization made her turn around to look back at them. In her distracted state, she failed to see the incoming person in front of her and lost her balance immediately throwing her food on him. She gasped at the sight as her surroundings went quiet around her, earning her several looks from Shi Roulan's table including Tian Kuo's own. She was too embarrassed to lift her head with her mind running in a confused state.
This was not meant to happen like this. None of the things she had remembered in her past life was going the same way and the very thought scared her greatly. Didn't the heavens give her this opportunity to correct her mistakes? She looked up at the ceiling as she wondered internally, was this chance really a blessing or.... a punishment?
